That's a bit silly, really. In my opinion anyway. Why not take advantage and enjoy the games anyway? If you don't try something, you'll never know if you like it. I'd rather get a game I was unsure about or would never try out otherwise for free, than take a risk and part with £20+ for it.
You also say it like it's a terrible thing to do too. If they're giving it out, then why the **** not? Twenty-four days went by without the network. Sure, PSN users lived through it (I don't see why anyone wouldn't lol), but it's still an inconvenience. A lot of people see this as a peace offering, and are coming back to Sony with their tails between their legs. People like me who weren't that bothered about PSN being down feel rewarded for not losing faith in them, and sticking with them for what is considered in the gaming world as hard times for everyone involved.
