    Other RPGs

    Hi

It's been a while since I've played FF but I've got the itch to get back into RPGs again.

I've played all the FFs up until 12 and I've played a few others too. Shining the Holy Ark, Shining Force 3 (parts 1 & 2) and Phantasy Star 4 (partially)

What games/series would you recommend for me to get back into them. I'm stuck with only a PS2 but I have managed to play Saturn discs on my laptop, and I can use emulators for NES/SNES/Mega Drive

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Off the top of my head, Tales of the Abyss, Dragon Quest VIII, Radiata Stories. If you like action-RPGs, Star Ocean 3. Oh and Suikoden, I'm apparently one of the few people who liked IV, though tbf I never did get to play the first three games.

There are tons of good rpg games that are out on the snes, you should give them a try. Which snes games have you played and liked? I can give you more info from there

Then again this one is kind of on the outs with me if she doesn't straighten up and fly right so that means I will be back in it for the thrill of the kill. Got some in the reserves. Even got a rePETEr (<---- like that ay? AYYYYY?) on the back burner.

Block: I do like the rePETEr except it kinda makes it sound like you're going to pork Pete. No homo.

The only SNES RPGs I've played are the FFs. 4 & 6 were fantastic!
    Suikoiden looks interesting too.

I liked what I played of Xenosaga Episode I. Episode II, not so much. Haven't yet purchased Episode III. Other than that, pretty much what everyone else has put.

I have also partially played Phantasy Star IV. And II, and III. I liked what I played of each of those. They are featured on Sega Genesis Collection for PS2. Along with Sword of Vermillion, another good RPG game.

    Let me see...

I highly recommend the Shadow Hearts series. An unique bbattle system that keeps the player engaged in combat. Has a lot of humor but it is a part of a serious tale. The stories are darker than most rpgs, w/ the exclusion of probably the shin megami games - another series you should check. They also have an alt. history story going along as well. Well maybe a supernatural twist to history would be more correct.

Suikoden III-V are good games, my favourite being V. Political storied games with different forms of combat in them. Regular rpg fair, duels, and army/naval battles. You can recruit up to 108 unique individuals to help your cause in some way.

Dragon Quest VIII is a very good choice. A classic rpg with excellent voice acting and plenty of side content to go along with the standard journey like two casinos and a monster arena. Oh and alchemy, can't foeget about the time spent there. Oooh and mini medals, got collect them all.

Tales of Legendia and Tales of the Abyss. Both have good stories though I find the latter's to be stronger whilst the former has the better characters and humor. Combat is similar to Star Ocean or if you have played any tales game.

    Main series FFs Beaten - FF: 4x, FFII: 3x, FFIII: 3x, FFIV: 3x, FFV: 3x, FFVI: 4x, FFVII: 5x, FFVIII: 5x, FFIX: 3x, FFX: 4x, FFXII: 3x, FFXIII: 2x, FFXV: 2x
