What are you more excited for?

Since now after E3. Bethesda has announced Fallout 4.

Also with people who search around for Elder Scrolls V, it is to be released sometime in 2010.

Being a fan of Bethesda's games, I can't help but wonder which title the other fans are wanting to play more then the other.

I am more excited about Elder Scrolls V, Fallout 3 was cool and all, but I enjoyed playing Stalker then Fallout 3.

    Oops, meant Fallout: New Vegas

Even tho I liked Fallout I'm more excited about The Elder Scrolls V. ES was always one of the best RPG games for PC and with every new sequel and expansion it was getting much better. Personally I think that Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was the best RPG game that I have played on PC, I found it much better than Gothic 3 and Neverwinter Nights 2. I have played it over 100 hours, not including expansions Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine. So I'm glad and excited to see that Bethesda is going continue to make The Elder Scrols franchise.

I voted Elder Scrolls V. I' played Elder Scrolls IV on the PS3 and it is great! I don't seem to like Fallout 3.

I love the Elder Scrolls games but I havnt played any Fallouts so Im not really looking forwards to that but didnt Fallout 3 come out recently. So Elder Scrolls 5 would definatly be my hype.

Either one, really. I played Oblivion for a while, then picked up Fallout 3 when it came out. I was in the medieval mood when Oblivion came out, but Fallout 3 changed all that. Both were great games, no reason not to play the next in both of the series.

Bethesda really has nothing to do with Fallout 4 (I'm assuming you mean Fallout Vegas, or whatever they're calling it; unless I've missed some rather unmissable piece of news). Obsidian is developing it. I don't even know if Bethesda is overseeing it at all or not. Does it even use the same engine as Fallout 3 or will it be a throwback to older Fallout games, something Obsidian is more known for? No one knows yet as far as I'm aware.

Also, do you have a source for Elder Scrolls V being in 2010? I haven't heard anything about that.

Did I miss that much, or is most of this forum speculation we're going on?

    Until now!

Jin, I'm going by what I've read multiple times, but like every release date, it's never accurate, that is currently the only one I can find. (you always do this lol)

As far as Fallout 4? or the Fallout: Vegas, I never read up on it, I hear it's being released, I'm assuming it's Bethesda if I get poor information, sorry I don't usually check up on these things.

Just doing a bit of snooping around I found an interview with Wired that claims a 2010 date, albeit in a more "I hope we can do it by" kind of way, rather than a "it will be released in" kind of way. The interview was done in 2008 though and we haven't heard anything since, so I'm not so sure if the 2010 date will be met or not. Here's to hoping.

As for Fallout 4, I came across a rather humourous article from Joystiq regarding when we can expect it: "The company's VP of public relations tells Edge that it would be more accurate to expect Fallout 4 'before 2018'". I guess that's why I never bothered to keep that one in my memory bank, haha. Fallout: New Vegas will likely be the next Fallout game released, but, as I said, it isn't a Bethesda project.

So to answer the question, I'm looking forward more to the Elder Scrolls V as 2018 is too long to keep the hype wagon a moving. If it's anything like Oblivion though, it'll suck. Morrowind was far superior.

Loaf is completely right Bethesda Softworks is making Fallout 4. I have checked a little bit and Bethesda Softworks has everything to do with Fallout 4. Fallout 3 was developed by Black Isle Studios a studio owned by Interplay Entertainment. When Interplay Entertainment went bankrupt before game was finished the license do develop Fallout 3 was sold to Bethesda Softworks. However, in 2007 the company purchased the entire franchise, with Interplay licensing the rights to a Fallout MMORPG. Bethesda Softworks has anounced that they're making Fallout 4, as for release date I have read somewhere that it will be for 2011.

Black Isle has been defunct since 2003. Their Fallout 3 never saw the light of day. Bethesda quite clearly used their own engine and developed Fallout 3 from the ground up. Black Isle had nothing to do with Bethesda's Fallout 3. They were making their own.

