lol nobody made a thread for this?
My roommate and friends all got this and I'm in the process of getting a 2DS for Pokemon X. Seems like it's worth the play and I'll be getting it. I played a little bit of it which it's really really good. I haven't touched Pokemon since I was disappointed back with Ruby and Sapphire.
Anyone else?
Thoughts?

For Our Lord Sheogorath, without Whom all Thought would be linear and all Feeling would be fleeting. Blessed are the Madmen, for they hold the keys to secret knowledge. Blessed are the Phobic, always wary of that which would do them harm. Blessed are the Obsessed, for their courses are clear. Blessed are the Addicts, may they quench the thirst that never ebbs. Blessed are the Murderous, for they have found beauty in the grotesque. Blessed are the Firelovers, for their hearts are always warm. Blessed are the Artists, for in their hands the impossible is made real. Blessed are the Musicians, for in their ears they hear the music of the soul. Blessed are the Sleepless, as they bask in wakeful dreaming. Blessed are the Paranoid, ever-watchful for our enemies. Blessed are the Visionaries, for their eyes see what might be. Blessed are the Painlovers, for in their suffering, we grow stronger. Blessed is the Madgod, who tricks us when we are foolish, punishes us when we are wrong, tortures us when we are unmindful, and loves us in our imperfection.
I preordered Y like 6 months ago and it was well worth the wait.
There's so many gameplay changes and some of them are pretty cool, I just don't want to give away too many spoilers this early on. One thing that is odd compaired to the other games is that the first two gyms are really spaced out. I just beat the second one and I'm level 36 and have been playing for 14 hours. Fully evolved starters at this point in the game just doesn't feel right lol
I'd say you picked a good game to return to the series with.
And i made a thread last week

Your thread title says nothing with Pokemon in it. In which case nobody replied to it.

lol i'm not bothered by it, i'm happy we get to talk about the new games.
It's pretty cool having them released on the same date around the world, because we're all going into it relatively oblivious. Provided you managed to avoid all those leaks and spoilers that were going up a few days before they were released.

There are spoilers for a pokemon game?
Get starter pokemon.
Level it up, do a gym or two. Some sort of Rocket Gang shows up. You stop rocket gang. You find legendary. Elite 4, Champion. Continue on.
I just spoiled every pokemon game.

I meant spoilers about the pokemon themselves rather than the story or villains. You pretty much summed those other two up.
In all the previous games we were shown the full pokedex from the Japanese games before they were even released overseas. We were shown maybe 20 new guys before X and Y were released but nothing was said about their stats, where to find them, what they evolve into, etc, and those were only a small portion of the ones we'll see.
I just think it makes a nice change to go into a pokemon game not knowing what's gonna pop up where and if this thing I've been keeping in my party is going to evolve or if it's gonna be another Farfetch'd or Tropius.

I'm told they only added about 70 new pokemon which is nice because it's realistic that some other region will have new and old.

Yeah you can catch a pikachu in the first forest you encounter.
Why is everyone making it such a big deal about the ****ing Pikachu early on in the game? There has been a pikachu in every damn pokemon game.

With all the hype recently I decided to fire up my copy of Diamond only to realize I spent 150+ hours on it and another 90 on FireRed. I was going to pick up Emerald but its going for $70NZD second hand without the box. I will most likely pick up one of them as I want a 3DS for SMT anyway though I may pick up Black or White in the mean time.
and people bitch about Halo and Call of Duty being the same game over and over again...
SOLDIERcHoSeNCrao Porr Cock8- Rebels, Rogues and Sworn Brothers
But with pokemon it's the team you choose that makes each playthrough different. I think the story can afford to stay the same each time because you're given literally hunderds of options when it comes to making a party.

The EXP.Share is amazing in this game. It's a key item that you can turn on or off, and it gives all party members who didn't participate in a battle half the exp. So you can just leave it on for the entire game or while you're levelling up a particular guy and the rest of your team will be half way to the next level by the time you get back to them. It makes a huge difference when they start needing 4-5000 exp each level.

