I loved digimon world 2. I cannot find a pal version of the game to add to my legit collection though. I spent so many hours DNA divivolving and leveling up my digimon. I love the dungeon crawling aspect as well, awesome game.
We had tons of these back then, one would usually read it in a magazine or stumble upon it while in school, it added certain sense of mystery even though most weren't even true. Sadly internet made sure future gamers will never expirience such phenomena, at least not on the same level we did. With that being said you may list some of your favorites.
My favorite myth appears in a game I consider to be by far my biggest guilty pleasure. Digimon World 2. After you beat the game you gain access to Terra domain where apparently you can catch Kimeramon, game's most powerful Digimon. This "rumor" wasn't spread by some random gamer, rather Bandai themselves. It's even in official guide. Kimeramon appears on the last floor (99th) of Terra domain which you can reach in three to four hours, chances of it appearing are 1:600 which honestly is quite discouraging. Not to mention the room it appears in is way too small for you to send enough gifts.
To this day I always thought those were the reasons no one caught it legitimately, without using gameshark that is, but as it happens there's no such thing as battle encounter against Kimeramon in Digimon World 2. Certain programer with way too much time on his hands run through game's code and while there's data on Kimeramon it can only be obtained via gameshark and one particular device that was released only in Japan along the game. Weirdest thing though, Terra domain still glows after you beat it, also only Toy Planes appear on 98th floor meaning there was supposed to be something in there for you to catch.
