The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Do you plan on getting and playing it? I was anxious for the game a year or so ago, but during that time, almost nothing was known about the game, well when it came to a release date and all that kind of stuff. Now, I happen to look it up and it's being released here in the US in just 7 days. Can't wait for it. It's come at just the right time too. I'm getting near the end of my current playthrough game and I should finish around that time. I don't think I'm gonna like the motion controls too much, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. It connects with the story of Ocarina of Time, so that's a big plus. I don't wanna wait 7 days. I want it NOW!

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

There's already reviews saying this is the best Zelda game so far, however, I'm sure reviewers said that about Twilight Princess as well, but I didn't care for that one. It certainly looks very pretty from what I've seen of it though. ^^ I think I'm going to wait a bit before I actually buy it, because I have my Wii packed up, and I don't wanna unpack it before I know for sure if I'm going to get it.

If I do get this game, I'd also have to get a Wii Motion Plus. :/ Gah... My wallet is begging me for mercy already.

Luckily, the extra controller I bought a while back already comes with Wii Motion Plus inside it.

I sold my Wii a while ago. Never looked back, but now I want to play Skyward Sword. I don't think buying a new Wii for 100$ and the game is worth it though, as I'd probably play nothing else on my Wii after that.

I stream Bloodborne, FFXIV, and occasionally other games.

Bad Move, the Wii is the best.

I got it Pre-ordered and will have tomorrow or Sunday. Twilight princess will be hard to top.

I think I'm screwed out of actually getting it on the release date (Sunday). I pre-ordered it online and so I might have to wait until the next day mail runs, Monday.

Twilight Princess is my current favorite of the series, but I can see how it could be easily topped by SS.

From the little I've seen of Skyward Sword, it already reminds me of Ocarina of Time, which it should, being a direct prequel to OoT, supposedly. And from all I've heard, Skyward Sword is great. Just wish I didn't have to wait till Monday.

OoT is overrated, TWW rocked but TP surpassed it. I'm excited for SS, but ti doesn't keep with the TP anticipation, which in my life is topped only by The Dark Knight.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Okay, here I am. Pretty disappointed with Twilight Princess. I mean it had some good parts, but I felt kinda underwhelmed compared to Wind Waker.

I thought I'd go into SS as blind as possible. No strategy guide and see as little media as possible.

I just passed the first dungeon. What do I think so far? Pretty awesome actually! The artstyle is great. I really like a lot of the NPCs this time around. And despite numerous "tutorial" dialogs there's not nearly as much "hand-holding" as previous Zeldas. It actually reminds me of Okami (which I enjoyed far more than TP) because like Okami, they don't make things brain dead easy for you for so long unlike Zelda games. I mean hell, even big Skulltulas keep you on your toes this time

I'd say my only beef is the motion controls. I must be sitting at a weird angle or need to adjust my sensor bar, because the controls get kinda funky for me when sword fighting and flying.

Don't think it actually uses the sensor bar at all, it uses motion plus so uses different technology. Quite enjoying it so far, but did rate twilight princess above wind waker, found wind waker seriously let me down in terms of number of dungeons whereas twilight princess actually surprised me towards the end as felt like it was padding the game out with those wolf-form collect quests before each dungeon but then delivered big with some amazing dungeons with awesome items late on in the game.

Yeah with the motion plus you don't actually have to be aiming at the bar to use it. I don't even know if the aiming items require you to have the controller pointed at the screen. The game was built with motion plus in mind.

In other news it's the best selling game in the franchise. Almost didn't buy specifically because it was on the wii.

Glad I did buy it though, it definitely is a great game. I love how Zelda and link are much more intertwined in this game, rather than just meeting the princess later on in the game.

Controls are extremely smooth, haven't had too many problems at all.

Looks like I've no choice but to get Wii and the game. If you're a Zelda fan, it's worth it.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Oh man, this zelda game was the best I ever played hands down besides ALttP. The storyline was really engaging, it had some frustrating landscapes but these kind of landscape made the game worthwhile and caused me to be eventually enjoy playing through them (lunaryu desert anyone?).

The swordplay was really well done. I liked how it took a bit of strategy to take out the monsters rather than just simply hitting them and knocking them out (then again Wind Waker had some strategy to its gameplay). The music is absolutely beautiful, I now normally hum to the ballad of the goddess, very catchy tune!

As for replayability, I can easily say this game deserves multiple playthroughs. its a massive game for a zelda game and chances are you didn't get EVERYTHING during the first playthrough. Another reason for playing is:
    Spoiler:
    Hero mode difficulty!!

You can tell I enjoyed this game to death.
