Very hard decision.
Ps3 and Vita.
The only other console from that list I own is a 3DS, and it's an amazing device. I underrated it vastly. Never realised how many awesome and varied RPG and JRPG games there are for it.
Okay. Let's go ahead and disqualify PC from this question, because it transcends the regular definition of console generations.
What I want to know is this: which system was your favorite piece of hardware in what is now considered the previous generation? This DOES include handheld systems, for what it's worth.
In alphabetical order, here are your candidates:
• Microsoft Xbox 360
• Nintendo 3DS
• Nintendo Wii
• Sony Playstation 3
• Sony Playstation Vita
Handhelds always tend to bridge console gaps, so I opted for the newer models here.

I'm not going to vote but I'll input 360 because I owned it and never touched my Wii after completing Twlight Princess. Never owned a PS3 and I just got a 3ds which is baller but haven't played it a lot.

I'm voting PS3. I dedicated more game time into my Playstation more than any other console, and I preferred the exclusives.
Memories of Uncharted 3 online and the first time I played Heavy Rain being among my favourite exclusive moments. <3
360, if we aren't counting PC.
Halo
Any multi plat was bought on 360 due to my controller preference
Halo
I own more 360 exclusives, wasn't extremely fond of any Sony Exclusives (but Uncharted was a great series)
Halo
More friends, more fun times, etc.
Did I mention Halo?
I will nominate PS3 because it had a lot of great games. I had great fun with the free online play, I like the late-in-the-life F2P games that came out exclusively on the PSN, and it had the capability to play PS1 games, PS1 downloads on the PSN, PS2 games (up until models 2 and 3), and PS2 game downloads on the PSN.
Sony actually brought new media to the table (Blu-Ray discs) at the time and the downside was that the PS3s were super expensive during launch because of both the technology and the engine that ran the PS2 games. I always was fond of the PS3s capability to make virtual memory cards for PS1 and PS2 games to save on and you could save as much games as you wanted as long as your hard drive was big enough for it.
I really enjoyed what sony offered with the PS3 because it did bring me new gaming experiences and I enjoyed playing online with people. Another upside is that I was able to play games that my laptop aren't powerful enough to handle.
Wii will come in second place in my book because it really was a pretty good console despite being a PS2 and Xbox power level system (moreso PS2 methinks), it introduced a lot of fun games like for example: Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, Mario Galaxy, Mario Galaxy 2, Zelda Twilight Princess, Zelda Skyward Sword, Mario Kart Wii, Mega Man 9 (Wiiware), Mega Man 10 (Wiiware), Sin & Punishment 2, Xenoblade, Metroid Prime Trilogy, The Last Story, and Final Fantasy IV: The After Years (Wiiware) (going to stop here because the list goes on).
The Wii actually had a lot to offer for its time, helped people get in shape, re-invented motion control in gaming (since it really has been done before), it also helped people that had medical conditions and health problems.
Not only that, but the Wii also first introduced legalized downloadable classic games from previous consoles (mostly cartridge-based and some isos) and there were loads to choose from. We even were treated to imports like Super Mario Bros 2 for the Famicom, Sin & Punishment for the N64, a european title called Euforia, and some Turbografx imports. I feel like nintendo could improve on this service by featuring online play for the classic titles. Just think about how many people would be on board for online co-op in Secret of Mana, playing through levels in Donkey Kong Country, having Tetris tournaments, or playing through Super Mario World.
All in all, those two systems gave me quite the experience.

I mean my pc is better than all of these so.....
But among the choices I would say the 360. Mainly because it is the one that I played all the time. The Wii is a great system for kids, and playing games when you are shit faced with friends but other than that my Wii collected alot of dust. The ps3 was a good system my only problem was no parties. I couldn't talk to my friends unless I was in a game with them. With 360 I can sit in xbl parties while watching netflix or Hulu so.
I'm that lone vote for the 3DS up there in the poll.
Sounds crazy, right? I LOVE my PS3. It's a fantastic system with a lot of awesome games, many of which I've spent far too much money importing. I play the crap out of it, considering what little time I manage to actually put aside for games.
My 360 was awesome for multiplayer (and Forza, dear goddess Forza) and like three RPGs, and my Wii was great for parties and a handful of stellar RPGs, but in the totem pole of ladies, the PS3 was my bottom bitch. Main squeeze.
Why, then, did I vote for 3DS over PS3?
For every RPG I own on PS3, I own one or more on 3DS.
For every hour I spent playing my PS3, I spent three or more on 3DS.
For every dollar I spent on PS3 games, I spent double on 3DS (and remember, cheaper games on that platform).
Simply put, whether it was the "best" platform or not really isn't even a question; the 3DS was undoubtedly my favorite.
If I had gotten an inkling that more of the Vita products were going to be imported (ALL THOSE DAMN RPGS), it might have knocked on the 3DS's door a little bit, but time will tell with that one.

