Tales of Symphonia Rumored for PS3 HD Remake

According to a Spanish website, Namco Bandai is going to be remaking Tales of Symphonia and Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World in HD for the PS3. This is currently just a rumor that has not been confirmed by the Tales team producer Hideo Baba or Namco Bandai. However, Hideo Baba has talked in interviews in the past about bring older Tales game to a newer generation and audience, which would imply remakes or ports, like what they have done with Tales of Heart and Tales of Innocence. While still a rumor, there is a strong chance this could be real, especially since he mentioned there would be more news for Tales fans this year.

Tales of Symphonia was originally released on the Gamecube and the PS2 (Japan only) and then the sequel Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World was released on the Wii. This would make the third/fourth Tales games to be brought over to the PS3 if true. Tales of Vesperia was ported to the PS3 as well as Tales of Graces.

Unfortunately we did not receive Vesperia. This be some rumors to me. It seems a tad late in the ps3 life cylce but good games can still come out then like PERSONA 4! I'll keep me ears and eyes open on any futher news. Though I do like the art-style of the game cube version. I was wanting to start over on Symphonia but my gamecube crapped out.

I really wanted to play Vesperia, and I'm still planning on getting Abyss for PS2. If this does happen, I'm totally down since I still regularly play Symphonia.

Yeah, I wish that we got Vesperia as well. I've heard a lot of reasons for why we did not. The one I think that believe is that Microsoft owns exclusivity on it outside of Japan. So they are unable to release the PS3 version. I still want to believe we'll see it eventually.

But the upside is that Symphonia and it's sequel likely don't have those sort of restrictions.

Unfortunately they don't like to develop for PAL regions and I haven't had much luck finding any of the earlier titles in NZ but Graces F is quite enjoyable and I've been watching the Xillia videos and though I can't get the special edition I heard there is plans for a Day 1 edition so I will try to get that.

Hopefully this gets localized, I would love to play Vesperia as well but I'm not buying a 360 for one game (At least the Vita has 3 games I'd be interested in). I saw the bonus DVD before and it looks like they do want to bring more over but there is no real advertising what so ever, even the HDN and Atelier games get mentioned more.

This rumor sounds good and all, but wouldn't it be better to start with a full blown HD remake of Tales of Phantasia since that's the first game of the entire series? *gets thrown out window*

As for the persona 4 thing, I never played that one before nor the 3rd one.
