For the 40th anniversary of this classic game, Oregon Trail blazes it's way to Facebook! (heh...) The newest version of the game will be available February 2nd, and yeah, there's even a trailer for it.
So how many TFFers played Oregon Trail before? I'm sure after being around for 40 years, there are quite a few that have at least heard about the game.
I did back in elementary school. It was in our computer class, and those that got finished with their work were allowed to play games. Oregon Trail was one of 'em. I don't believe I ever got very far though. Haha... So to be honest, I'm kind of looking forward to the facebook release, just to see if I can finally make it through the whole journey!
Wow you never made it? You suck! Nah, I remember that game pretty much being a lot about luck, and don't ever try to brave a river until the water goes down, patience is key. We played it in our computer class too. Oregon Trail 2 was way better, though!
Used to own it for the PC, but I think I saw it in elementary school first. Hunted buffalo to extinction, shed tears with friends over snake bites, and eventually made it to the end by being a doctor and figuring out which starting and finishing points yielded the shortest trail. Game was a bitch. I don't remember if it was Oregon Trail 1 or 2 that I played though...
just turn off your PS3 or 360 go to your dust tomb and say you'll give birth to 1500 people a day for the 1000 that'll be killed until the doors to hades open and you can pull out ar tonelico and turn on that glorous PS2 and be bathed in its radiant warm glow
Yeah, we used to have that on the 'puter back in elementary school too. It was vaguely a big deal because it had the name of our state in its title. I remember winning at least a few times, although I am not sure if I did this by myself or if we were playing it in teams or something stupid like that.
We had it on the Apple II es in the "computer lab" in my shit-ass catholic gradeschool, and I remember playing it often.
Dude, same here! Back on the Apple II with it's green and black sexiness and all, lol. My favorite thing to do was to do the hunting minigame and try to shoot bears and ducks and stuff, great times back in the 1st grade. And yes, strangely I don't ever remember getting to the end but thats because I probably saved up and spent the money on bullets instead of other practical stuff

Meier: Hey Pete, I said I started to, it just didn't end the with the same number of women. Then again this one is kind of on the outs with me if she doesn't straighten up and fly right so that means I will be back in it for the thrill of the kill. Got some in the reserves. Even got a rePETEr (<---- like that ay? AYYYYY?) on the back burner.
Block: I do like the rePETEr except it kinda makes it sound like you're going to pork Pete. No homo.
(Updated April 13th 2013)Currently Playing: League of Legends, FTL, Dead Island, Borderlands 2, KotoR 2
I've played several incarnations of it, both at school and at home. Oddly enough, I liked the simpler elementary school version the best. Hunting was always the best part about it too.
I made it to the end a few times, but mostly everyone died from stupid/nonsensical things haha.
The Facebook version looks dumb, imo.
There was another game we used to play at school, I really wish I could remember the name of it. I think it may have been a text based sort of thing. Maybe I'll look around, see if I can dig it up.
ETA: Number Munchers! Not the one I'm thinking of, but I played that one too.
ETA2: Treasure Mountain! That's the one. Damn, talk about nostalgia. Hahaha that game was awesome.

specific date?