And we've already established that Loaf was correct about Fallout 4, but thanks for reconfirming it? I wouldn't bet on 2011, but it'd be nice as 2018 is ludicrous. I thought he was talking about Fallout: New Vegas as it's the only Fallout game that we've heard anything about really, but even then, it's not that much.

I didn't know the new Fallout was going to be named New Vegas, I assumed it was just 4. And you honestly think they are going to mess up V as much as they did with IV? Oblivion was on a new console and everything, (yes Morrowind was new on xbox too) but I think they will at least make it way better then IV was by far since they know what NOT to do. That's just me though. I'll play it regardless.

Fallout 4 isn't Fallout: New Vegas. New Vegas is a side project. I just figured that New Vegas was the one you were referring to as Fallout 4 is still a looong ways off.

Regarding Elder Scrolls, I don't think Bethesda considers the changes made in Oblivion to be "mess ups". That's the part that worries me. The game did well and Bethesda seems quite happy with the way Oblivion came together, whether I am or not. If they change it again, I hope they change it for the better this time. I agree with you that I'll likely still play it regardless, but at the end of the day, Morrowind is the one I still play, not Oblivion, so hopefully the fifth installment can finally replace the third.

    Until now!

Well yes I am talking about New Vegas, I didn't know that was the name for it, I thought it was Fallout 4. So the poll question would be more towards New Vegas.

Just for shits and giggles, I figured I'd post the board of directors for Zenimax Media, Bethesda's parent company, as I came across it and could only marvel at its contents.

    Taken from Zenimax's website:

"Mr. Dominguez...Mr. Altman...ZeniMax Media President Ernest Del, Leslie Moonves (President and CEO of CBS), Harry E. Sloan (Chairman and CEO of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc.), Robert S. Trump (President of Trump Management), noted film and television producer Jerry Bruckheimer, and Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr."

    That's insane.

    Until now!

Forgive the double post, but I've got some bad news regarding Elder Scrolls V.

Bethesda game director Todd Howard revealed during his QuakeCon 2009 keynote that the respected RPG maker was working on its next big game but “not talking about it” at the moment. Of course, many probably envision a revitalized trip through the land of Tamriel, but unfortunately, those people would be mistaken, as Howard went on to squash all hopes of another sequel in the storied Elder Scrolls franchise by stating that there are “no current plans” for another game in the series…At least as of yet…

So, nobody outside of Bethesda knows exactly what Bethesda has up its sleeve, but it’s hard to imagine another Elder Scrolls title won’t come our way at SOME POINT. When/if we find out any more on the matter, we’ll let you know firsthand. Now, be sure to share your thoughts, comments, speculations in the comments section below.

This is was posted today, so it's not an out of date statement. It seems that we may never get another Elder Scrolls game. At least in the near future. That's why we don't listen to Wired.

I`m more exited fo elder scrolls V than fallout. I`ve tried both and the elder scrolls oblivion is more for me. Wonderful locations, much to explore, you can use and learn magic, a lot of weponary( also enchanted ones) there are more races you can choose from, plus I love the medieval theme the story wasn`t bad either

fallout 3 didn`t do it for me. the locations was boring, the wepons didn`t felt like me ( I`m more of a sword/ bow person) it wasn`t for me and the story did not entertain me.

look forward to elder scrolls V

    Update the second.

Todd Howard was apparently misunderstood at Quakecon when he said that they weren't making anymore Elder Scrolls games. He apparently just meant that they weren't currently working on one, but that the series would definitely continue. So that's good, but 2010 won't be happening.

    Until now!

It would be foolish NOT to. After the success of IV they would probably have a huge amount of sales. Not to mention there is even more untapped potential that they didn't quite get to do in IV like more voice actors and a better storyline and more engaging quests.

    QFT. Hi Jin! *waves*

I've not played Fallout 3 yet, but I hear it is awesome. I've not played any Fallout game, actually, so I'm more excited for a new Elder Scrolls entry. I'm more of a fantasy fan, anyway. Wonder if my computer could even run Fallout 3... Anyhoo...

I would have to say ES V because I've been more of a bow and arrow + swords kind of guy than guns... Also Magic is much cooler than plasma or flame throwers...
