Tales of Zestiria Announced

Namco Bandai's announcement for their next Tales game finally arrived with Tales of Zestiria being the name of the newest in the series. Zestiria uses Zest as part of it's name which they are using as part of the theme of them, for them it is referring to the Zest of adventuring, wanting to return to a more fantasy focused setting. Dragons have been confirmed to be part of the game with them referring to dragons as something that is part of a fantasy setting.

They showed two characters at the announcement, Slay the main character and Alicia a girl seen with Slay. They confirmed that all four character designers from the different parts of the franchise will be working on the game. So it may have a case like with Xillia where part of the cast is divide up among the designers. This is also marked as the 20th anniversary game for the Tales series, likely why they brought all of their designers together.

As mentioned with the theme, one of the important parts for the game they said is they want the sense of exploration to be present. So it is expected there will be a great focus on the world and probably locations for the player to discover. It may also mean an open world game or a return to an overworld map which was used in some previous Tales games.

The combat was only briefly shown in the video. The main character Slay dodged an attack much like in other Tales games. It is unknown how much of a change it will be from recent games like Graces and Xillia, but they said that the changes made were from fan feedback they gathered.

The game has been confirmed for the Playstation 3 and will be coming out in Japan, North America and Europe.

Is it just me or does the title have a similar flow to Vespira? that's what I think of when I hear this new title. Anyways, I'm looking forward to what Namco-Bandai has in store for this new title. I know it's based around dragons and rpgs that have to do with dragons are pretty neat (can't say the same for dragon age though even though i've never played it). I like the characters that were introduced so far, and hopefully this game will have a sweet soundtrack.

Nothing new has come out about the game, but Namco Bandai released a cleaner version of the trailer than the ones found on youtube when they went to the Jump Fiesta event. So I've replaced the old video with a new one that makes a lot easier to see.
