Stupid @$$ second life?

So recently I have been hearing a lot about this title and it has sparked quite an interest in me; not so much as in "hey I want to play it" but more along the line of "this sounds so stupid, what the hell is wrong with people".

So help me out here to understand the attraction to this title. Its been out for a while and have heard very mixed reviews.

Pros, cons, likes, dislikes, gay, and what ever you want to add. Sure I will throw my twp cents in pretty soon.

um it's like, iunno, i trolled the place. people troll places but actually no.

Ok so some online friends of mine found this RP place where it had a bunch of weapons and gear and what not for your avatar and you had to get the mod or whatever for it and you fought people and stuff, it was cool for like a day...

iunno, it cost money to do stuff still?

I have a friend who is this way into this. He spends like money out of each pay check for shit on this site. I personally don't see the big attraction to it.

I "played" it for a couple of weeks back in early '09. I mostly went around trying on outfits for my avatar, and occasionally talk to random people if they decided to talk to me for whatever reason. There was a pretty neat FF VII build where fans would gather and roleplay. I didn't do that, but I did take a tour of the place. Pretty cool to see all the work and attention to detail that went into it.

Other than that, I got bored pretty quickly and haven't tried it since.

I just saw a documentary about Second Life the other day. Some woman is really famous and rich from designing virtual fashion. I don't really get it to be honest. I've never played it and I don't plan on it.

It's interesting at first but it loses it's flare really fast.
