You know what I want to see on the PS4? A Level-5 RPG.

    And do you know why?

Because Rogue Galaxy remains one of the best games I ever played on the Playstation 2. The studio is brilliant. Ni no Kuni is spectacular as well. I really wish Time Travelers would get localized because I hear only the best things about it. White Knight Chronicles was an amazing story with shitty mechanics, and that was completely fixed in WKC2. I could go on and on mentioning Level-5's various offerings, but that would just turn this thread into a list.

By the way, do you know who developed Dragon Quest VIII? It sure wasn't Square Enix!

So there's a bit of a buzz of an apparently Ni no Kuni sequel plotted for the Playstation 4. I would like for this to be true, but honestly, just knowing that they're working on something new is exciting enough for me.

I would flip my shit if they put out another game like Rogue Galaxy though.

When I started researching Dark Cloud stuff last week, I kept coming across articles and forums and images of people wanting Level-5 to make Dark Cloud 3. People were almost at the level of the Final Fantasy VII Re-Make people on how much they wanted it. Now that I have played a bit of both the original and Dark Cloud 2, I wouldn't mind seeing a third chapter of the story.

Well Level 5 has gotten to be pretty big at this point. So they can do a lot these days. A lot of people saying that they'll replace Squaresoft's old spot for JRPGs. I certainly have enjoyed all of the games that they put out and I want more. Though I'd like to see some of their older crafting and gear enhancing brought back. I missed it in WKC and WKC2. Just didn't have the same feel as Dark Cloud or Rogue Galaxy.
Curious? There's no limits but your own imagination.

I only just got my hands on Ni No Kuni on PS3 (and barely have time to play it, heh). I vote this.

And then I take away my vote, only because I don't want to feel compelled to buy a PS4 until they become significantly cheaper. Ni No Kuni WOTWW and GTAV should last me long enough.

I had Dragon Warrior VIII....I never got far and just didn't play it. Very sad. I liked Dark Cloud but I playing it and I farmed and farmed and then didn't save and my weapon broke and I raged quit.

Great thread! I have been doing a little research on their next big project. While I would love to see Ni No Kuni become a franchise, I would equally love to see a whole new experience. Don't get me wrong, I have over 150 hours in Ni No Kuni and would probably put it in my top five RPG's. However, Level-5 has a "now" very rare ability as a developer to bring exciting and fresh games to a very boring and trendy catalog of new releases. Unless Square pulls out all the stops in the next gen, Level-5 will continue to rise to the top of the JRPG.

Who knows though, when Level-5 finds the right formula they tend to spawn a sequel. Ni No Kuni 2, Dark Cloud 3, or even another Dragon Quest gem could be on the horizon!

Wow. I'd totally forgotten about the Dark Cloud series before reading some of the replies here. Both games are probably in a box somewhere. I enjoyed the second Dark Cloud game a lot more than the first---the time travel aspect interested me. Wouldn't mind seeing a third chapter, myself.

Note to self: Put Rogue Galaxy on a list somewhere.
    Hero façade. Villain at heart.

I'm pretty sure that if Level-5 were to include Professor Layton puzzle mechanics in a console RPG, it would blow my mind.

I'd also like to see them attempt something with a combat mechanic similar to what SEGA did with Valkyria Chronicles.

That article leads toward a non-sequel just because Studio Ghibli wasn't mentioned? That's silly.
