    White Knight Chronicles 2

The time is almost here for the next White Knight Chronicle game to come out. For those in the European region you get to look forward to the game this week to next week, the dates are a little spread out. For those in the North American region we're waiting until August, yeah no one understands that one.

Anyway, I'm posting because I want to see if we can get some more people to join us in playing. For those that don't know, White Knight is a RPG that has online support. I like to call it a MMO-lite, since it has a lot of similar feel of being one without the monthly cost. Though it looks like it is probably more accurate to say it is like Monster Hunter from what I've heard. But you can make your own character play the single player story and then jump online and party up with others around the world.

A few of us here at TFF have been playing the first game WKC and planning on moving over when it comes out. So I'd like to encourage more of you to come and join us. They will have a guild system for the second game that will allow us to all be together and have our own guild town.

The great thing is that WKC1 will be coming with WKC2. So if you missed out on the first game you can still play it without any extra cost. And it will have the same improvements made on the second game. So it is actually the better version.

Even better in WKC2 you get to have your own Knight, which is pretty much a fantasy mecha. And you can customize its appearance to be unique from everyone else. And you can take those into online quests and play with others. Who hasn't always wanted their own fantasy mecha to go stomping around in?

Also for those worried about coming in to play that will already be high level, when players from WKC import into WKC2 they will be reset on their online ranking and levels back to 35. So new players joining won't have to feel like they are alone. And with the spacing of EU and NA when you join there will probably be some experience players that can help you out when the NA players join in August. But there will still be plenty of fresh people around your range to play with if you want as well.

So come on over and see if we can make an awesome TFF Guild in WKC2! ^^

Any questions or curiosities please ask. I'll answer anything I can.

Ignorant question here, but what system is WKC for? I don't remember seen it on store shelves last time I went looking for games.

It is for the PS3. There is another game planned that will be on the PSP, but for now it is only PS3.

I was on the fence about buying this game because I didn't really know too much about it and the time I saw it in stores it was still $50. I assume you would recommend it Andromeda right? By MMO-lite do you mean like the dot.Hack series where it was a kind of make believe online game or is there an online component to WCK as well as a story mode?

I got the first one a month ago, and I've been playing it ever since. I want to get to GR15 and get the platinum before the I play the second one, for that certificate and the badass shiny crown. XD

It really is addicting, and personally, the MMO elements make it the most grind-worthy (as in, the amount of grinding) game I've played on a console. But it pays off in the end, I suppose.

And yeah, what the hell is up with the North American release date? >.> For the first game, both North America and Europe got it in February. Oh, well, at least it'll give me more time to get that platinum and GR15.

    Re: White Knight Chronicles 2

You guys have a different publisher. Sony isn't the one publishing over there... stupid ass move in my opinion, but whatever. ><

I'm thinking of waiting until August anyway. I won't have anyone but EU strangers to play with for a few months, and I have a lot of stuff to do in the meantime in the first game.

I'd totally recommend it for anyone sitting on the fence over it. The story isn't the greatest, and is shot full of plot holes, but it's still fun and quirky. On a customisation scale, it's pretty awesome - build any class you want, and with hundred of equipments and weapons to choose from, AND with designing your own character, you can really put a stamp on it.

Online is fun too. Geonet has had its temperamental moments for me, but it's all fun. It's a little confusing to use at first, but you can quickly get the hang of things.

    Re: White Knight Chronicles 2

To directly answer your question Xithor, WKC is built as a single player RPG and an online mission/quest based RPG. You take your efforts and work from single player into the online part. But it is a fully fleshed out part of the game and is truly online and not simulated like the .hack series. You will actually play with other players across the world. Which in our case is you play with I think everyone but Japan or whoever it was got the International version.

At this late stage I would recommend just waiting until WKC2 comes out and buying that since you'll be getting a new game and an improved old game as one. If you want you can buy the original for probably a low price, but the community is going to be transitioning over in the coming months to the new game. So waiting is probably the best, unless you're in the EU territories then you don't have to wait. ^^ But it is definitely worth playing. The single player story is a little weak, but the online stuff is a lot of fun and you can play with friends or just strangers. It has that same sort of Monster Hunter addictive quality to it. And they rebalanced everything in WKC2, so they took out a lot of that grind that Fate was talking about.

And you should stop on by Fate. I've been on a lot lately working to getting GR15 myself. But we do play on Sundays as a group.

    Re: White Knight Chronicles 2

I haven't looked too deep into how the gameplay has changed in the second game. Can you elaborate on how they "rebalanced everything," Andro? We're not going to need to spend hundreds of hours trying to get everything to platinum the game and get to GR15 like before?

What I like about the online community in White Knight Chronicles is that they're so helpful. You see a bunch of GR15 people just there to help with some speedruns, and they don't care who joins. I find them much friendlier than the ones on the American Demon's Souls server. XD

Oh, and it'd be fun playing with some familiar people. Hardly anyone I know has the game. It's a shame. =\

    Re: White Knight Chronicles 2

Well they cut back the amount of GR points required to get to the same levels. So you don't have to spend as much time going through quests. They also cut back on the amount of materials required to bind an item. So it is easier to make things. They also changes how certain weapon types work.