Right now, I'm gonna have to go with the 360. Granted, I only just got my PS3 and only have The Last of Us, so officially, the jury's still out.
However, I loved the exclusives for the 360. Gears 2 and 3 were phenomenal games with great multiplayer. I also enjoyed the majority of the Halo series.
Then again, the list of PS3 exclusives, and really the only reason I got the PS3 was to play:
The Last of Us
Whatever that giant MGS box set (with MGS 4, duh)
possibly God Of War
Uncharted
Heavy Rain
possibly Infamous
and maybe Twisted Metal as a guilty pleasure
Other than that, I'll probably split any other future major releases between systems until I make a decision on a next gen system. But for now, I figure that if PS4 can't play PS3 games, I may as well make the best of it and play all of the PS3 games that I've wanted to, while they're all relatively cheap to buy.

Aah, public voting! I don't like people knowing my polled opinion, despite my love for stats and whatnot. I'm starting to think I may have a problem. I'm like Intern 2, only with all statistical information rather than only flow charts.
Anyway, the choice for this poll was simple for me. PS3 all the way. But only because it's the only one the list I own, currently. I can say that I like how PSN is free, whereas XBox Live wasn't (it was one of the factors when deciding which console to purchase) at the time (don't know or care about whether that's changed or not). And the fact that the controllers are wireless is cool, though that doesn't mean much, since the others are wireless or handheld. But anyway, I only voted on what I did because it was the only one I own. At this time.
Maybe I should have voted when the PS5, XBoxTwo, WiiUThem, Nintendo TS (Triple-Screen), PS Vitamin C comes out. By then, I'd probably own more of the seventh generation.
Social Group Endorsements, TFF Awards, and Other Accomplishments (Updated December 26, 2013):
Sorry, Generation, ima let you finish, but the Nintendo DSlite is still the best console of all time.
...but I only own a PS3 from this list... so I vote that. Honestly the only things that are important to me are A) does it run games I want to play and B) is the controller comfortable. I can't stomach Xbox for reason B.
loaf voted 360. he wins TFF 2013 biggest troll.
congratulations!
I voted 3DS becuase it's the only one of the bunch that I have. Well there's the wii I bought a coulpe months back... but you all know the story: lack of engaging 3rd party games etc. The Nintendo brand ones just aren't as fun when you're playing alone.
If I could the DSLite would get my vote for the fact that it's a no-frills console with a huge amount of games available to you, and that's not including the GBA games you can play on it too.
So yeah voting for 3DS because it's the closest thing to a 'Lite on the list.

