I'm not completely sure where this goes so imma guess here (move if necessary) Just wondering if anyone here Plays Yu-Gi-Oh! or Magic? For magic I run Slivers and for yugioh I run Six Samurai and Dark Magicians.

Please tell me your Sliver deck actually works. Because there's a right way to build them, and a wrong way.
Also, I more collect YGO and play the DS game. I collect MTG too but also know how to play, but I don't have any real decks to speak of except for a burn deck and a poke deck.
Of course my sliver deck works. It would be an abomination if it didn't. Plus my last tourney would not have gone so well ^_^. Speed is the key to a good Sliver deck. A Sliver deck works alot like a swarm deck. I'm just offering up a few facts so that you know I'm not full of it ^_^. For your Burn deck do you run red, white or both? Poke deck? I'm not too familiar with that type of deck.
I'm currently trying to Finish my DM and Six Samurai collections. I'm also trying to get rid of the rest of my YGO cards either by sale or trade.

My burn deck is all red. My poke deck is all blue. It's based off of the Horseshoe Crab + Hermetic Study combination, and tons of islands, and some spell cards that untap the islands.
Sweet sweet. I KNOW OF THAT COMBO!!! It's a totally badass one if you can get it to work right ^_^. Do you play any Tourneys?
So clearly you play traditional ^_^. Which God Card if you don't mind me asking and please don't say The Winged Dragon of Ra.Originally Posted by Magi of Worlds

I'm 18, play Yu-Gi-Oh, and am proud of it! I have a Warrior deck with an Egyptian God card up my sleeve!

I'm a magic man. My current decks are soldier, vampire, artifact, death's shadow/platinum angel combo, and sliver(the premium deck with a few oddmintations)
sadly i dont use my sliver deck much cause it isn't that competitive
Titles are merely a means to control those we fear
I don't play any tourneys at all. My crab deck isn't tournament legal.
I don't play standard format anyway. I play 1.5 I think. Or whatever format that uses every single card expansion.
Oh yeah.. I'm also trying to build a deck on MTG that has the theme of using the opponent's creatures against them.
That's how I roll too. I don't like the way they limit the use of old cards its so ageist (lol seriously though I think it tends to be too limiting). I believe the format is called Eternal.
Hells yea that is awesome. Let me know how that deck works out for you. ^_^

My Egyptian God card happens to be a signed copy of Obelisk The Tormentor. It was signed by the creator himself! Its also the one that he originally signed then made copies of!

i used to play yu gi oh, but i stopped when the ban list started getting rediculous, i drew the line when they banned the dark magician of chaos, as it took me months to get and i only got the chance to use it twice.

That ban list is only for tournaments, you know.. you don't exactly have to follow it all the time. >.>;
I myself don't follow it.
That's kooky! I was literally just talking to other duelists about that. My take on it is that the ban list was made cause a bunch of whiners couldn't figure out how to stop certain combos. So Konami being sick of hearing how "this is broken here" and "That is soooo broken there" started banning cards that saw "too much abuse" w/e the f*ck that means. Personally I only follow the ban list when I'm competing, if not then I happily run the field with my DMoC.Originally Posted by Rydia Lover

that is true except if you want to be good at competitions and tournament you need to have routine practice with a legal deck so i would often play exibitions with it.
however i did play with random fun decks as well. even random rules too like KINGDOM rules where monsters dont require a sacrfice but you cant attack directly.
and yes i hated the bans as well, mirror force was one of my favorate cards.
but i innevitably gave all my cards to my little nephew, all except my two favrates which i will keep in my collection of random junk: dark magician girl, and dark magician of chaos envoy of the end.

