    Your Moral Alignment

....and game characters who share the same alignment as you!

Thought this might be fun, so here's what you do:

Take this alignment test if you don't know what you are: Online Alignment Test

After you do that, you're gonna have to peruse around a bit on Tv Tropes to find characters who are possibly in the same category. I'll provide the links to the pages so you don't have to do too much work, but you'll still have to scroll down to the Video Games tabs to find characters you like (or not... ) who share your same alignment!

Lawful Good: Lawful Good - Television Tropes & Idioms

Neutral Good: Neutral Good - Television Tropes & Idioms

Chaotic Good: Chaotic Good - Television Tropes & Idioms

Lawful Neutral: Lawful Neutral - Television Tropes & Idioms

True Neutral: True Neutral - Television Tropes & Idioms

I'll post my results later, since I don't wanna clog this post with too many words. Have fun everyone!

    Re: Your Moral Alignment

Test gave me "Neutral Good," which I'm not sure about-I thought I was Chaotic Good. But eh. It's not too bad. You just do what you think is for the best in any situation.

Out of video games, I think my favorite character that is Neutral Good is Commander Shepard. I'd say the way I played him, he was fairly Neutral Good; I just picked whatever choices I thought were the best at the time, including a few renegade choices like punching somebody (or torturing the person I'm interrogating, or killing a few defenseless people. Leaning towards the Chaotic Neutral there.) Of all Neutral Goods I saw on there, however, Gandalf is probably my favorite

I had a table top RPG character who probably was somewhere between Neutral Good and Chaotic good. He drank a lot, was a sniper, and would harass random people. He also generally did what he thought was right when it came down to it, however. Probably Neutral Good with some whacky antics thrown in. Like telling an Imperial Star Destroyer "Up yours!" when it told his ship to prepare to be boarded. And exploding lots of people's heads. Anyhoo...

    Re: Your Moral Alignment

I tested as a True Neutral. Tele says that I should probably be more of a Neutral Good, but it's an online test! Can't argue with those results.

My favorite character listed is probably Quina (FF IX). That's the epitome of true neutrality right there. No concerns other than what food s/he's gonna eat next. That does sound a lot like me actually. Awesome.

I'm True Neutral, and all I can think of is Planet Neutral from Futurama. I'm have no strong feelings either way. Raise the risk alert to Beige!

Oh, and the Driver from the film Drive.

    Re: Your Moral Alignment

According to this test, I'm a "lawful neutral":
A lawful neutral character acts as law, tradition, or a personal code directs her. Order and organization are paramount to her. She may believe in personal order and live by a code or standard, or she may believe in order for all and favor a strong, organized government. The common phrase for lawful neutral is "true lawful." Lawful neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you are reliable and honorable without being a zealot.
Unfortunately I don't know any of the characters listed... except for the Grammar Nazi But as I've stopped correcting anyone... I don't think it fits. But well.

    Re: Your Moral Alignment

I'm allied with "Neutral Good" according to this fail-safe test.

To be honest I'm not very familiar with any of these video game personalities in this category.. There are Mario and Luigi, but the games don't go into much detail and thinking more about their dispositions makes me think of Super Mario Bros. the movie.

So for the greater good of humanity I am going to bend the rules of this thread a little bit and acknowledge that James Tiberius Kirk, from the original Star Trek, is listed in this category. I think we can all agree he is decent.

Michael Weston from the TV show 'Burn Notice' came to mind while reading this alignment description, although he's not on the list.

    Re: Your Moral Alignment

Nifty, I'm experiencing alignment drift. When I took this test a few months ago, I was a Chaotic Good, like my actual D&D character, but now I've tested as a True/Neutral good. I think this is a good sign that either my morals are improving again or I'm becoming more boring. Either way, still good to know.

As for my V.G. characters, I match with Crono (Chrono Trigger), Solid Snake (towards the end of MGS), Ameterasu (Okami), Auron (FFX), Link (Legend of Zelda), and Keine (Touhou). It also listed Samus Aran (Metroid) but I don't think she completely fits as a Neutral Good after the events in Prime and Other M. Seems more Chaotic Good to me.

