Japanese titles. No bloody contest. Thats what ALL the best n my all-time favourite games have in common. They're all created by the Japanese. I grew so much respect for the people n their culture it motivated me to learn the language. The games I love to play in japanese are FFVII: Crisis Core, Dirge Of Cerberus, Dissidia & Dissidia Duodecim012, FF-Type0 and pretty much any JRPG esp the ones with voiceovers. But unfkingfortunately the industry now is more accommodating to the western market. Japan still has quality, but I think the problem is that Japanese developers are so unsure about their own creative qualities in a foreign market that they don't plan to localise their unique games. We are seeing them only localising games they think we would like (lack of JRPGs being a prime example). It could also be that developers don't have the budget to make a game succeed on a global level since hiring voice actors does cost a LOT of money, plus the translation and localisation that is needed to do it properly and naturally so that everyone can “get the jokes” and everything in between. Not for one second did I think that there was a creative void coming from the Japanese market HAHA. I know some of their more unique games get localised, but only a fraction. Most of their visual novels (much like the ones on the DS which my little sisters play) aren't localised, and they're supposed to have fantastic stories which I hold in high regard when purchasing my video games not graphics like most simpletons.
Also, if they're making a game for the Japanese market and only them, then we're going to see a lack of perceived quality by Western standards (lol) that is still considered top class by Japanese standards. I know many Western gamers don't like anime. If this is the case, they won't like games in which their art style is based on anime. Simple as that. Japanese people might see a game in HD with anime cartoony style graphics as the pinnacle of visual presentation whereas their Western counterparts won't see it. Im gonna offend some of you but in all seriousness quit your fkn complaining or learn the language lazy.....or look for those fan-translated uploads on Youtube. Japanese titles all the way hohoho.