I used to love playing Yu-Gi-Oh. I was the third best player in my town at one point (which is something I'm quite proud of), but I haven't played in years. I lost track of the new kinds of cards, so I just gave up really. My deck can still take people down though
As for Magic, I tried it, but really couldn't get into it at all. I just thought I'd stick with Yu-Gi-Oh, rather than having to buytwo sets of cards. Magic was always more expensive.
I have, but couldn't ever bring it out to cause any damage, one of those legal god cards that came out in one of the sets. I had the one that was kind of like Obelisk, but you had to tribute 3 fiend monsters to spec summon it, but obviously, it was a normal spec summon, and could get destroyer quite easily. Needless to say, I took it straight out of my deck, but it's still my favourite card. It went very well in my fiend deck.
Speaking of which, did anyone used to make up decks dedicated to one type? I used to run a fiend deck, and I knew someone who ran a machine deck and was pretty much unstoppable in competitions. I nearly beat him once, but he pulled off some wicked combo and flat out annihilated me.

I was looking into this just last night. I have fond memories of playing in the Pokemon card tourney's in town. I wanted to see if I could get into one of the more 'grown up' card collections. I'm upset about what I read online, though. The first thing that came to mind was having a dragon themed deck (Yu-Gi-Oh_ as I've seen so many dragon cards amongst my friends. Then a tourney guide online said normal monsters are pointless and top stick to effect ones. The only cool Monster/Effect card I could find though was Blue eyes shining dragon. This (it seems) would take a LOT of effort to summon.
I'm still interested in playing. Would anybody like to guide me in building a good deck that I'd actually enjoy looking at, too?
As for MTG, I did look at those but they didn't interest me as much.
EDIT: By help I mean tell me what the best booster packs to buy would be and stuff.
Also, tips on good cards to strive for would be nice.

Currently I'm working on a Red-Eyes B. Dragon deck (unfinished), Dragon decks are good but you'll wanna run Cards like Kiriyu, Pitch Dark Dragon, Dark Blade, Dark Blade the Dragon Knight, Lord of D., Flute of Summoning Dragon, Stamping Destruction, Lord Dragun, shit like that also try to stay away from Continuous Magic/Trap cards. Use alot of Spell and Trap destruction. Don't worry about destroying your own magic/traps cause a good dragons deck doesn't need to rely on them as much as other deck types do. Also watch out for Buster Blader and Dark Paladin.Originally Posted by Hyzenthlay

Dark Paladin does the Same thing except it works for both sides of the field. Actually it isn't a bad idea to throw a Dark Magician and A Buster Blader in your Dragon Deck along with a few of their Support cards like Skilled Dark Magician and Skilled White Magician with a Polymerization and Dark Paladin himself. Hmmm.....you may have just helped me finish my deck....^_^. Your best bet is gonna be buying or trading for singles but the Dragon Structure decks/Kaiba Starter Decks would be a good start. Starter Deck Kaiba, Starter Deck Kaiba Evolution, Dragon's Roar, and Rise of the Dragon Lords are the best sets that involve dragon cards. Anywho I hope I helped if you need any more help just leave me a VM on my profile page and I would be happy to help.
EDIT: Sorry had to add this last minute, Some really cool Dragon cards what are known as the "Five Signer Dragons" are good to have too they are: Stardust Dragon, Red Dragon Archfiend, Black-Wing Dragon, Black Rose Dragon, and Ancient Fairy Dragon. They are all Synchro type Dragons but are totally worth having. Plus they look cool too ^_^
Yea Type deck are a lot of fun. My tournament deck is a Warrior Type deck and is about as mean as they come aside from the popular Gemini deck, but those decks are rough.Originally Posted by ZantetsukeN

