...means nothing to no way
iPhone gaming
I figure there's probably at least a few iPhone/iPod touch gamers around considering the devices have the next biggest slice of the pie after the DS (quite a big jump in a single year tbh),
and figured it might be interesting to set up a thread mentioning favourite games, discussing the platform in general, whatever really.
As far as the iPhone goes as a gaming platform, I find it great, though I do hate not having proper buttons even if some games find other ways to still play quite well regardless. One of the things I like the most is the price of the games. Some are a dollar, most are under five or ten dollars.
I like the old skool titles/remakes/sequels considerably and some of them are exclusive to the iPhone. And then you have the RPGs. There are a lot of mediocre RPGs, but a few really shine, and once again some can only be found made for the iPhone. Zenonia is one such favourite of mine and I'm looking forwards to the sequel greatly.
I had a cleanup of my iPhone the other day as my games/apps went for several pages (now it's down to 5), but some games I currently have on there and am playing include:
Final Fantasy (basically seems a simplified PSP port)
Final Fantasy II (as above)
Soosiz- A platformer not unlike older mario games in some ways with interesting bosses, nice visuals and featuring a gravitational pull on areas so at times you can go all the way around some platforms
Flick Fishing- An accelerometer enhanced fishing game, my mate got me hooked and it's probably the only fishing game I've been able to play several times
Tap Tap Revenge 3 - Sort of similar to console rythm music games, I like this particular one because it can download the tracks from other Tap Tap games I've bought
Shrek Karting - A game that plays quite a bit like Mario Kart 64 with unlockables making it quite addictive for fans of kart racers
Sonic the Hedgehog (because sometimes my PSP's battery is dead)
Grand Theft Auto Chinatown Wars - Found this one surprisingly good. Has some elements from both the PSP and DS versions and considerably cheaper than both. I'd probably rate it somewhere between the PSP and DS versions as it's not as good as the PSP version but does things the DS can't.
Doodlejump - $1 and has fairly regular free updates. Very simple gameplay but it's one of those games for those into trying to break their high score over and over
Pandemonium! - Ever play the similarly named game on PSX? Well this is a port and plays quite well. Always did enjoy that game.
Hot Dog Down a Hallway - Surprisingly brilliant. You aim a sausage grinder/cannon and then push a pig into it when the power is maxed and then it becomes a smiling sausage that must avoid obstacles and use other things to get as far as possible. It's very cartoony in a good way and I believe it's currently free but features advertising from time to time.
5 Minutes to Kill Yourself - A game where your character gets so sick of his office job he decides to kill himself. You have five minutes to interact with as many things that will harm you as possible (often in humourous ways) and score higher the quicker you manage to fully die. Oh and there is special clothing for Casual Friday.
Zenonia - Spritey graphics, feels like some of the later RPGs for the SNES. Great if you're into that kind of thing, I know I am.
Super Monkey Ball 2 - Super Monkey Ball, only controlled by tilting the iPhone. I find it actually feels more natural and the gameplay is as addictive as ever.
Since it might take me a while to type up a little description, I'll just briefly mention some of the other games on my iPhone instead:
Square Enix also has some great games like Song Summoner Encore (enhanced version of the ipod/nano strategy RPG game) and Crystal Defenders which are very addicting.
Several classics like Earthworm Jim, Driver and more recently Rayman 2 are available which are great time wasters.
There's a ton of boardgames/card games available, somes free. Games I have on my iPhone currently include Monopoloy, Cluedo, Poker and Blackjack.

Re: iPhone gaming
I can spend hours playing Paper Toss. Does that count as being an iphone gamer?
I seriously haven't looked into any big titles for the iphone in the year I've had it, but you just reminded me that i have a legit portable gaming device. So thank you. Have you tried FF2 on the iphone?
