How often do you clean your game systems?

EDIT: is this in the right spot?

I just realized how gross my systems were when I was re arranging my room; I rarely clean them. When I see the dust collecting on the top of my memory cards, then I know it's getting bad.

I clean my controllers a lot though since I have sweaty palms and they can get pretty nasty if I don't.

How often or you ever clean them?

I was thinking that since I'm artificially creating it, I'll create it with rocket fuel instead of blood, and thus it will be able to fly, using the dolphin's dorsal fins as wings. And from the air, it will look down upon us all and protect us against sharks, and search for bananas.

This thread is in such a wrong spot that you should just never be allowed to start threads again Nah, it's pretty much in exactly the right place.

I never clean anything, and that includes my gaming systems. Even though I've only been here a couple months, my PS3 and my tv have a visible layer of dust over them as we speak. It'd probably be best to wipe them down, as they will probably keep better that way... but eh. I'm lazy. Anyhoo...

Re: How often do you clean your game systems?

Depends what kind of system. If its something handheld then a lot because the screens get sooooo dirty and disgusting. Then occasionally while doing spring cleaning I will dust off the systems unless I really see the dust (in other words my mom sees it and yells at me to clean it)

I clean them regularly. I can't stand seeing my PS3 dusty, it looks all uncared for .

I wouldn't say I am that bothered about my stuff being really clean, but I do care for my consoles enough to clean them. As a matter of fact, I cleaned them up about 2 hours ago

Re: How often do you clean your game systems?

    Hehe.. Not enough.

Or so I think. For some reason, my electronics get dusty rather quickly, and that bothers me. I give my stuff a pretty good cleaning at least once a week, but sure enough, hours later, I'll see little dust particles start to stick to my consoles.

Handhelds are a bit different. I wipe those off after I get finished with a playthrough. Fingerprints kind of bother me. Also, I have a case I can set my DS and PSP in, so they don't accumulate dust like my consoles do. I also wipe down my controllers, but not as often as my handhelds.

Gawd... This post reeks of OCD... It's not that bad, I promise! :s

I clean them when I FEEL like it. It sorta bothers me when I have dust on my consoles but it doesn't bother me that much.

I keep my hands and my xbox controllers clean as much as I can, because I'm superstitious like that lol. If they feel grimey then it affects me mentally and I get frustrated a lot easier, which makes playing games not as fun.

i clean my psp every few days or so because i have this bad habit of snacking while im playing (gotta clean those smudges off). and of course the screen gets a bunch of fingerprints on it....i could not touch the screen at all and they appear. wtf man...

the ps3 dosen't get quite as much lovin. its not covered in an inch of dust or anything, but i usually dont notice it needs to be cleaned often. except i do clean the controllers after every time i use them

I have to admit that recently i've been doing a bad job of cleaning my game....stuff. I used to clean my consoles every week, but i rarely do anymore.

Re: How often do you clean your game systems?

I dust on a fairly regular basis. I can tell when the top is kind of dusty, so I whip out a swiffer rag and dust.

I don't have to worry about my controllers because I don't get sweaty hands.

Re: How often do you clean your game systems?

Not much of late (most are packed away currently), but one of my PS3s is out as an all in one multimedia unit and I tend to dust it and hit it with some compressed air once every few days. PS3s are generally reasonably durable, but I did have a mate whose PS3 appears to have gone due to dust (had half the Sahara in there when he opened it up).

i clean them 1 time every 2 weeks. i think if they get really dirty the dirt can get in side and break them. my ps2 is the really small one and is easy to clean. my controllers don't get that dirty though. my laptop is white so i feel like i need to clean it more.

Re: How often do you clean your game systems?

I only really clean my computer once a month. My N64 hasn't really been cleaned ever and it still works! The PS2 works like a charm, but this is my 2nd PS2 :\....and I now have a Gamecube in my room....I think it's the game that was messing up, not the Gamecube....but I don't clean those....only my comp lol.

    What?

    ----------------------

I dust my consoles/computer every time I clean my room, so usually once or twice a month. Oh Sega consoles, why must you be so black and friendly towards dust?

The only actual cleaning I've done is on one of my Genesis consoles that I owned as a kid and found in storage a few years back all gummed up with God knows what. Looks like a charm now, minus a few scratches.

    Until now!

Re: How often do you clean your game systems?

I clean all my newer gaming systems once a week. A simple wipe down with a dry cloth to remove all dust that may have built up.

My older ones are a different story. I clean them maybe once a month. With the exception of my N64 I clean it once a week like my newer ones. Gotta keep it in tip top shape.

Re: How often do you clean your game systems?

For me it depends on the machinery. If it's my laptop, then I clean it at least once a week. I have dandruff, and it occasionally gets on the keyboard (which pisses me off). I also clean the screen at a week rotation.
When I had a DS, I cleaned it after each use. I was paranoid about keeping it clean. XD
For the gaming consoles, I cleaned my xbox at least once a week. I would see a thin layer of dust and wipe it away. My uncle's xbox was ruined due to overheating, which he still blames on dust.
However, for the old SNES, Sega Genesis, or N64, I never bother to clean them. They still work perfectly fine. I might wipe off grime or nasty stuff from it, but I dont go shooting for dust. Haha

Re: How often do you clean your game systems?

Whenever I can see the dust is when I clean them, so usually every week or so. This applies to pretty much all electronics I own. This time of year is especially hard on them, what with the air being dry and everything being all closed up with little to no air circulation, so I may clean them even more regularly. This is especially important because of the cats, all that fur and dander gets on everything.

I do admit that I just don't like seeing dust/dirt on my consoles cause then they don't look as shiny.

Re: How often do you clean your game systems?

I don't clean my PSP because I use it to watch movies... and i don't touch my screen. After playeying/watching a movie i always put it in its "bag".
The inside of my "bag" is black, but i always put my PSP in it the same way and now you can see some white spots in the "bag" where my keys are...

My Xbox360, PS2 and PC won't get cleaned either, the only cleaning I do on this systems is using compressed air to get the dust out of my systems, otherwise they get to hot (and my room also )

by keeping the inside 'dustfree' they work longer and better!!!

But the outside? Microsoft does it for me...
I needed to send in my Xbox360 becouse it broke down and i got i back cleaned!!!
