Classic Red Colour, Blood for life.
Green! Green is life!

Screw the lifebars! I want numbers for the health!
"Well... This has made me wonder... Im some games, You have a lifebar or something that shows your health, What colour do you think the lifebar should have all the time?? I mean... Really?!"

I would want numbers. Because then when I get hit, random numbers would pop up around me, and no one would have to waste time saying "are you okay?" Also, its much more precise =P
I have to go with the color red for the exact reason stated in the poll. Blood is red (outside the body), so I like my lifebar to be red.
Overall, the life bar is not that important to me. What drove me nuts when I was playing through the series again was the games where they left off your max HP. I always had to mentally keep track of what their max was to know what cure spell to use. Even with a lifebar, you still have to calculate that shit unless there is a visible total... otherwise you're wasting MP. If it means dropping the life bar so I can have CURRENT/MAX then go for it.
I'm playing Pokémon as I'm typing this, so I went with green. xD
Though, it's a bit annoying when you don't know specific numbers. Although, watching a life bar go down, down, down in one blow is very satisfying.

I would prefer the life bar to be red, mainly for the symbolism, but I voted for numbers. Having number's helps me strategize, plus I enjoy doing the math.

I'm going to go with green, but that might be because everything I'm playing lately has green. But I prefer the green = life, red = low life, or damage taken.
Just how I see it. Red is usually an eye catching color, so I like it to be used sparingly.
I'm used to seeing green as the life bar in most of the games that I play even though it probably should be red but I'm gonna vote for green. I personally would prefer a number health like in the FF games but those change colors too from white to yellow and then of course red when you are killed.
Wanna Know More:
I prefer numbers, but I also like the bars that change colour, like for example, Green for healthy then yellow, then red for near death.
However, it depends on the type of game. I prefer life bars for fighting games, because it is the way I am used to really, but for any other games I prefer numbers or perhaps both.
I also am more of a fan of numbers then bars; specially if the bar is surrounded by other bars or are so faint that they are hard to see. I also hate when you have to go to a completely different screen to see what you current condition is, this leads to some serious accidental deaths.
As for color I would have to say I like the standard color of red, it stands out.
Also blue for MP and green for additional bars. It would be nice to see them fade along a similar color spectrum though and have numbers. Obviously the color would just be for a quick reference.

I want it to blend in really, the ones in Metroid always did a good good as part of your display. I hate when they bleep if I'm low on health though, especially when I'm very low. The sound Zelda games make when you're down to half a heart, it haunts me.
I'm more partial to life orbs or hearts or actual objects representing health rather than a bar. Zelda's method is the method I view as being the most "natural". Red objects as health, green bar as magic.
Until now!
Like in Contra, or something? I was trying to think of what you meant-if you just meant you were a badass gamer and never got hit-and then that occured to me
Um, I don't care what color the healthbar is... I've played games where it's also grayish-white, or there's a number of little tabs, or hearts, or something. I suppose I like a numbered system best. Or maybe a combination of numbers and a health bar, like in recent Final Fantasy games. Anyhoo...

I guess gears of War tried not to have a health bar,or at least in a traditional sense of one.
If you get hit the crimson omen flashes in the middle of your screen, and the solider the colour the closer to death you are.
Isn't that distracting as it happens when you're shot but doesn't block your view and fades fairly quickly.
i like number better
they acually tell me how much life i have

I think that the health bar should be green. . .
when you use health items, what colour appears in the animation?
Green! (In most games made by square)
When you use health magic, what colour appears in the magic animation?
Green! (Like most games aswell. . .)
Green is health, it should be GREEN!. (i chose green, btw on the poll incase you did'nt guess?
Oh, but also needs to have numbers, so you know how much HP you have, that's good
