    Luminous Arc

    If you haven't heard of the series, it's a tactical RPG for the Nintendo DS, and there's currently three games out (unfortunately the third, Luminous Arc 3: Eyes, hasn't been released outside of Japan).

    I usually have great difficulty getting into tactical RPGs. I usually play the first battle, and it's over. Before this, I think the furthest I'd ever got in one was in Fire Emblem, and don't think I'd gotten very far in that! But anyway, I'm finding this a very easy series to get into, and I'd say a good starting point for beginners to tactics games. I especially love the story so far, and the relationships and humour between the characters.

    Playing as Alph, you can't really develop them in terms of how you play the game, but using Intermissions, you can earn items from the other characters and develop a stronger bond with that character. I think it changes something at the end of the game, of there's a special scene with that person - not sure yet (not letting myself read the wiki as I spoil everything for myself ><).

    I'm still halfway through the first game, and about three chapters into the second game, and I'm finding it hard to put down. Was curious if anyone else had played any of the games? Like/dislike?

    Re: Luminous Arc

    I've had Luminous Arc 2 in my DS for who knows how long, and I'm still at the beginning of the game. I would have picked up the first game, but the friend who turned me onto the series said not to bother with the 1st. So I didn't.

    I really like it though, but tend to get distracted by other games. =-=

    The first one doesn't seem all that bad. It's slower, if anything, but I haven't played enough of the second game to make a good comparison. The graphics is a little better in the second game too, with brighter colours. And maybe the controls are better in the second game too - took me a while to work out how to switch from stylus use to directional pad... and then to tweak it so that up is left. xD;

    Another good thing about them is how cheap they are. The second game we got for £15 with Harvest Moon at the Rising Star booth at MCM. First one didn't cost me more than £10 (not inc. p&p).

    Re: Luminous Arc

    I've currently been going through game after game on the DS trying to find something I like. Currently I've gone through 18 games, mostly rpgs and action games, and I can't find anything I don't get bored with after 1-5 hours of gameplay. Except for Final Fantasy 4 on the DS; love this game and to see all the graphical and music updates since SNES is entertaining.
    After checking out some youtube videos the battle system looks just like FF tactics except for you can actually move through people. Plus the voice overs and sounds are very cool! I'll have to check out this series soon.

    If any of you have any other suggestions for DS game that you call your favorites I would greatly appreciate you PMing me those. Just tried out the Megaman series for DS and am thoroughly disappointed and after they nixed the MMO megaman; word is that they're going to fade out any future Rockman series entirely. =[
    Well, I am going to try out Metroid Prime Hunters now but I'd like to see more of these DS game reviews that you guys recommend. Thank you

    If you're looking for great games, look up Advanced Wars, Fire Emblem, Sands of Destruction, Etrian Odyssey, Golden Sun... among others.

    But anyway, what I enjoy about Luminous Arc is that it's not only a tactics game, but also a Dating Sim. xP
