Famitsu's Top 20 Games that made Japanese Gamers Cry

So, I was perusing around the FF Wiki and noticed one of their news bulletins had this nifty article, so I'd thought I'd bring it up here for everyone else to see: Famitsu Reveals Games That Made The Japanese Cry | Capsule Computers - Gaming & Entertainment News, Reviews, Interviews & Competitions

Here's the full list of games if you don't want to click the article ***note - Games with the same number got the same amount of votes***

    1. Final Fantasy X (Square Enix, PS2, 7/19/2001)
    2. Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII (Square Enix, PSP, 9/13/2007)
    3. Okami (Capcom, PS2, 4/20/2006)
    4. Clannad (Gung-Ho Works, PS2, 2/23/2006)
    5. Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater (Konami, PS2, 11/17/2004)
    6. Steins;Gate (5pb., Xbox 360, 10/15/2009)
    7. AIR (Incerchannel, Dreamcast, 9/20/2001)
    8. Final Fantasy VII (Square Enix, PS, 1/31/1997)
    8. Mother 3 (Nintendo, GBA, 4/20/2006)
    10. Final Fantasy Type-0 (Square Enix, PSP), 10/27/2011)
    10. Little Busters! Converted Edition (Prototype, PS2, 12/24/2009)
    12. Final Fantasy IX (Square Enix, PS, 7/7/2000)
    12. NieR Replicant (Square Enix, PS3, 4/22/2010)
    14. 428 (Sega, Wii, 12/4/2008)
    16. Tales of the Abyss (Namco Bandai, PS2, 12/15/2005)
    16. Metal Gear Solid 4 (Konami, PS3, 6/12/2008)
    16. Final Fantasy XIII (Square Enix, PS3, 12/17/2009)
    16. Tales of Legendia (Namco Bandai, PS2, 8/25/2005)
    16. ICO (Sony, PS2, 12/6/2001)
    16. Shadow of the Colossus (Sony, PS2, 10/27/2005)

So, how many of the games on the list have you played? Did they indeed make you feel some kind of emotion? Perhaps even....CRY? No shame in that. I know I for one I felt sad at some points during nearly all the ones I've played from this list, particularly NieR, Mother 3, SotC, MGS 3, Crisis Core, FF VII, and FF X. Surprisingly, I don't think I felt sad when I played through Okami. Felt more inspired than anything really.

Four games, and all Final Fantasy (Crisis Core, VII, IX and X). I can see why one might shed tear or two, there are lot of sad scenes in all four games, but neither made me cry, Crisis Core was close at making me though.

FFVII:Crisis Core yeah I cried. Like a bitch. So what I do is watch the ending first THEN I go all the way back to the beginning and play all over again. Like it never happened. WTH. FF: Type 0 should be higher in the list. FFVII- yeah I cried...TEARS OF JOY..when Sephiroth killed some chick..her name's not important

Alpha, if you have to ask, you'll never know. (I think it's one of them damned Fabula Nova Crystallis thing. Y'know, some bullshit.)

Mother 3 definitely made me cry, and even though I didn't play Snake Eater, I know all about the emotional parts to that game, so that might make me emotional too. Don't remember if I cried playing any of the Final Fantasy titles, especially not XIII. VII and IX probably left me feeling some strong emotions, though. NieR seems like it might've gotten me-I don't remember for sure. I've barely played the beginning of ICO, so it hasn't had a chance yet. The rest, I don't think I've played. Except X. Don't remember if that got me or not either, though it seems probably not. Anyhoo...

FF7, FF8, FF9, FFX, FFX-2, FFXIII are all perfect games to make you cry (my missus cried at every one of these!) however she is yet to complete FF12, Crisis Core, Dissidia and soon FF13-2. I have a strong feeling these games will jerk tears from her too!!! I mean we both know Zack dies at the end of CC so SHE WILL cry at that part of the game I would bet my life oin it!!!

Crisis core ending definitely sparked some emotions. I think the greatest ending goes to VIII. In my opinion, it was the most epic of the series.

Re: Famitsu's Top 20 Games that made Japanese Gamers Cry

Oh goodness, don't get me started on Crisis Core. Considering it was my first Final Fantasy and I didn't know not to get too attached to the characters, when
    Spoiler:
    Zack passed

    I nearly lost it.

FFX was just straight up depressing, but I didn't cry. Granted, I was bummed for quite awhile.

Same case for Shadow of the Colossus, especially as the game progressed and you realize the Colossi are actually just docile creatures defending themselves from you. Also, I was super pissed whenever
    Spoiler:
Aggro fell whenever you cross the bridge to the final Colossus. He may have been a retarded horse, but he was MY retarded horse.

Also, even though there wasn't much depth,
    Spoiler:
    Josef's

death in FFII was really sad. Especially when you go back and talk to his daughter and wife.

CPC8- 'fo bros, 'fo life, 'fo shizzle

    SPOILER!!:
    I won something :3

Also member of something that won another thing

    Don't click this.

kaizokuluffy: If you wanna post your video, this is the wrong place. start your own thread in the Final Fantasy Media forum. Post like that again, and you'll probably get a spam warning too. Anyhoo...

The big one for me is Nier. The part during the ending sequence where

    Spoiler:
Emil sacrifices himself to save Nier & Kaine

had me bawling. The music makes the whole sequence even sadder.

I will say Crisis Core too. The ending was very sad. Not just with the setting, but the fact that you have to play the whole thing, until you can't go any more and get overwhelmed.
