Dragon Quest XI Coming PS4, NX and 3DS

Square Enix announced the latest Dragon Quest game with both a preview of the game running and expected platforms. Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time will be released for the Playstation 4 and Nintendo 3DS, additionally Dragon Quest X and XI are being worked on for the newest Nintendo home console the NX.

Visually, the PS4 and 3DS versions of the game will be different with different studio helping out on them. The 3DS version of the game will have a super-deformed style and have both 3D and 2D. The bottom screen will have familiar classic Dragon Quest in 2D. Players will be able to switch between the two styles.



The Playstation 4 version will be a fully 3D world with height being a larger factor now along with elevation. They also aim to have the NPCs and world feel livelier.

I read somewhere that Square recently said that the DQ games are in consideration for the NX when it comes to the NX. But if they really do go with it, I'm for the idea because that hopefully means that the NX will be a high-end platform that more developers would actually develop for instead of skipping it. The people behind project cars is thinking about developing it, and it is also sounding like the people behind metroid are considering the NX for the next mainstream metroid game. So this is encouraging to hear that the NX may possibly be something powerful and I, again, hope it will support things like the Luminous Engine. In conclusion, this is a good sign, especially the fact that games Dragon Quest X and XI are quite possibly going to be launch titles for the NX!
