I reccomend you play some disgaea games. If you enjoy grinding, you will easily clock over 200 hours in that game.
and by that I'm bored and need some new video game recommendations!
I don't play single player games much anymore due to finishing them too fast and well most of them being shit! However multiplayer games are also mostly shit these days now also i find, only one on the horizon i have a slight bit of hope for is titanfall.. But thats next year!
Now Im bored and am looking for a new game, I've neglected interest in single player games alot over the last couple of years due to my love for multiplayer gaming, so need some help in choosing a new game to play as i havent got a clue.
I have a PS3, 3DS and PC, i would like a game with a solid story, something i can immerse myself in, last single player games i enjoyed were skyrim and castlevania lords of shadow.
The one currently at the top of my list is the new pokemon game but im thinking ive played one recently and its likely just another generic pokemon story and will involve me doing the usual pokemon dojo's and then taking out a big boss and that will likely be it outside the gotta catch em all shiz, and thats making me think id be better going with something else, with an actual story. Or am i wrong and the new pokemon is off the wall and has a good story?
Anybody got any worthy recommends? remember the story has to be epic and a longish game, meaning i dont want to be seeing credits rolling within 2-3 days
Help meh!

I would say pick up a Tales game. The PS3 has Tales of Graces f and Tales of Xillia both at great games with tons to do and a good classic feel to them. They have multiple difficulties as well, so if you feel the game getting easy you can bump them up. There is a lot of replay value as well. On top of that next year Tales of Symphonia HD and Tales of Xillia 2 are hitting, so if end up enjoying them. You'll be in store for more soon.
Dark Souls is another great game to get immersed in. The story is something you have puzzle out yourself rather than being told clearly to you. It continues to astound me the depth of a story you can find in the game that people have discovered by merely reading about the history of items you find in the game.
Curious? There's no limits but your own imagination.

Thanks Andro, I'll keep an eye out for them in store next, although they do look like the kinda games that don't reach my shores.
And Rowan i don't enjoy grinding really, not anymore anyway, i play wow mostly these days
Any other potentials people? keep em coming!!
I went with Pokemon Y in the end, I'm pretty sure pokemon is the last game i got when i last made one of these threads too..
Sad times!
Demons Souls is much better in my opinion, one of the most difficult games I've played and i think they toned it down a bit for Dark Souls. Still haven't finished it, got to a point where I was grinding stupid amounts of items for the weapons and then I think another game came out haha.
In terms of recommendations (I know you said you bought pokemon already ) Dragon Age: Origins is pretty awesome, I got the ultimate edition with all the addons when I first got out on tour and I'm still playing it 4 months later. Also there's an Elder Scrolls anthology out now I think, not checked for a while. Morrowind is a pretty epic game if you're not too fussed about next gen graphics.

Demon's Souls definitely felt harder, but I do wonder if some of it is not just because I was used to Dark Souls from having played Demon's Souls. So it was not going to be as challenging. I knew the systems and the way enemies generally worked. Though the flasks made it a little easier, but also harder at times. Demon's Souls was a little more forgiving on healing, since you could stock a large supply. It felt like Dark Souls was more polished and refined from the game Demon's Souls was. I think some of the level design in Demon's Souls is better. But the more open world of Dark Souls made exploration more rewarding and the uncertainty of what was next and if it was going to completely kill you or not made it more enjoyable. The story Dark Souls had to tell was a lot more interesting along with the characters.

The Elder Scrolls anthology was such a good buy, I'd recommend it to pretty much anyone.
For Our Lord Sheogorath, without Whom all Thought would be linear and all Feeling would be fleeting. Blessed are the Madmen, for they hold the keys to secret knowledge. Blessed are the Phobic, always wary of that which would do them harm. Blessed are the Obsessed, for their courses are clear. Blessed are the Addicts, may they quench the thirst that never ebbs. Blessed are the Murderous, for they have found beauty in the grotesque. Blessed are the Firelovers, for their hearts are always warm. Blessed are the Artists, for in their hands the impossible is made real. Blessed are the Musicians, for in their ears they hear the music of the soul. Blessed are the Sleepless, as they bask in wakeful dreaming. Blessed are the Paranoid, ever-watchful for our enemies. Blessed are the Visionaries, for their eyes see what might be. Blessed are the Painlovers, for in their suffering, we grow stronger. Blessed is the Madgod, who tricks us when we are foolish, punishes us when we are wrong, tortures us when we are unmindful, and loves us in our imperfection.
If you want a good story and some depth, I recommend Ys Origin and Oath in Felghana. They aren't that long, but they will take you a good few days to get through, the bosses are pretty hard and requires some grinding and you do get some in-depth story. Origin has 3 playable characters with different storylines (like birth by sleep). If you want to increase the length of the game, you can play it on a harder difficulty mode (it will be brutal though).
Cave Story is another good game, it is a bit on the short side but there are different difficulty modes if you want to challenge yourself. The game also has multiple endings. There are 3 total and someone made a 4th ending you could get by editing the game. It is on steam, 3DS, and wiiware. There is also a freeware version of it which is provided free by the person who made it (it only has the original soundtrack and graphics though).

I actually preferred the way the Demon's Souls story went to be honest, everything felt like it fit together properly where as in Dark Souls some of it, like the bosses, felt a bit empty like there was no backstory to them. Demon's is definitely harder than Dark, even friends that played Dark first have said that, especially when it comes to bosses. I felt like most bosses in Dark Souls could be kited around and killed first time, they were a lot more predictable.
In terms of longevity Dark Souls definitely wins out, it's 3 or 4x bigger than Demon's, however I prefer the way you have the Nexus in demon's souls to do all your travelling around. I really hated backtracking for ages in Dark Souls, it made me not want to go back to places I've done before which in a game like this is really detrimental as you generally have to do it to get the better weapons.
To me everything felt a lot smoother in Demon's Souls, I'd even go as far to say its in my top 5 games of all time now. It seems to be a bit like the FF series, some of my friends love Dark Souls and others love Demon's, and no-one is prepared to budge haha.
Go back and play video games you never got to.
I've been wanting to do that, I want to play Mother series (the ones I can) and Tales games as well.
