    Improving Your Video Game Experience

What are some of your methods or products with which you improve your video game experience?

Mods! I think a lot of us use this one. Mods can make any game 10 times better than it already is. For instance, I modded the shit out of Skyrim, some of the results were both fun and impressive.

The first time I played Final Fantasy III, the original one on NES. It has a charming music (pretty impressive for 8-bit era), though it gets somewhat tiresome after a while. So I turned it off and made a playlist with just the right theme. It made my adventure that much better. To this day whenever I listen to Enya fond memories of Final Fantasy III keep rushing back.

I'm not really big into modding, since I play on consoles and don't have the know how or patience to mod those. I used to play my Genesis with the glorious game genie though. It helped me to better appreciate absolutely bizarre games like Toejam and Earl: Panic on Funkotron since I could just enjoy the story without having to really focus on watching my ass

Does using my Astro A40's count as improving my experience.
Playing with a decent set of headphones really changes the experience for me, you get more immersed into the game, I find myself noticing noises I've never heard before. Having directional sounds just puts me more in the mood of the game.

    But of course.

Most games these days are easy to mod, for instance, thanks to Nexus community modding Bioware and Bethesda games has been reduced to mere few clicks.

Ah, that's my problem, right there. I'm strictly a console gamer.

On the other hand, I would love to have the love of my Skyrim life back. Lydia, my sarcastic wife, bought the farm fighting Forsworn in Hag's End. I'm not sure if I'm more annoyed that she's dead or that I can't remarry and get that extra gold per day. I'd love to just pop in a code to either revive her or to just be able to marry someone else to get the bonus. I'm so far into the game though (beaten it, and now doing the DLC) that it doesn't matter, but still. It's time for the Dagonborn to move on with his life.
