PSP GO. Who has it, is it worth it and what can I get?

Since psp go cannot use UMD, I was wondering how Im supposed to play games on it? I realise one can download games from the psn store, but what about psp games? how much are they? and any info related could please be posted here as Im psp GO noob.

my plans were to purchase one and re-buy ff7,8,9 and possibly any others they had available. Something Im concerned about is a lack of space. Am I to understand there is a 16gig harddisk inside the psp go and room for a memory card?

The reason I want to fork out all the cash to have this setup is because my old psp1000 (however loyal it has been to me in the 5 years ive owned it) is now pissing me off. The battery keeps popping out of the back (i think the plastic on the cover may have expanded due to heat) and Im seeking replacement.

the reason I will not get a new psp2000 or 3000 is because custom firmware will not work on them. So id rather have the latest and just purchase the games outright.

What do you think about the PSP go and how would i go about purchasing my old games? Is it going to be expensive? and is it worth it?

The PSPWhat? Oh, that thing. Nobody uses that thing. Don't get it. Get another 1000 if you have to.

And it might be expensive if 20$ a pop is expensive. Although not all PSP games have been made to digital format, so you'll lose out on some of them.

But no, it's not worth it. Get a 2000 or 3000 or even a 1000 if you have to.

Perhaps I should just wait for the NGP? I heard that its going to have compatability for PSP and psn games (as it should). I guess I really only wanted the psp go so I could have the ultimate final fantasy portable gaming system. But I realised, money wise, that would be wasteful.

NGP is supposedly going to play cartridges (similar to a DS) instead of a UMD or other disc format. So, chances are, your NGP most likely will not play any PSP games. As for PSN compatibility, that's an entirely different story.

Re: PSP GO. Who has it, is it worth it and what can I get?

I'd go with a trusty and reliable PSP thousand series. I think I have a 2000, going by the Christmas that I got it, and I've had no problems. It's probably much heavier than the GO, so you might want to invest in a carry case (no brainer, really, if you want your stuff to last a long time). It doesn't have any internal memory that you can use for saves, so you might want to pick a stick up online (you can get like an 8GB for about £16).

With the latest troubles with PSN, the GO isn't going to be so "GO", if you know what I mean. Also, as Vicky mentioned, not all games are in a digital format. It does look cute, dinky and pocket sized though...

Re: PSP GO. Who has it, is it worth it and what can I get?

Kyreaan: No. It is not worth it. The latest UMD format that is being placed out there was stated by the creators to be compatible with both the PSP 3000 and PSP Go (4000). The Go isn't intended as a replacement for the PSP 3000. Also, the hand placement on the Go is not as accepted as the wider placement on the PSP 3000. After sliding out the Go screen, you'll notice closer buttons that can force your wrists to bend a little more inward.

Spiritas: *a fat, drunk moogle floats in the air* It was something they did Kyreaan likes to call kitchy. They wanted to put out a gimmick, and the only thing the market really boosted were threads in cyberspace. They wanted something to put out for a younger market as well. It isn't made for full grown hands or anyone with sausage fingers *hic*.

Kyreaan: Stop hicking, Spiritas. We're talking to people -(ii)-. There have been plans on what the 5000 and 6000 series will look like. People wanted to get funny and put up designs on YouTube. I've even seen a look on XBoxPortable or 360Portable. I don't know if that will ever fly, other than being tossed into a fishing hole. I only bought the 3000 version, and I'll probably hold out until either the 5000 or 6000 will come, or maybe 7000 or 8000. I don't know if I would get the PSP Phone someone thought up.

It is the last game of the entire series.

The first two series, for those of you who don't read or know, were 7 volumes total and all for PS2. There was also an 8th; it was called .hack//Fragment Offline. A lot of people didn't know that I bet. Has anyone read any .hack manga? If you don't plan on getting Link and instead prefer to read, I recommend at least trying out .hack//Link Manga- Read .hack//Link Manga Online for Free at Manga Fox. Let me know what you think.

Re: PSP GO. Who has it, is it worth it and what can I get?

I appreciate all the replies. Im no longer interested in getting one, but Its probably best I dont anyway. I did have a look at where the analog stick was placed and thought that would be rather uncomfortable to use. Just for the record, I currently have a psp-1000 with custom firmware and an 8gb stick. The reason for the custom firmware was because once upon a time, there was no way to play or purchase ps1 games for the psp, so we would use the firmware to enable ps1 compatability after converting to psp format. The reason I didnt want to get a 2000 or 3000 is because the custom firmware will not work. I payed money and therefor; i own my psp. I should be allowed to install whatever firmware I want, being it is my possesion to do with as I please. I would have glady payed for psp GO and payed for all the games etc, you guys have convinced me otherwise. Thank you.

Re: PSP GO. Who has it, is it worth it and what can I get?

I tend to find I prefer my Go to my 3000 in every way bar the lack of a UMD drive and using one single port for power, TV out and the like (which can be rectifiable with the right accessories).

The Go's buttons are tighter, the build quality feels more durable and the device can fit into a phone pocket. It has a slightly smaller screen at the same resolution meaning the image quality looks sharper. It also has some functionality older models lack and I've read articles that PSN bought PSP titles will be reverse compatible with the NGP unlike their UMD counterparts. The best bit is that the device has been discontinued, if you look around you can get one dirt cheap.

Edit: I should also mention I have huge fingers (the middle three on each hand are a US 16 ring size) and the Go still feels better.