Combat has been retooled as well. Your action wheel is full the moment you draw your weapon, no waiting. I think the action wheel recharges faster. Most skills no longer require AC, but MP to use. I believe MP pools have been increased as a result. Mages have AC convert to MP skills. New skills have been added, others have been removed. Equipment enhancement stats have been changed significantly.

I can go on in more detail if you wish.

    Re: White Knight Chronicles 2

I've had White Knight Chronicles sitting in my collection gathering dust for some time now. I bought it knowing nothing about it except it was one of the few JRPG's available on the PS3. I read a few reviews on the likes of gamespot, IGN etc and they were not very complimentary to be honest. It didn't come very highly recomended by anyone i spoke to.

However i've always been the kind of guy to try things and form my own opinions. I gave it a go and it seems actualy quite good. I've only got to the first town and back and used the bad ass knight thingy and i saved my game there. I've kinda just left it there though and i moved onto other games. Things i was waiting for like Dragon Age 2. I'll probably go back to it at some point though.

As for the North American release date, I feel for you. But i have to say it's usualy us in Europe who are waiting the extra couple of months for releases. But yeah, All games should be available at the same time world wide.

Now that the game is out, I can finish (by which I mean -truly- start) WKC1, and carry my character over into WKC2 afterward.

Andro, I'm binging this game for you! And the improvements in WKC1 are very nice. When the original launched, I just really wasn't impressed with it. I know a handful of you played that regularly, but I'm hoping I can join the fray once I push through the first title and start the second.

Indeed, this game is the ONLY reason, I'm buying a PS3 when I get off this deployment. It seems interesting enough, plus it's been a while since I played a different type of game like that. Most of the time it's been a new FF game, Tales of (insert here), Persona (insert here), SMT (insert here), or just anything based on something old.

I've seen the first WKC and wanted to pick it up but got sidetracked with leaving the country but now WKC2 is coming out with the first game, I can't wait to nerd out to this game for hours at a time. Once I get it, I'll give TFF my information for joining the guild.

Well right now, the guild system is not currently available in the US and EU. There is a patch coming out in December that they haven't stated what all is going to be in. There is going to be some additional dlc coming and some other thing. One hope is that the guild system is in there.

I've got the main game finished for WKC2. So if you're wanting to do quests online or anything I'll be available. Just let me know.

I'm, uh, back under Greede seeking a specific "item" when it comes to storyline progression for WKC2. I put the game down for a few days to focus a little bit on Dark Souls, but the itch to finish the storyline for WKC2 is pretty strong. Gotta hop on and play with Andro!!

Yeah, clearing WKC2's story is going to be a lot faster than clearing Dark Souls. You'll be at that for a while, knowing you. ^^; But yeah, I know what you're talking about Loco. Given where you are, you're roughly halfway through WKC2 at that point. Depending on how difficult the game as been for you, there might be some rough fights up.

Since I played a mage, everything was almost too easy until I got to the end of the game.

    Re: White Knight Chronicles 2

Playing bow has been tough, but I've been utilizing Yulie as a fully fleshed out mage in a lot of these battles against dragons and other large creatures. I've been setting up the party in a lot of tank-mage-support setups when I move into a room with something big, and otherwise running Leonard/Caesar setups at most other times.

Since bow gets the MP restoration at 1 AC cost, I just keep my avatar in there at almost all times to refuel Yulie or either of the Incorruptus users.

I've got a rocking support build rolling now, so if we can do some three or four player quests, we should rip through them like it's nothing.

Sounds good, I know for the most as a mage I'm pretty self-sufficient since I can steal MP, but monsters do run out of MP. But a bow-mage duo would be pretty powerful. A dark shot to blind them and my evasion magic and I can probably dodge everything thrown at me. Just need to work on getting your Guild Rank up.

I have to complete all of the errands and bounties at some point, but I need to get to GR20 so I can cap out my level.

    Re: White Knight Chronicles 2

I'm back on WKC2 now. I finished up the RPGs that's been pulling me away. So I'm going to start working on the various things in WKC2. Until FFXIII-2 comes out there probably won't be much else I'll be playing aside from this. So you should be able to catch me playing frequently.

As an update, WKC2 recently received a new patch that is 200mb and includes quite a lot of new content. Guilds are official now, the system is available for NA and EU users. The cost is only $3 so they are pretty cheap to get. Additionally, there is over 100 new items of DLC which varies from georama stuff, customization items and knight things. Also, there have been new tweaks to weapons, skills and overall damage of the roles. There are nearly 20 new quests I think and there are a bunch of new equipment to craft. So there is a lot of new stuff to look forward to when you come back or join us for the first time.

Let me know if you're up for something and I'll be willing to quest with you. I'm not really in a rush to do anything since this is it. So we can enjoy a calm walk up to GR30.

Unless there are enough TFF members playing I'm probably just going to find an existing guild to join. So let me know if you're interested in that as well.
