    I can has a DS

I figure you guys are the crew to ask about this.

I was given a Nintendo DS for my birthday. Finding fun things for it is not easy. My favourite/only things for it are a Zelda game (where you can grapple hook chickens onto your head), Chessmaster, Mahjong, and the obligatory Brain Training. I also have a talking cookbook for it, which is neat. And a cartridge with 100 books on it (still kinda blows my mind). However, I have finished the Zelda game, and the rest of them aren't really completable. Fun, but no plot.

Is there anything for a DS that you guys have/like/would like to have which does not involve virtual pets? I am having trouble.

Professor Layton and The Curious Village is a good one. Its a puzzle game, and has a plot. I've not actually played much of it to tell you how good the plot is (its my step-dads DS lol, and I only helped out on a few puzzles), but its highly addictive. =D

Don't know if you'll like it much, but Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings is on it. =S

Gahh... next time he is over, I'll see what he has! I'll be back here!

I just gotten into the Phoenix Wright Series, and I really enjoy the game so far! You play as a defense attourney, and you have to prove that your clients are innocent. There are great characters, great stories, and some problem solving. A lot of reading is involved, and you really need to use logic to piece together some of the scenarios. But I enjoy it, and I hope I gave you some idea of what you may want.

Since what you're suggesting is something with plot, and what you have as favored choices are Zelda (action-adventure) and puzzle games...well, it's pretty hard to determine.

You could find some of the DS versions of Final Fantasy if you like, perhaps FFIII and FFIV. Just to promote the forum's theme.

Also, another vote for Prof. Layton and the Phoenix Wright/Apollo Justice series. The former has a plot and also loads of brain-teasing puzzles, while the latter may not be that good since it has a rather contrived plot; however, the latter also has the requisites of good sleuthing and a good ability to get to proper conclusions. If you can handle the zany antics of the game, the Ace Attorney games are good to go.

I'd risk it and go for The Dark Spire, but the game is unforgiving to those who haven't done MUDs and old-school dungeon crawlers such as Wizardry and Might & Magic. I'd recommend it if you want to get a game with little plot and a truly unforgiving difficulty, but methinks that may not be your kind of game (it's my kind of game, tho)

    The Final Boss Theorem:
The size of the ultimate form of the final boss is inversely proportional to it's chances of actually beating your party. If you agree with this, please copy and paste this valuable piece of info on your sig. AND, if you're evil and villainous...never settle for a big form when a smaller form is more kickass...

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen and Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride for some classic plot. DQV though did have a very emotional plot to me; quite sad what the hero went through.

Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, pretty good TTS, with a bit darker story than previous Advance Wars games.

    Main series FFs Beaten - FF: 4x, FFII: 3x, FFIII: 3x, FFIV: 3x, FFV: 3x, FFVI: 4x, FFVII: 5x, FFVIII: 5x, FFIX: 3x, FFX: 4x, FFXII: 3x, FFXIII: 2x, FFXV: 2x

Thank you for the suggestions. I saw that one about Prof Layton and thought it looked a bit weird, but if not, then good times. I like the sound of this lawyer stuff though. And it has been indeed a long time since I played a Final Fantasy, and I remember just how plot-driven they are; I forgot they were happening on the DS now.

    Thanks!

If you enjoy some of Nintendo's flagship series then you can check out the New Super Mario Bros. or Metroid. Other than that I highly recommend Rhythm Heaven and Phoenix Wright.

I've been told it's a pretty fun little game.

    Golden Sun something or other
Not out yet, but when it is... get it.

    NEW Super Mario Brothers
Ridiculously fun, I've played it over and over again, but I've always loved my side scrolling mario games.

There are quite a few very good titles on the DS actually, however I'll focus on Square seeing how this is a Final Fantasy website.

Square has been releasing tons of games for the DS. Notably Final Fantasy 3 & 4 remakes, The World Ends With You, a Chrono Trigger Remake as well, Not to mention Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days is coming out soon also. Those should keep you busy for a while, and if not, you could always check out Square's website for a complete list of there DS games.

There are some great Nintendo DS games out like New Super Mario Bros., Final Fantasy III, IV, VI, Mario Cart DS, Blue Dragon DS, Bleach games, Dragon Quest IV, and soon Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days will be on the DS. So yes its worth keeping the DS in my opinion.

So I went for FFIV in the end, to pass the time. Nobody told me there was a guy in it whose weapon is a ****ing HARP. Lolwut.

Tina (or Cecil) and that musical little hippie are currently battling it out to see who can take the title of Prime Emo. Meanwhile, the inexplicably nice Rosa continues to base her life around a twat (possibly transgender) who really does not seem to give a crap about her life/general welfare/state of mind. So far, Tina's buggered off around the place doing stuff while Rosa has followed him. Uh, why? All she's got in return was a desert illness and then a kidnapping. Meanwhile he beau strains for the double title Prime Emo/Worst Voice Acting in the History of Speech with the 'Rosa...mmhhafdrjgsv....Rosa...nooooo' shit.

Rydia's a weird one. Wish I could figure out how to make her summon do stuff. So far I've just called it LOLWUT and written 'I am shit' on its face. She has total reason to **** Tina up, and yet she won't. I'd be supportive of Kain for his remarkable effort in the **** Up Tina's Life campaign, but I miss most of his parts in cutscenes because I'm laughing at his voice. I dig the way he says 'M'Lord'. Hot stuff.

So, while FFIV has not been a total hit, it has given me a good few lols. I'm at the bit now where Tina is once again on the road with children and an old guy, got him to the paladin mountain bit but **** my days, did not save, so I don't know if I have the willpower to go back and do it again (seeing as I spent most of it getting my proverbial video butt whooped and the reward was just a crappy haircut).

I think I will try the lawyer game now.
