Lufia II/Estopolis II question

I was wondering how the spell element weaknesses work exactly? Some of the spell names are kind of weird and its hard to tell which element does what. Another question I have is what spell works best against stone-type enemies in this game?

EDIT: ok I really need help solving the puzzle in the picture i uploaded. the trick is to move 2 yellow blocks and 1 red block to make the whole pattern a yellow color.