Used to be big on Yugioh, still love Magic.
I've built more decks than I care to remember... my favorite game style is 2v2, just because they last alot longer as a rule. I hate most of the new sets, since half of em are just about cramming as many 1 or 2 cost creatures into a deck as you can and overwhelming. Basically, a pissing contest. Bores the shit out of me. I much prefer long, drawn out games where I'm free to chain together some devestating combos. Best deck I have for this would probably be my green white token deck. Life gaining, and dropping hoardes of 1/1s is always fun. I've had over a billion life with that deck, without using any infinites, i've dealt billions of damage without any infinites, just pure unadultered combo-rape. Things loaded with beacons of immortality, constant life gainers, shit that gains me life when creatures come into play (which is all the time considering it shits steady streams of soldier and saproling tokens), couple storm heards to unleash the gay when i've got a million life or so, and of course, the lovely Upwelling enchantment. Mana pools don't empty at the end of the turn. Always nice when I can also turn my tokens into forrests, then drop a X cost to put X tokens into play after stockpiling obscene ammounts of mana. Or just destroying the enchantment myself once my opponent has started making use of it and letting em manaburn themselves to death, that's always fun. Friend running a burn deck tried to use my upwelling to store red waiting for a blaze. Once he had more mana than he did life, I destroyed my own Upwelling at the end of his turn and let him take the 20 something manaburn damage. My favorite means of life gaining though would have to be giving Ajhani Goldmane's tokens lifelink. It can put a token into play with an ability that reads, "This creature's power and toughness is equal to your life total", lifelink of course means whenevr it deals damage, I gain that much life. essentially means I double my life every time it attacks. Even more fun to give it doublestrike, quadrupled life every time it attacks... all around a very entertaining deck to play as long as it's not trying to run against a speed deck.
Then there's my red/blue. Whole deck's just loaded with infinites. My favorite, and the first I used with it, drop a Djinn Illuminatus, all your instant/sorcery spells have replicate (you can copy it any number of times by repaying its mana cost), Pact of titan (0 cost, put a 4/4 titan token into play), replicate it infinitely at 0 cost, drop a surge of zeal, gives em all haste, attack for infinity. That's just one of the infinites in that deck though, there are at least 8. Usually a slow starter, but nothing is more rewarding than saying, "You take infinity. Good game."
But, my most efficient deck is my red/black burn from hell. Though not as satisfying as attacking someone for a billion, it gets the job done, and damned fast. If I have a 6th turn, I've done something wrong.

Like Victoria I mainly collect YGO cards I haven't the time or the money anymore to upgrade or enter tournaments plus my wife thinks it's pretty lame that a 22 year old plays cardsso I just collect them I don't really have a specific deck just put the best ones in and make it very balanced.
I play it on DS and Advance but those games get a bit boring there is no real goal to the game anywho.

like Miss Vicky i also play the the DS Yu-Gi-Oh
my friend got me into the DS game by showing Yu-Gi-Oh WC 2008
it was really cool
i always use Earth Type monsters and M/S cards that assisted Earth Type monsters
i especially liked the Amazoness cards

I used to play Yu-Gi-Oh myself, but stopped when it started getting stupid, which was sometime just after Magic Ruler or Nightmare Labyrinth, if I remember correctly. The cards were getting ridiculous and I look at some of them now with their multiple paragraph descriptions and just shake my head at how much money I spent on them (bought Goblin Attack Force for $20, yo).
I've been in a few local tournaments (and one provincial) back in the day, but never won anything significant. A buddy of mine won a local tourney somehow (his deck wasn't great, but he was a lucky bastard). It's just too convoluted now.

I agree with ya there Jin, that' why I got out of Yugioh. Some of the shit out now is so overpowered it's not even fun anymore. Meanwhile all the shit I like running is banned by now.

This is so true, everything goes super op, and when i played it was the first series ones. . .so when GX came along and change everything (including banning the old series) I just thought "F♫ck it, why play the new series?"

I love the logic behind some of these bans too. You're allowed to have like, 3 of an indestructible monster with 3000 atk that can attack directly... but my Raigeki was overpowered so IT got banned? What?
I used to run an Exodia deck from hell, as far as I know that entire set is banned now.

Luckily for me, there's a large group of people who play Magic in the mornings at my college. Moderately humurous how the popularity of card games changes throughout school years. In elementary, you weren't cool if you didn't play pokemon, in middle-high school you were a social outcast if you did, and suddenly in college it's cool again!

christ, me and my brother would play Yugioh a long time ago. We'd always get into little fights because he'd use the abilities in the anime. An Otaku born I guess.
