Pixeljunk Eden...and Other Stoner-Like Games

So, I just wanted to make a thread and ask if anyone enjoys playing games like Flower, Flow, Eufloria etc.? I just stumbled on Pixeljunk Eden, and I like it more than I thought. It's strangely addicting. I'm attracted to the cool artsy simple games sometimes to take a break from the crazy rpgs and complex story lines.



It's nice to relax the brain for a while.

What do you think of them? any suggestions?

Wow pixeljunk looks obscurely fun, I like that. Its interesting how you're a little dot just making your way across random parts of the screen and you can do different things. Its pretty inventive. I'm into obscurely fun games, shoot, I played a bunch of translated emulator games that are like that.

As for Eufloria, that ones kinda over my head, couldn't really understand what was going on.... is it some sort of plant simulation game where you're taking care of flowers? thats all I could make out of that game.

I know of a game I'd recommend in this thread, I haven't played it myself, but its called VVVVVV. It's a retro style platformer and you manipulate a stick person and hes trying to rescue his crew members and you can alter his gravitational movement. Its for PC and 3DS.

EDIT: Almost forgot! you can't mention fun, simple without mentioning smartball! its for SNES/SFC and i play it alot on an emulator, i used to have the actual game back in the day. (not really artsy, but it has really fun levels)

Even though they seem random, there's an objective in them believe it or not.

Pixeljunk: you play as that little bug thing in eden which is basically your central hub to all of the levels. To progress you have to make your way through other gardens and spread pollen to sprout other plants for you latch on to and find spectra. The levels are really pretty ^^


Eufloria is more of a strategy game and slightly more complicated. You basically start off on one planet or asteroid. You need about 10 seeds ( the tiny flying things) in order to plant more trees ( trees give you more seedlings where serve as your army) you basically have to move along and take over 1 planet at a time but there are other "enimies" territories that you need to take over.
When you finish the main story you get other sub quests and dark matter mode or something haha. That's it simplified anyway.

If you ever wind up playing VVVVVV, be prepared to die...a LOT. Especially in the Veni Vidi Vici portion of the game. There's a bunch of checkpoints scattered throughout the game, so you'll never be too far from where you died. The music is pretty good too.

As for other games, if you enjoyed Flower and Flow, there's another game from thatgamecompany slated to come out this year called Journey. So that's something to look forward too. :3

If you had a Wii, you could invest in a little game called Endless Ocean. You basically take control of a diver and take pictures of all the undersea life that you find. I thought about getting a copy sometime. ^^

Oh yeah! I believe THIS fits well in the category like the other games mentioned. This is a certain puzzle game I love to play i'm sure both of you heard me talk about this one and link you to videos.

Tetris Attack

I also highly recommend Wario Ware. It has tons of random 5 second minigames and you can find them on the following systems: GBA, GameCube, Wii/Wiiware, and DS.
