What is your favorite Mario game? Mine is and always will be Super Mario Bros. 3. Just so many memories of playing that, especially as a kid, playing it with my family. It's not only my favorite for nostalgic reasons, though. It also had the best worlds/levels of any Mario game, in my opinion. I preferred having eight different worlds instead of one huge chunk of land split off into sections, as in Super Mario World. I will say I've been playing New Super Mario Bros. Wii lately, though, and it's a fun game. Maybe just a little too difficult at some points, but fun. I like how it's a combination of each of the classic Mario games rolled into one, including Yoshi's island with the big star coins and the red coins you get in each stage.
But anyway, yeah, it's Mario 3 for me. Y tu?

I enjoy Mario games a lot, and since Mario spans a multitude of genres, there's plenty to choose from. My favorite, favorite, FAVORITE though would probably be Super Mario RPG: The Legend of the Seven Stars. Such a wonderful and quirky RPG, starring the Mario cast, and a few original characters as well. I can't even tell you how many times I played that game when I was younger.

It's a toss up between Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins for Game Boy, and Super Mario World on SNES. Classic, quality games with strong nostalgic feel to them. I never owned SNES, so I had to play it at my friends house, though he was only allowed to play games at summer break, one of the reasons Super Mario World reminds me of summer. He also owned a guide book, I read that thing like million times, I still remember good part of it.
As for Super Mario Land 2, one kid with rather short temper smashed his Game Boy Pocket, he gave me that cartridge because he couldn't stand to look at it anymore. I've beaten this game countless times, I swear, I could do it with blindfold. Interesting fact, Wario made his first appearance in Super Mario Land 2, one of the few games in series where Bowser is not the main villain.

I like Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. I like the battle system, and the Bros. Attacks are very neat. Another game where Bowser wasn't the main villain. Just part of him. I hated Cackletta/Bowletta. I especially like all of the mini-games in it. My favorite is the Jump Rope/Border Crossing game.

While I love playing any of the Super Mario Bros. games, my favourite game of the Mario series would have to be Mario Tennis on my old Gameboy Colour. It's really the only sports related game that I loved to play. The funny thing is it actually had very little to do with Mario himself, rather you play as a boy/girl who has just joined a tennis acadamy and you eventually face off against Mario and Princess Peach if you complete the rest of the game. I'd still be playing it now but something went wrong with the game cartridge a long time ago so it doesn't work any more (commence sadface) .
Other than that I think Mario Cart makes a great drinking game. You play wirelessly with whoever else has a DS and if you win a race you drink and if you lose a race you drink too. Whats not to love about this?

I have always liked Donkey Kong for the Game Boy. Whilst not technically a Mario game, it still features him so I guess it counts. It builds on the original classic and adds a new twist with different moves (flips, handstands, etc.). Whilst not a difficult game it still offers a decent challenge.
Honourable Mentions: Mario Kart Double Dash (many fun hours spent playing this with my university housemates!) Mario Kart Wii, and New Super Mario Bros. DS (especially the minigames).

Super Mario World, Mario 3 is a close second. i remember being plagued by the first one when i had my NES eons ago, That final sodding boss, she was never behind that damn wall
but yeah i love super mario world. its ace, downloaded it on wii so me and the bessie can have wine and play it haha
I started playing Mario games with the first 3 Super Mario games on the NES. Later we got an N-64 and I played Mariokart (sigh) "good times" . But my all-time favorite would be Mario Party 3 or 7, playing as Princess Peach. I'm still so darn good at those mini games I feel guilty for my poor, slow-fingered opponents. No doubt they can still recall her condescending "Oh, did I win?" (include patented victory twirl.) to this day .

I'm going to have to say Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars.
I'll probably pick Super Mario World 2 - Yoshi's Island. New gameplay, awesome art design, lot's of bonuses and fun levels.
I have fond memories of most the Mario games I've played-The original was my first console game, World I played a million times and got 100% completion on, Kart was addicting, the Paper Mario games were all great, and so was Galaxy-but I agree with Dodie on SMRPG: Lot7S. Probably beat that game more times than any other, and I miss Geno, Booster, Croco, the Axem Rangers, etc. Nintendo needs to bring at least some of those guys back! Anyhoo...

Super Mario World, cause I played that game for hours trying to find all the secret exits and get a perfect game! And, of course, Super Mario Bros. 3, played that game, actually I still play that game, for hours at a time, so addictive!! Super Mario Sunshine, cause it was such a pain in the ass! I think that some of those levels should have been illegal!!
My favorite all time has to be Super Mario RPG. I had never played an RPG before, and I ended up playing that game through about six times. Geno rocks!!
Theres just so many, its difficult to keep up with each new release it can get confusing, "Super Mario..." this, "Mario..." that. My favourite ones are the classics, pretty much all the SNES ones and Super Mario 64, the one where you can play around with his face in the intro
