Games you think are going to be good but turn out meh.

I get this from time to time with different games I play. I would try out a game thinking it may be very good but it doesn't turn out like I wanted to. What games attracted you to playing them but ended up not being that great of a game?

I get hyped for Seiken Densetsu 3 because of the battle system and music but the storyline isn't that great to me. I much prefer Secret of Mana's plot line because it was more of a memorable plot and it was actually interesting and kept me going back to it.

I also tried out Realm for the SNES which really wasn't that bad, but in the end its a really mediocre run and gun type of game.

Nier looked like it was going to be good but I didn't care for the storyline and the controls were just annoying. They felt really sluggish combat wise and I just couldn't get into it after the beginning of the game.

Last game I'm going to rat on is Bahamut Lagoon. It is a good title don't get me wrong, but the game gets old after a few chapters and the game flow just becomes really bland discouraging from me wanting to play anymore.

Dragon Age II. I'm not too far into it yet but I've lost the will to go on with it. I loved the first one, but a lot of people told me II was nowhere near as good and they were right. Unknown Entity told me it was better though, so I went in with high expectations but I've come out disappointed . The combat is faster, but it's a lot less fun and I just don't see where the story is going, I'm just running around doing quests in the same old place, which to me is less fun. Also, the characters aren't as interesting either.

I hope if they make a third (which apparently they are) it'll be more like the first and getting to play your character from the first would be nice, as opposed to being the Hawke character.

The Final Fantasy brand. FFXIII - If it didnt have the Final Fantasy brand attached to its name I would've liked it.. But because I hold Final Fantasy games to a much higher standard than any other game/genre because it requires a lot of powerful minds to create, design and put together a great amount of detail and from scratch..FFXIII man that shit suckd donkeys balls.x10.

FFX-2. FFX-awesome game! Was drooling for the sequel..MY GOD Just the beginning was enough for me..Man im all for girl power but I didnt order that much cheeeese. It didnt even need a sequel! They shoulda just left it. Oh wells dnt care. VII pwns. Thanks everyone!

Final Fantasy XIII, I'm sorry to say. I have tried twice; even looked at it on an HDTV, but no. The battle system isn't involved enough for me, (I know that sounds odd...) and something seems missing from it. I am determined to like it but I might skip over it entirely and go to the sequel. :/

Most recently, Soul Calibur V. I hate to say it, but I don't like it. It is still a broken mess after all these years. Cervantes is still overpowered as hell, Nightmare can beat you in one combo, even Mitsurugi can. Most of the new characters are just nerfed versions of older characters (apart from Aeon, who is also too overpowered). I just don't enjoy it at all. It needs a patch for sure.

Actually, this sentiment goes for most fighting games I have played recently. Street Fighter IV was good, but it expects you to be a SF god straight off the bat (which I am far from). The only difficulty I could beat the game on was very easy, which is pretty disheartening. The tutorials are awful too.

Mortal Kombat was a great game, but now seems really meh. You can complete (or komplete, whatever you want to say) all the game modes in hours, then there is nothing to do, except get your ass handed to you online, no matter how good you think you are.

Dragon Age II - **** move Bioware, **** move. They took a perfectly fine game and said "let's dumb this shit down so even retarded kids can play it".

Concerned Employee: But sir, what about our old fans?
Bioware CEO: **** em, as long as we slap Dragon Age title on it those sucker's gonna buy it.

I wasn't really angered with Bioware as much as I was with reviewers, I still can't believe this piece of shit got great scores.

Several Zelda games - Oh look, it's Link again, and the rest of the crew, Zelda got kidnapped again by who you might ask... that's right, Ganon. Same setting, same story (triforce, collect bunch of orbs...)... goddamit Nintendo.

Final Fantasy VII - yea, but it's not as good as Final Fantasy VII... this sentence haunted me on every forum, every video game site... after eventually trying it out...

Me: decent title, but you do realize there are lot of things awfully wrong with this game.
Random Fanboy: you don't know what you're talking about, this is tha best game evaaaaaaaa!
Me: Ok, here are few links and what I think this game fails at.
Random Fanboy: shut the **** up, shut the **** up, that's not true... now don't say a word while I suck Sephiroths ****.

decent game with huge list of flaws.

