    Nes

NES is celebrating its 30th birthday, discuss your fond memories of this system and its games here.

NES got me into gaming even though Atari 2600 was my first console. NES would be my second favorite console mostly due to, I won't lie, nostalgia. It has so many games I hold dear, Battle City, Contra, Dr. Mario, Duck Hunt, Excitebike, Ice Climber, Lode Runner, Super Mario Bros, Tetris, Wild Gunman...

Battle City would be my favorite game on NES, to this very day it's one of the best multiplayer games I ever played. Wild Gunman used to scare me when I was a kid, Contra was one of those games your were proud you managed to beat. I also missed out on a lot of classics like Final Fantasy, Megaman, Super Mario Bros 3, Zelda and some other, I did however get to play some long after their release.

Loved Mario Bros 1 on the nes. Other than that, didn't play it that much, because SNES came out with All Stars and Mario World.

Time warp! *wwhhhhhoooosssshhhhh* My older brother used to have a nes and kept all the nes equipment in a super nintendo box. He owned games like: Pirates, Romance of Three Kingdoms, Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt, Super Mario Bros 2, Final Fantasy, and Punch Out. I'm pretty sure he owned more but I don't remember what the other games were. Out of those games, I've played Punch Out, Pirates, and Final Fantasy the most. Punch Out is such a fun game, I liked trying to get through the different boxers and figuring out how to dodge them. Pirates is another great game I still play from time to time, its an open-world nes game where you get to explore the Caribbean Sea and go on missions, raid towns, capture pirates for fame, and marry one of the governors' daughters.

Time warp to many years later *wwhhhoooosssshhhh* I bought a nes from a used game store at one point and bought about 8 games for it. I got: Maniac Mansion, Ninja Gaiden, Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt, Super Mario Bros 2, Super Mario Bros 3, Zelda, and I also bought Pirates. It was my very first time beating Zelda 1 when I played it through. I also had a SMB marathon one day and beat them all in one sitting.

That has been my experience with the NES. Pro tip: the top loader model of the nes is region free if you are interested in checking out the european and japanese titles. The coolest thing about the NES would have to be the Japan only games that have been released and that disk system technology they also had.

I devoted so many hours to Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt. But I became truly engrossed once I came across The Legend of Zelda. I was 5 years old when I beat the game, and then started playing it on Second Quest. I don't think I ever beat that, but I sure played the game a lot.

Borrowed Dragon Quest (Dragon Warrior here) from my older brother's friend, too. I needed help reading at the time, and had my brother do the reading for me until I was able to read it myself not long after. I never did finish the game, but it was my introduction to RPGs, and I loved it.

Bomberman II we would play at another one of my brother's friend's house. I made his friend rage so many times.

Zelda II and Castlevania II were some of the last games I played on NES, I think. I still haven't finished those games, and I tried recently. I would often stay home from school due to sickness and would spend all that time playing those.

    Those were good times...
