Wanted to make a discussion thread about the classic mega man games because this forum is lacking some mega man love! What is (or are if you have more than one) your favorite mega man title(s)? What do you appreciate most about the franchise? And do you think Capcom should continue creating games for the classic series?
EDIT: Forgot to answer these myself. My favorite titles are: Mega Man & Bass, Mega Man 8, Mega Man 7, Mega Man 6, and Mega Man 3. What I appreciate most about the series is the world it created over the years. I think Capcom should keep the series alive by inventing new stuff into the series and they still need that tie-in game that leads off into MMX.

As far as classic series goes my favorite is Megaman III, I'm ashamed to say I never managed to beat it, have it on my GameBoy along with the very first Megaman. What I love about classic Megaman is how ridiculous some of the robots are, Top Man for instance, it's all part of this series charm though.

This shouldn't come as a huge surprise to anyone who knows me or follows my blog, but I appreciate the music the most. Most Mega Man tunes follow a repetitious pattern that, to me, is fantastic. It is like poetry without words. I like it. The Capcom Sound Team did a great job making so many damn catchy tunes.
But this might be surprising: I like how the formula rarely changes. Sure, you might collect a new robot sidekick or two along the way, or you might fight some bosses other than the main eight. But there are always EIGHT (unless it's the first game when there were SIX). Eight is the magic number. The final boss is always predictable, even when he goes by the name Mr. X. He always wants to rule the world with EIGHT(SIX) robot generals and a lot of tiny robot guys in construction hats.
The games are just pure fun. Great, great sidescroller series. I may like them more than Castlevania or Mario---and that says a lot.
EDIT: I hope that the inclusion of classic Mega Man in Super Smash Bros signals a rebirth of sorts. I'm not holding my breath for new games in the classic series but I would happily settle for HD remakes of the originals.

Have you guys ever listened to the fan remixes people have made for the games? I've been listening to a lot of sega genesis style remixes. Here's a great remix of Air Man's stage as an example of the many sega remixes of the mega man series music.

My favorite OS are, in this order: 3, 2, 9, 5, 6, 10, 4, 1, 8
X series: 1, 2, 4, 3
...and...the BN series can go die in a hole with the ZX, Zero and ALL PORTABLE PLATFORMING GAMES CAN DIE IN A HOLE(which is what you end up doing if you play them anyway)

Am I the only one who likes Mega Man 7's soundtrack? I know MM7 is one of the most hated of the series.

I wouldn't say I hated the soundtrack (or the game), but it's not particularly memorable to me. There are some tracks I like but those are far outnumbered by the ones I don't.
I feel that way about Mega Man 1 and 10, as well: few diamonds, mostly rough.

Mega Man 10 had some good ones! Nitro Man, Wily Level 2, Solar Man, Commando man...those were all great. The others...less so, I admit.