I wish PsP was up there, till recently only 7th generation console I owned. Had tons of fun with Peace Walker, Daxter, Crisis Core, Gran Turismo and Dissidia among some other fun titles. Out of the choices though, I'll go with PS3. To be honest I don't really have much experience with PS3, bought it recently and so far I only have four games out of which two are any good. Had tons of fun with XBox 360, mostly at friends playing Forza and The Outfit against each other.
Sig and Avy made by Unknown Entity
Sry Im late.
My precious pink Nintendo DSlite did it for me last year. Had so much fun playing those lil Zelda games LoZ: Spirit Tracks & Phantom Hourglass, all the Ace Attorney games incl. Investigations, etc etc. That lil devil was the reason I didnt go out with my friends lot of the time last year
In 2nd place would be my sexy Crisis Core LEdition PSP where I played FFVII on it mostly hoho. I took it with me to soo many places even overseas.
3rd place is a tie between my XBOX360 and PS3, that muthaf cost me my arm ($1000) at launch with its 60GB HD but as with every Sony console released always effing worth it. And altho I own a slim one, I still always play on my fat one due to its PS2 BC as I sometimes want to Replay some of my PS2 games on it as well as the PS3 ones - DMC3, Soul Calibur3, MGS2&3.
360.
I owned a 360 for a majority of this past generation, didn't buy a PS3 until this past summer and it hasn't seen much use.
The main reason I prefer the 360? The far, far, far superior controller over the 16 year old Dual Shock design. Microsoft showed the world how to make a better controller with the Xbox-S two generations ago.
I grew up with the Playstation, so, of course, I voted for PS 3. There are a lot of things that should be improved but I'm satisfied. The games are running fine and the online options are great.
3DS because of the awesomeness that is Chrono Trigger and Zeldas.
This is a tough one, going to have to go with 3DS cause I thought it was pretty cool you could play in 3D.
Could I slap my vote at the PSP?
I ney has any experience with any of those listed on the poll, maybe in the distant future sometime I would get a PS3 but for now I like my trusty PSP.
SPOILER!!:
I went with Playstation 3. I've always been a Sony fan at heart. Can't beat the controller for Fighting and Adventure games. When the generation first kicked off, I went with 360 for Halo and Gears. They passed the time for a couple of years but by the end I was back with Sony.
Bahahahaha. I meant to vote for the 360 but thanks to my loving 5 year old she clicked on PS3 instead. Ahh kids. Maybe she's a PS3'er by heart?
Anyways, I do like the 360 far more. I have both and have had nothing but problems with my PS3. Not sure if its because I pre-ordered and got one right when they were released? The main reason I wanted it was for FF XIII, but when they ported it to the 360 (after a few launch delays) I ended up buying it for the 360 platform instead.
I'm by no means an expert, and I HATED microsoft with a passion when I met my hubby. He was the one to intro me to the 360 and I really resisted lol. But, in time it grew on me. Not to mention I absolutely HATE the time it takes for an update. People have mentioned before that it *must* be my internet connection speed but I can assure you that it is fine. The only thing I can think of is that because I don't use it often, its stuck in a massive amounts of updates. Just annoying for it to download said update, restart, the apply the update and then restart again.
Prior to kids, that wouldn't have been an issue. However, time is precious with children and I need to make the most of what I can game when I can.
That being said, I don't believe in console wars. It boggles my mind when people shit talk other platforms... we're all different for a reason. What we like is unique to us. I'm not a 3DS gamer, but I'm not about to shit on someone because they like it. Ditto for wii, wiiU, PS3, Xbox 360, XBONE, PC or any other gaming method. I dunno, maybe I'm too old for convos like this
XBOX 360, Sony was the king and then there was Monopoly soft. The games make the system.
If the Nintendo DS had been included in this poll, I might've voted for that (although it's been a while since I voted in this poll; I don't remember what my reasoning was 100%.) The DS, I spent numerous hours pokemoning it up on, and also a little bit of time on some other RPG's and a Sonic game here or there. If you were to combine the 3DS and DS, that combo might beat out the PS3 for me.
Can't kid myself though. I loved the PS3 so much I bought it twice. I owned a 360 at one point when I first got to Arkansas. That was a foolish mistake. Even though by all accounts and purposes, the 360 should've been the same as the PS3 for me; the games I really like have all been multi-platform. However, I think I just like the layout on the PS3 better. And the free internet. And the built in wifi device. And the built in blu ray player. And the free year subscription to PS Plus that I got with my latest PS3. I also seem to remember the PS3 being more customizable; I put muzaks and pictures on my last PS3. Had that stuff as backgrounds. So mostly bells and whistles made me like the PS3 better, but also I'm just more interested in playing games on the PS3 than I was on the 360, for some reason. Not really sure why.
By far the ps3 was my favourite system. Sony achieved one hell of accomplishment this gen, I mean no company can face all those hurdles and survive.
-Higher price throughout the generation.
-Difficult to program for console.
-Competition has a year and half head start.
-Continuous bashing from the media.
-Being hacked mid-gen.
-BD diod problems reduced launch units from 2 million to 400k only.
Despite all that they were able to sell as many units (even slightly more) than Xbox360 in a shorter time frame!. This can tell you volumes about Playstation brand strength. Job well done Sony Wait for me to have enough for a ps4 and a psvita. Just a little longer
I choose the Wii, mainly because of the Nintendo Virtual Console. I really miss my Super Nintendo, and the Wii allowed me to revisit stuff like all three Super Star Wars games, Super Castlevania IV, and Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts. It also gave me the chance to play some of the games on N64 that I never got the chance to play, since I never had an N64. I never thought I'd get a chance to play Star Fox 64 or Ocarina of Time.
Though, PS3 does sell downloads of old PS1 games on the Playstation store, but I always felt those polygon 3d graphics lacked art value as compared to 8 and 16 bit games. It just wasn't the same. I did spend quite a bit of time on my PS3 playing Chrono Cross, but that was the only game I was impelled to download.
Playstation 3 is a great system, but I put way more time into playing those old Nintendo games then I did playing anything for PS3.
Hard to say but I think I've enjoyed the Wii the most, between all the Virtual Console games, backward compatibility with the Gamecube, and the usual great exclusives like Metroid Prime Trilogy, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, the No More Heroes games(though 1 is remade for PS3 now). I find it very sad Nintendo seems to be ditching motion controls because I feel Skyward Sword got them nearly perfect and it was so much more a joy to simply play rather than the same old buttons(or tacked on waggle like Twilight Princess).
The other consoles do have larger libraries in general, but I find myself sifting through many mediocre games to get to the ones I enjoy as much as Wii games. Most I have for the 360, as I got it in '08, and only just got a PS3 within the past few months to get some cheap exclusives. Not to say there haven't been any good games at all; Halo is fun and the only multiplayer game other than SSB I care to be competitive at. Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, while not as good as the first two, was at least good as more of a tribute and I loved the creative side of it. Red Dead Redemption is sort of flat when it comes to gameplay in missions, and Rockstar should've done more to separate it from GTA, but I loved the style and story and atmosphere. Shadow Complex was a good Super Metroid clone.
Still, I can't help but feel the Wii did a bit more to make itself a unique experience, namely with the motion controls...then again, I haven't tried the Move nor Kinect. Don't know much about Move but Kinect seems much more useful for just the dashboard than actual games. From what I've seen it can be very buggy, and there are no games I'd use it for anyway. That and I feel you can't go entirely without a controller whatsoever, at least not for long adventure games like Zelda. It's just not practical.
Maybe the Wii has more an advantage here, being built specifically with motion controls in mind, so maybe Xbox 1 will implement them better. I don't plan on getting any next gen consoles though until the next Zelda iss announced.