    I tested as Lawful Good...

"A lawful good character acts as a good person is expected or required to act. She combines a commitment to oppose evil with the discipline to fight relentlessly. She tells the truth, keeps her word, helps those in need, and speaks out against injustice. A lawful good character hates to see the guilty go unpunished. Lawful good is the best alignment you can be because it combines honor and compassion." - That's what it said.

Apparently I'm like Aeris (FFVII), Mufasa (Lion King), Mr. Spock (Star Trek 2009), God (haha!), and Wynne/Alistair from Dragon Age. Though Alistair is apparently A Knight in Sour Armour though still Lawful Good. ...Good enough for me. Others are Optimus Prime, Ned Flanders, and Applejack/Twilight Sparkle from MLP:FIM.

Oh, and Hufflepuff house from Harry Potter.

Not far off to be honest, although I think I'll take the test once more. Crono (Chrono Trigger), Mordin Solus & Commander Shepard (Mass Effect), Spider-Man, Luke Skywalker (Star Wars), Stan Marsh (South Park)... are neutral good as well.

    Re: Your Moral Alignment

Lawful good... didn't really expect that.

Characters who are also lawful good: Mufasa, Sonic the hedgehog, Captain Picard, Spock, Master Chief. Hell yeah, all the cool characters!

I suppose the main reasons for coming up as lawful good is that I have the inherent desire to do good but sometimes need to seek the wisdom of those that I respect for advice on what would be the right thing to do when I'm unsure.

An example would be; about a month ago I found an abandoned baby kitten on the ranch. I told my dad about it, he said to kill it because it's the most humane thing to do. Well I wasn't really sure if that was the right thing to do, so I called up my sister. She said don't kill it, try to save it. Well, I decided to try, but while I was washing it off, I found that flies had layed maggot eggs all over it's back and in it's ears. At that point, I knew that the right thing to do was to just put it out of it's misery, so that's what I did.

I guess it makes sense, lawful good isn't always the most savory... it requires you to steel yourself in preparation for the unpleasantness or violence that comes along with it, because the warm and fuzzy choice isn't always the RIGHT choice. Just ask SEAL Team 6, I'm sure they're Lawful Good.

That's probably why morons always see me as the bad guy. Somebody's going to say "You killed a kitten? YOU MONSTER!"

Did the test 3 times n got the same result so sure I was a nice person but no Im Neutral Evil.

A neutral evil villain does whatever she can get away with. She is out for herself, pure and simple. She sheds no tears for those she kills, whether for profit, sport, or convenience. She has no love of order and holds no illusion that following laws, traditions, or codes would make her any better or more noble. On the other hand, she doesn’t have the restless nature or love of conflict that a chaotic evil villain has. The criminal who robs and murders to get what she wants is neutral evil. Some neutral evil villains hold up evil as an ideal, committing evil for its own sake. Most often, such villains are devoted to evil deities or secret societies. The common phrase for neutral evil is "true evil." Neutral evil is the most dangerous alignment because it represents pure evil without honor and without variation.

Examples of this most dangerous alignment are Azula(Avatar:Last Airbender), Yagami Light and my 2 personal favourites, Ocelot and......SEPHIROTH!!!!!! Im so honoured!! XD

    Re: Your Moral Alignment

I got Chaotic Neutral from the test and I share this questionable honor with Captain Jack Sparrow, Jarlaxle, Axel from Kingdom Hearts and Bugs Bunny, to name some of the more awesome examples.

Chaotic Neutral- A chaotic neutral character follows his whims. He is an individualist first and last. He values his own liberty but doesn't strive to protect others' freedom. He avoids authority, resents restrictions, and challenges traditions. A chaotic neutral character does not intentionally disrupt organizations as part of a campaign of anarchy. To do so, he would have to be motivated either by good (and a desire to liberate others) or evil (and a desire to make those different from himself suffer). A chaotic neutral character may be unpredictable, but his behavior is not totally random. He is not as likely to jump off a bridge as to cross it. Chaotic neutral is the best alignment you can be because it represents true freedom from both society's restrictions and a do-gooder's zeal. However, chaotic neutral can be a dangerous alignment when it seeks to eliminate all authority, harmony, and order in society.

