    Shin Megami Tensei; Persona 3

    Hey guys!

Anyone here plays Shin Megami Tensei; Persona 3 just like I do?
I've been playing this game.. for quite a long time, since I don't have the "everydays" to spend for it.
I'm like 100+ hours already, but still haven't finished it for almost 2 months.

The places in the game is so *sigh* boring.
There's only like 7-8 places you could go throughout the entire game and I really find Tartarus very very not so exciting at all which ironically plays a very important role and should have to spend a lot of time in the game, I've reached the 211th floor and still don't know when it'll stop and how it'll end.

But as the storyline goes, I felt it being so slow and doesn't really give a lot of impact.
And the characters you encounter in the game is so forgettable or at least for me since I'm not playing it everyday, but yeah.. still forgettable, except for some.

Otherwise, the quests or "requests" as the game named it, is kinda challenging and giving the game at least a "worth" to even play it.
Also from time to time, the question given when in the class is pretty clever too.
And building relationship with the chosen characters in the game is interesting too, at least it saves the game from being crappy.

Over-all, I didn't really like it as much as I love other games under Shin Megami Tensei. So yeah, that's about it.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei; Persona 3

I'm playing Persona 3 Portable now, and I really enjoy it. This is my first Persona game, so I don't really have a basis to compare it to any of the others in the series, but I'd like to get to at least Persona 4 some day.

I agree that Tartarus can be quite repetitive, since it's just floor after floor after floor after even more floors of enemies. That's why, when a new block opens up, I try to get through it as quickly as possible. Elizabeth's quests do make it more enjoyable though, except when you have to find the rare swords. I have the worst luck when it comes to those. Also, going when "Tartarus is a little unstable" makes it a little more fun too, since interesting things can happen to the floors and enemies.

I think the story is pretty amazing though. I'm playing in the month of December right now, and I can just feel the dread that the characters are living under, since they have to come up with a decision on what to do on December 31st...not to mention the events that are said to take place afterward. I'll leave it at that.

Once I'm finished with the male protagonist's story, I'm soooo set to play through the female's perspective.

The areas you can go are limited, but the places in Tartarus do end up changing the further up you go. So things get crazier the further you go. But I found the game to be thoroughly enjoyable, with the only compliant being that I can't control the rest of the party. Which is something that Persona 4 fixed and allows you control them. Persona 4 is even better than P3 and I loved the game.

Persona 3 is very long though, but it is only as long as the time you invest. If you don't do any socializing and do very little fighting. The game can go pretty fast, but you miss out on a lot of stuff. I found the side-stories for the friends and relationships you build to really fun to explore and quite engaging. I wanted to see them just as much as the main story.

I really wish I had a PSP, because I'd get P3P so that I could play the female character. I hear the female side is just as well done and not just a carboncopy of the male character. Plus you get to date the guys and learn more about them and build other relationships. I'd probably go for Akihiko-senpai. ^^

I think playing the game in one month game time intervals would probably be the best for the story sake. Try to get through the whole month so that you can get to the next full moon and the story. Then the break you take won't be as disjointed.
Curious? There's no limits but your own imagination.

Persona 3 is also my introduction to the Persona world, so I can't make comparisions. However, I found the game to be amazing. In my opinion, the characters all got good effort put into their developement, even the characters not in your party, the ones you get to socialize with, have very interesting stories.

Tartarus does get boring, and personally the fighting aspect of the game never mattered to me much because the way I see it the fighting is just small part of the game, the story and social links being the most attracting aspect of the game for me. The game world is very limited, though.

What I applaud the most about the game I played, the PSP version (P3P), is that the female protagonists' viewpoint of the story is a almost a whole new story. You have different social links to build, get to see a different aspect of the male characters of the game, and doesnt make you feel like you're just going through the game a second time. It's amazing.

The way I see it, it's a great game.

Persona 3 is the first Persona game I have played, i prefer it over #4, i LOVE the story and how it all gets mixed up, haha. I also really like the fact of relationships and there are about like what, 20 people to know? lol, its crazy, alas with the relationships you make your persona's stronger and gives you the avalibility to make stronger persona's whenever you fuse. I think that this game is totally amazing! Also, with having really strong Persona's you can turn them into weapons, so you can have Beelzebub's skeleton weapon, its AMAZING!!! lol. I also really like the fact that only bosses come out during the full moon, making it worth going to Tarturus, and I love fighting Nyx's Avatar! >.< VERY awesome battle, even tho Junpai kills himself all the time when i forget i have him on rush >.< like wtf? Haha, well, I love that game >.< and I respect anyones opinion about this game, lol

    Final Fantasy games beaten:7,10,13

I really didnt get too much into 1-3, I got about halfway through 6, didnt play 9 that much, and played 12 at a friends house.

You can control the other party members in the PSP version. Ive played through the psp version with both the male and female characters. The female character is great. If you decide to play using her, you will have access to new Social links, Weapons and story events. Its very much worth playing through with her. Its a fantastic game.
