Has anyone heard about this or taken an interest in it?
Someone mentioned it on the IGN Boards. It really seems like an interesting idea. Especially for an MMO.

Now Tera has a very different take on combat in an MMO. Bringing in Aiming.
It still has leveling and gear. Which pretty much still takes away from the "skill" factor. Level and Gear still outweigh skill by a lot.

The Secret World does the exact opposite. It takes leveling and classes out of the picture. Gear is still there, but I imagine its more like leveling up than the typical role gear plays in traditional MMO's. You craft just about every aspect of your character. From looks and gender, to abilities and weapons.
Apparently there is literally hundreds and hundreds of options to choose from. They wanted to emphasize it being your character.

The only real problem I see with this is some people getting ridiculously OP chars. I hope there is some kind of limiting system set in place. If you choose this weapon you can select these skills. Of course they can still have a large list of abilities and a lot of classes sharing those abilities. I just wouldn't want to see someone picking OP healing and DMG abilities.

As to the game, its set in modern times. There is a secret world hiding in the shadows of our world. Three factions fighting for control of the world. The Illuminati, The Dragons, and The Templars. Its very much a game I am interested in. I almost bought the game today, just to play what I could of the Beta that ends at presumably 11:59PM.

So how is it? I just got a new lappy that will be able to handle it. After reading your post I checked out the site and I am definitely inticed!

I only got to play like an hour and a half before the beta closed.
You don't have levels, but you still have an experience bar. I assume that is to gain abilities because you don't start out with all of them naturally.
There is no classes per say, but you can only choose between 9 weapons. 3 melee, 3 caster, and 3 guns.
I got the impression that you could go back at any time and change your weapons. You are only allowed three characters, so being able to switch my weapons is nice.

I wasn't able to do any PvP. The menu was there, but I was not able to join.
Combat was interesting. It was rather fast paced, it didn't seem like I was every really waiting for my cool downs. But other than that its nothing exciting.

I hope to get more of an impression this weekend. Put some more time in.

Haha keep us informed then, I was looking at the pre order packages and almost considered the lifetime one. But I guess it isn't like a monthly membership it says it is actually 30 days of game time you can buy. Is that right?

Seems like it wouldn't be too hard to make character builds after famous characters. Like Neo from the matrix or Jules from pulp fiction. Not saying I would do that but looks like the options will be there. Anyways thanks for making the thread because I'm definitely going to pick it up.

Yes, its 30 days of gameplay. Its a sub, just like every other MMO.
I have a friend code for the next beta I believe if you want it