The description actually seems pretty accurate, but I can't say that it defines me. I think I'm more something between Chaotic Good and Chaotic Neutral.

You have to look at it from a video game point of view, although I have to agree, some questions do need better answers.

    Re: Your Moral Alignment

I'm a Chaotic Neutral. So I'm like Captain Jack Sparrow, and a Renegade Commander Shepard.

I'm not so sure it's "me" though. I do try and do the right thing in situations, but I have an unpredictable fuse that can cause some harm. I probably lean closer to the good than the bad I guess. Neutral fits me perfectly. And Chaotic sounds awesome.

    Re: Your Moral Alignment

Lawful Good, though when I took this test before I was Neutral Good. The latter has been my alignment in a lot of my D&D games, and tends to be what most people fall into when they play games, even when they've selected lawful/true/chaotic neutral. It's really easy to give to a beggar and whatnot in a game when you have gold oozing from every pore on your body. When you have everything you'll ever need and know you'll be receiving more of it, why wouldn't you?

In reality most everyone is about lawful or true neutral, I'd say. We're only willing to give so much of ourselves before we get fed up.

Chaotic mother****in' neutral. Whateva, I do what I want!

Sheogorath, as the Daedric Prince of Madness in the Elder Scrolls series embodies Chaotic Neutral in his particular universe. Since he is the embodiment of madness, he could be compared to pendulum that swings between Chaotic Evil, Chaotic Neutral and Chaotic Good, but tends to stick with Chaotic Neutral. On one hand, he can be psychopathic, (Killing a person for having a beard) and "Ax Crazy", while on the other hand, he helped the Chimer (who later became the dark elves) move from Summerset Isle and form their pre-tribunal culture, and is the source of creativity. He's also very keen on punishing those that deserve it, or teaching lessons to people, usually in the oddest way possible. So, in short, he IS the very definition of Chaotic Neutral. He does what he wants, and says **** the consequences. Well, when his madness doesn't run in "take consequences into account a little bit too much"-ways (he is the God of Madness... including paranoia and compulsive behaviours).

    Sheogorath himself... I am honored.

Axel, Captain Jack Sparrow, N (pokemon black and white), Cave Johnson (Science isn't about why, it's about why not? Why is so much of our Science dangerous? Why not marry Safe Science if you love it so much? In fact, why not invent a special "safety door" that won't hit you on the butt on the way out, because you are fired! Not you, test subject, you're doing fine. Yes, you. Box. Your stuff. Out the front door. Parking lot. Car. Goodbye.), Vegeta (sometimes, particularly during Cell saga), Seto Kaiba (screw the rules, I have money!), Hiei (Yu Yu Hakusho), Kagura, Koga, Hulk, Old Disney stuff's Mickey (back when he was just a black and white psycho), Certain writer's versions of Two-Face (he'd decide whether someone lived or died on a coin flip), V (arguably, leans towards chaotic good, but some of his means are evil enough to average him out to chaotic neutral), Riddick, Q (Star Trek's beloved omnipotent being who just doesn't give a shit), Dr. Gregory House (****, there are some awesome Chaotic Neutrals), Garak (Star trek: Ds9), The Janitor in Scrubs, Loki (Norse mythology, not the Marvel version), Professor Hubert Farnsworth, Kenny (South Park), All five members of Dethklok, Robin, particularly where capturing Slade is a goal (Red X is a perfect example of Chaotic Neutral), and last, but not least, Gir (Invader Zim).

