I was checking out the games XSEED was localizing that were originally developed by Nihon Falcom. So far this game is being released in Japan, no official word if it will be localized. So what is this game you ask? its titled Ys VS Sora No Kiseki Alternative Saga. Its a crossover spinoff which involves Ys characters and characters from the Legend of Heroes VI game (which is coming soon to america). Its a fighting game with different stages and each character has their own set of moves.
Its looking pretty epic currently, do you think Falcom has a chance against square with this spinoff or do you think Square still has the upper hand? lets hear your thoughts on this game!
Re: Uh-oh, looks like Dissdia has some competition
I freaking LOVE XSEED, so regardless of whether it "competes" or not, I'll likely pick this up. I'm a bit of a sucker for the off-the-wall fighter/action games. The gameplay looks pretty solid, it's got that minor laggy bullet hell style for the big combos, which is actually something I like. I'm sure people will complain "but it's so laggy!" without realizing that that's specifically the style they're going for.
In any case, if it receives a port, I'll grab one for sure. If it doesn't... I'll probably import it anyway, but I'm less inclined to do so if I don't have other players to join me.

Yeah XSEED is a really good company, they've satisfied me very much so (as well as Falcom who are the developers). I also hope this game gets an english release. I'm also really wanting Legend of Heroes which they are planning on localizing next year.
Re: Uh-oh, looks like Dissdia has some competition
I've never heard of any of this. I wouldn't really say it's competition for Dissidia, since at least the general population knows of the characters in Dissidia. These are all characters that nobody's ever heard of or has any connection to, so it's essentially an entirely new fighting game with all new characters. It's more like a Virtua Fighter 1 or Tekken 1, since it's all "strangers."
It actually looks a lot like Star Ocean 2

I don't think Dissidia is in any danger, considering I have never heard of this series of games. But, who knows maybe they're pretty good. I don't know.
Reminds me of Star Ocean and Mario Party 8. The only part that reminds me of MP8 is when all the character speak at once in a really irritating manner.
I'm going through a bit of a The World Ends With You phase right now.

Yeah, I'm going to go agree with Pete and Ralz here. This isn't competition because nobody knows what the Ys series is, and even I've never heard of the other series. (Mostly because it's only in Japan I imagine)
So nobody will know anything about these characters, if maybe just the Ys ones. Which means they won't really care to get this game.
Re: Uh-oh, looks like Dissdia has some competition
While the game looks like something I would enjoy, I've never, ever heard of the series in my life. If I didn't know this was a spinoff of an existing series, I'd have probably bought it thinking it was a brand new series.
The battle sequences look almost indentical to Star Ocean, which isn't a bad thing. The characters look cool too.
While this may be a good game, Square Enix, or more specifically Dissidia, has nothing to worry about as far as competition is concerned. Yet. If they release more outside of Japan then maybe, but for now, no.
