Favourite Silent Hill

I'm relatively new to Silent Hill but I love it so far. Anyone else a fan?

Certainly. As most Silent Hill fans, I'm partial to the second one, but I also enjoyed 3 as well. SH4 wasn't bad, as far as I've played it, but I remember getting horribly lost at some point, with no idea where to go or what to do next. Not that its a rare occurrence in the series, but yeah...

I've only watched a friend play some of Homecoming, and it definitely had a different vibe to it compared to the previous ones. As a game it didn't seem too bad, but it didn't frighten me the same way the other Silent Hills did.

As for the first one, I barely remember it, which is why I'm probably going to purchase Shattered Memories.

Which Silent Hill did you start playing? Great survival/horrors, those games. As far as the fear factor itself goes, its second only to Fatal Frame in my opinion.

My favorite Silent Hill is a bit of a hard choice to make. It is a tie between 2 and 4.

I like 2 because of it's story and twist.

I liked 4 because the gameplay was way better, the story was one I liked and how everything unfolded was great.

I didn't like 3 that much, it was like playing 1 but with a new character and a few new places.

1 was amazing, scared the shit out of me. 1 is still very good.

Origins was nice to play, it wasn't bad at all.

and homecoming, I didn't get far in it due to my computer running it like crap.

All in all, 2 and 4.

By far my pecking order is 1,2, HC, 3 then 4TR .

1: to me was my favorite, I plugged this one in and fell in love instantly with it. There really isn't anything I can say that I disliked about part 1. This game hits in my top games of all times. I find it a loss they excluded some of the more freaky parts out of the game outside of the US release because I fell that people were cut short on the whole expiriance but to sound like a heartless bastard; I am glad I live in the US and got the original release. I need to track down my buddy and get this one back from him.....


2: Is along the same lines. The story was a complete mind **** and I will admit pryamid head scared the shit out of me the first time I ran into him. The only thing I didn't like about this one is how easy the final level was but the over all story made up for the lack of challenge in the last stage.

HC / 5 : Honestly I think this one is by far one of the more morbid of the titles. I found it to be visually amazing and challenging. But the story over all was kind of lacking and the appearance of some of the creatures just didn't make sence. I was not a supporter of Prymid head making a reapperance in this title, they should of left him in 2 and out of the movie. Then the pryamid head ending was a great twist.

3: Yes it is simular to 1 but I loved it none the less. It had a good crew to it and I thought it was really interesting to play and I still enjoy the replays on it. Even though it carried over a limited loop from part 1 I still think the story was hellasious.

TR / 4: I can say that this is the least favorite out of the SH series for me but I think it is very far from being a bad game. I thought that the story over all was well put together, the challenges where semi hard and some of the situations you where put into were just damn near rediculous haha. There was just something that was missing here for me that the other titles have over it.

i watched videos of the other ones and they are pretty fun and scary
im planning on buying homecoming can anyone tell me if it is a good choice

Yes Homecoming is an excelent choice. I avoided spoilers in my last post because I am not a douche like that but I will say if you liked the room you will love the others. What ever you do though, avoid three before playing one. Like it has been stated there are alot of ties to part one that will spoil part one.

But to short responce you; HC is an amazing game.

Wow, I had no idea so many other people liked Silent Hill and Final Fantasy, I thought it was an odd combination but I suppose not.

Silent Hill is by far the best survivor/horror tittle in the entire game industry and I must admit that every game in the series scared the shit out of me which frankly is hard to do.

I've only played Silent Hill 2 and 4 - The Room, Silent Hill 2 is much better, at least in my opinion although 4 is also an excellent game. Silent Hill 2 has an unbelievable great story, interesting characters and really creepy atmosphere which was hard to forget since this game scared me more than enough.

On the other hand I was a little disappointed with the story in Silent Hill 4 -The Room, it was good but nothing compared to Silent Hill 2. Also it was less creepy but more challenging tough.

I've played the first three, and I'd rank those best to worst: 2, 1, 3.

2 wins because of the great plot, atmosphere, and the depth and symbolism of the game. Also Eddie. Eddie's awesome.

The first has Harry Mason, the greatest man the world has ever known. I think this speaks for itself. And I, being the cheesy horror movie lover that I am, can appreciate some of the terrible dialog and poorly delivered lines.

3 is one of those games that I'm always on the fence about. The plot never really grabbed me, and it at some points just seemed lame, but that game has some of the best atmosphere I've ever seen in a game. The enemies are all extremely difficult to defeat, and with the limited ammunition the game gives you, you always have the feeling that you're running for your life. Combine that with some chilling atmospheric touches and some genuinely frightening moments, and it's a pretty damn good game.

Silent Hill is an excellent game series and I enjoyed it alot...I played the first three and I enjoyed them all, but my favorite had to be two it scared the shit outta me multiple times and overall it was a great game...My least favorite out of the ones I have played is four it was a good game but it could have been alot better than it actually was, it scared me quiet a bit too...

Here's a great question, which Final Fantasy hero do you guys think would last the longest in Silent Hill? Keep in mind that the town's creatures and such are modeled after its inhabitant's own deepest fears.

I think Cloud and Squall would fall to insanity first because they both have such fractured minds. i'm not really sure who would last longest though...maybe Yuna or someone more innocent. Selphie might do well, her biggest fear may very well be losing her cell phone like most other teen girls I know.

Well I would have to say that Cecil would probably have the best chances in SH. He has already fought his inner demon once before so he would half a clue what he is going up against.

His time in the military would be a great advantage due to his high amount of expiriance. The down fall to this though would be the horrors and his own self torment that he has endured would probably result in some pretty radical monster creations coming from the depths of his mind.