It would seem I am in good company.
For Our Lord Sheogorath, without Whom all Thought would be linear and all Feeling would be fleeting. Blessed are the Madmen, for they hold the keys to secret knowledge. Blessed are the Phobic, always wary of that which would do them harm. Blessed are the Obsessed, for their courses are clear. Blessed are the Addicts, may they quench the thirst that never ebbs. Blessed are the Murderous, for they have found beauty in the grotesque. Blessed are the Firelovers, for their hearts are always warm. Blessed are the Artists, for in their hands the impossible is made real. Blessed are the Musicians, for in their ears they hear the music of the soul. Blessed are the Sleepless, as they bask in wakeful dreaming. Blessed are the Paranoid, ever-watchful for our enemies. Blessed are the Visionaries, for their eyes see what might be. Blessed are the Painlovers, for in their suffering, we grow stronger. Blessed is the Madgod, who tricks us when we are foolish, punishes us when we are wrong, tortures us when we are unmindful, and loves us in our imperfection.

    Re: Your Moral Alignment

    Chaotic Neutral, "Free Spirit"
A chaotic neutral character follows his whims. He is an individualist first and last. He values his own liberty but doesn’t strive to protect others’ freedom.

Chaotic neutral is the best alignment you can be because it represents true freedom from both society’s restrictions and a do-gooder’s zeal.

    Lawful Evil, "Dominator"
A lawful evil villain methodically takes what he wants within the limits of his code of conduct without regard for whom it hurts. He cares about tradition, loyalty, and order but not about freedom, dignity, or life. He plays by the rules but without mercy or compassion. He is comfortable in a hierarchy and would like to rule, but is willing to serve. He condemns others not according to their actions but according to race, religion, homeland, or social rank. He is loath to break laws or promises.

This reluctance comes partly from his nature and partly because he depends on order to protect himself from those who oppose him on moral grounds. Some lawful evil villains have particular taboos, such as not killing in cold blood (but having underlings do it) or not letting children come to harm (if it can be helped). They imagine that these compunctions put them above unprincipled villains.

Some lawful evil people and creatures commit themselves to evil with a zeal like that of a crusader committed to good. Beyond being willing to hurt others for their own ends, they take pleasure in spreading evil as an end unto itself. They may also see doing evil as part of a duty to an evil deity or master.

Lawful evil is sometimes called "diabolical," because devils are the epitome of lawful evil.

Lawful evil is the most dangerous alignment because it represents methodical, intentional, and frequently successful evil.

    Neutral Evil, "Malefactor"
A neutral evil villain does whatever she can get away with. She is out for herself, pure and simple. She sheds no tears for those she kills, whether for profit, sport, or convenience. She has no love of order and holds no illusion that following laws, traditions, or codes would make her any better or more noble. On the other hand, she doesn’t have the restless nature or love of conflict that a chaotic evil villain has.

Some neutral evil villains hold up evil as an ideal, committing evil for its own sake. Most often, such villains are devoted to evil deities or secret societies.

Neutral evil is the most dangerous alignment because it represents pure evil without honor and without variation.

A neutral good character does the best that a good person can do. He is devoted to helping others. He works with kings and magistrates but does not feel beholden to them. The common phrase for neutral good is "true good." Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias toward or against order.

Goku, Gohan, Krillin, Alphonse Elric (not into anime btw) sometimes Superman and Spiderman, Luke Skywalker, Gandalf, Harry Potter (lol) Auron, Link, Mario and Luigi are the only ones I really know lol

    Re: Your Moral Alignment

I got Neutral Evil. I expected that as well.

Most games that involve me having to choose an Alignment, I always choose Neutral Evil first for my first character.

Hell even in real life sometimes as well. I usually only do things that will benefit me in some way. I do this is I want to or not. I have my reasons.

    Re: Your Moral Alignment

I got Neutral Good. Makes sense, I was expecting that.

In games, not so much. My first playthroughs I always go good, and then it's evil/renegade all the way from there. Although on Dragon Age I went evil straight away. I guess that only means in real life then huh?

True neutral just like The Dude and pretty much every Fallout character I've ever made. Makes sense.