It may not be anything to do with this game in particular, it might just be the nostalgia or it just may be the fact that its the first in the series to recieve a full 3d graphical update. Something I think we all wished for back in the day.
I only wanted a full 3d adventure for the game called
Pokemon Forever
It's an MMO that has all regions and all pokemon. Expansions are just new regions and pokemon.
Now if only they made that.

The only thing is that they would need to fully revamp how levelling up and stats work, because its far too simple the way it is now for it to be considered competitive. And a single really powerful pokemon could wipe out a whole team. The pokemon battling system would need some extreme balancing.
MMOs would be totally different for obvious reasons. I mean the PokeMMO I was playing was just FireRed hacked to allow multiple connections.

Don't save your game in Lumiose city. I don't know if anyone's heard of this but there's meant to be a pretty nasty glitch in the first batch of X/Y games that'll screw over your entire file if you save in certain parts of the city. I've played through the game and probably saved there a couple times but as it only happens in certain parts of the city I guess I might have just gotten lucky.
They're meant to be coming up with a fix that you can download if you have an early copy of the game and it's meant to have been fixed for future releases of it. Wish I could get a link but I'm on IE and it doesn't like having multiple tabs open.

Thanks for that Rowan. So there are two known fixes for this thing if you should get it: Mashing the Home button on your 3DS when you get to the title screen and the music starts, or removing and reinserting the SD card.
So how's everyone going with these games? I finished Y over the weekend and did the after game plot in Lumiose city (which is why i wanted to bring up the glitch) and got all the extra Mega stones last night.

I can't say I've ever really gotten into a Pokemon game until I got Pokemon X. I played Emerald when I was kid, but I've never owned anything prior to Platinum. I've played Platinum, Heartgold and Black, but never really got further than just beyond the first gym. They get dull and boring, repeating the same things over and over, but...
I really love Pokemon X. I'm still only just beyond the first gym, but I'm hunting for my Pokemon still. I have about eight hours in it, which isn't much, but I've had Beyond: Two Souls on the go too. I only bought it out of peer pressure from everyone at work too, and it helped that I'd been playing it a week prior to launch on our store console. It just feels fun, and seems like they've taken a fresher take on Pokemon. The EXP.Share is pretty neat too, saving me a ton of time not levelling my team individually. I'm a little bummed that I can't dress my character how I want yet either - apparently, I'm not stylish enough. I thought that was rather rude.
Also, I made a big deal about Pikachu because he makes me happy. And I'd never caught one before, soooo... there, loaf. =P
Unfortunately I havnt picked it up in a while because I messed up my pokemon picks. I picked the fire starter, then realised you could pick from the original starters too! that was a surprise, and I had to pick charmander because charizard.
So I have 2 main fire starter fire types.
You mean because MEGA Charizard? Mega Charizard X is one beastly mother****er.

Did anyone get the Torchic from Mystery Gift? Mega Blazekin with Speed Boost!
And for once the Grass starter actually learns a variety of moves and has the attacking stats to back them up.

And mega Mewtwo Y is just a ****ing monster, highest Sp Attack in the game, the first to exceed an attack form Deoxys.
Mega Scizor is pretty sweet too, multiplies the base power of moves with 60 or lower base attack power by 1.5, so you can get 90 base damage out of 60 base damage moves, which usually have extra abilities.
Mega Aggron is another****ing monster, tied for first in base defense, on par with Shuckle, and it resists 25% of supereffective moves. With the hidden ability that doubles its weight, a heavy Slam will OHKO just about anything. The only pokemon that outweighs him in battle is Groudon.
Mega Lucario has the same type attack bonus raised from 1.5x to 2x, so steel and fighting moves hit like a train.
X and y introduced some pretty beastly mother****ers.
