    Tales of Phantasia

I've been playing this recently. I didn't like it the last time I played it which was back when I was 16 (I lost interest in it for some reason). But now that I'm playing this again, I really enjoy it. Its one of my favorite rpgs now. I think this is the only Tales game I like so far haha. I will at least give the newer ones a try. I'm saving up for a Gamefly subscription so I can rent games from now on after buying FFXIII. I'm digging the voice acting in this game and I like the song used for the main theme of the game.

Anybody else enjoy this masterpiece besides me?

My current progress in the game is at the cave where Undine resides. I'm trying to collect summons for Klarth.

    Re: Tales of Phantasia

I've only played a couple of the Tales series of games, but this was my first (the other is Tales of the Abyss). I'm with you there on that I didn't enjoy it so much at first, but when I actually gave it a chance, I couldn't stop playing. This was the GBA one, by the way.

I think it was the battle system that first bored me, but after a while, I sort of liked it a lot. I can't remember if this happened in the gameplay or not, but doesn't the character freeze a bit when their attack gets parried? Anyway, the skills were very fun to use, and I loved seeing all the different spells. I thought the story past mid-way was really interesting, too. It left me thinking, "What's going to happen? How are they going to fix this?"

Another fun thing was all the exploring you get to do once you get that bird. The summons were the best part. <3 That one dungeon you had to go through without dying to get Pluto(?) was a bit annoying, though, but well worth it.

I actually want to play this again right now, but I don't have it anymore. =3 Plus, I don't know if I can keep playing or not. xD

    Re: Tales of Phantasia

I love the Tales series, but I have not played Phantasia (though I've read slash heard good things). On a side note though, I would advise against Gamefly from personal experience. I had a subscription for six months in which there were 5 games at the top of my list the entire time. I received none of those games for the entire period. It's quite hard to get a hold of the new release and popular titles since there is no reserve ability it's just first come first serve.

Back on topic though; glad you've been enjoying your game. You, much like I, have an RPG to beat in the next 11 days.

While I have not played it I have heard about it. A friend has actually suggested multiple times that I go out and buy. I am not sure perhaps I might...

    Re: Tales of Phantasia

i had downloaded a nice safe emulator and was looking for some sweet game packs and i came along a torrent that had a sick collection of older RPG's and tales of fantasia was included.

out of the 10 games that were in the pack i chose tales of fantasia to be my first and i couldnt have made a better choice.

for an SNES RPG of this style its amazing, the battle screen is awesome and simple, totally would recommend to everyone.