    Final Fantasy IV

I've seen my fair share of soap operas (Esmeralda FTW) to realize this game was heavily inspired by them. This game would be way better if certain characters would simply stay dead and if it wasn't for that awfully done mind control shit.

No need to add Final Fantasy V and X-2, while bad games I didn't really have much hope for them in the first place.

Skyward Sword: I think this is one game that could have benefited from being shorter, since they obviously don't want to bother putting more story in. Actually my hopes weren't very high until I started playing it, because I loved the beginning. But then it became the same old Zelda.

I realize this thread is like a week and half old, but the one true let down for me from a game I thought was going to be awesome was The Last Remnant. It looked so good, and the first hour was great. Then I started to realize why it was considered one of the most flawed games ever made by Square Enix... There was a ton of stuff that was great. And that was dwarfed by the huge amount of screwups, technical flaws, and the storyline got so awful halfway through the first disk I truly wanted to cry. And I have this problem where when I start a game. I HAVE to finish it. I died a little inside when I finished it. But yeah, that's about it =D.

I don't want to create some huge reply, so I'll try to keep them short or not a reason why at all.
Crysis 2. I never really played the original crysis. All i knew is that if you could run it on max your computer was a beast. But all in all in had really good ratings, so I decided to give it a shot. It wasn't bad, graphics of course were amazing, even on the 360. But the story wasn't really anything special, nor was the game anything special as far as shooters go. Why it was a 9.5ish rating was beyond me. The multiplayer was atrocious. "Hey, lets give everyone camo and a shotgun." "Brilliant!"

Any Call of Duty after World at War and the first Modern Warfare. Reasons should be fairly obvious.

    FFX-2 & FFXIII-2
Both games should have just been left alone, no need for a sequel they ended perfectly well. Though X didn't exactly have the happy ending everyone wanted, but sometimes thats a good thing.

Yknow, I wasn't all that big a fan of Bioshock. Everyone said it was supposed to be this phenomenal game and this, that and the other thing. I really wasn't all that impressed by it. Sure it was a pretty game, but I didn't really think it was as spectacular as it was hyped to be.

Brink- it's a relatively clunky shooter, with pretty stupid AI. The mechanics aren't horrible for the gameplay, but the stupid AI and the fact that you couldn't change your team's classes to accommodate your missions really killed. I'll give it another shot, but for the hype involved, I was kind of annoyed.

Rage- ****ing awesome concept. Borderlands meets Fallout, with some other famous shooters engine. Now THAT sounds absolutely phenomenal. I won't lie, the shooting aspect was pretty cool. Very solid for a game that was considered an RPG. Hell, even the RPG aspect of it was awesome... at first. I thought the opening was great, and how the whole dystopian world was set up... until you realize that that's it. You do a few missions and then without rhyme or reason you're thrust into shit and being hunted... just because. Then it gets worse. **** that

FFX and FFXII, and I'm sure FFXIII. Meh, meh, and I'm sure it'll be more meh, but I haven't and probably won't play it.

Duke Nukem Forever: For this game to be in the works ever since I was in the womb, it sure was pretty lackluster.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: I was told this was an incredible game by several people, but after downloading it and trying it out, I just never liked it. It has a decent cult following, and a decent idea for a game (live in the lands of mother russia, fight for survival in areas affected by Chernobyl, etc), but I just can't get into it I guess.

Marvel vs Capcom 3: One of the biggest letdowns I've ever played before, really screwed up the game in comparison to MvC2. Capcom needs to go **** themselves, they going the way of Bioware now.

Meier: Hey Pete, I said I started to, it just didn't end the with the same number of women. Then again this one is kind of on the outs with me if she doesn't straighten up and fly right so that means I will be back in it for the thrill of the kill. Got some in the reserves. Even got a rePETEr (<---- like that ay? AYYYYY?) on the back burner.

Block: I do like the rePETEr except it kinda makes it sound like you're going to pork Pete. No homo.

Yep. Forgot to add that to my list.
Graphically - Eh, not top notch, not horrible by any means. It does have some beautiful scenery here and there.
Story - Its got a pretty good story. Not a fan of the whole 60's element thing, but to each his own.
Soundtrack - Pretty dang good as well.

As a FPS, it doesn't really bring anything new to the table.
