Still play Red Dead Redemption IMO
Hey!
So i recently bought red dead redemption again, i originally bought it on release and brought it to a friends to play. I never got to play it properly and it subsequently got traded to a friend of a friend to a stranger and then lost. (hate when this happens)
However:
I forgot i got a lend of another copy off another friend a few months back, so didnt need to buy it, so i returned it and picked up Ni no kuni as there was nothing else i could fine, i bought it on the sheer fact its a studio ghibli production.
I havent done any homework on ni no kuni really, so Im not sure on what to play, i tried searching for previous threads relating to this game but just landed on peoples blogs mentioning they were playing the game.
So can anybody who has played both, recommend which one to start on first? As in which is the better game?
Still play Red Dead Redemption IMO

Both are amazing. Red Dead Redemption, is still one of my favourite games, and in fact, I almost bought the GOTY today at work for my boyfriend, so he can play with me when he's at his place. I STILL have never finished Undead Nightmare - the online sucked most of my time.
Ni No Kuni is the sweetest RPG you'll ever play, just about beating Bravely Default in my opinion. Collecting familiars is fun, kind of like Pokemon. I've easily put in over eighty hours trying to get everything done, like beating the story, beating the final, final boss, and getting my mitts on some of the better weapons in the game.
Both games are a bit of a grind - RDR has a max level of 50 online, and it took many a night taking over towns with friends to go into Legendary. I think you can do it five times, and you get a silly badge for trying - like prestige in CoD. Beating that final boss in Ni No Kuni was a bit of a headache, so I had to train up a better tank, which considering I had the same familiars I had when I started, took a bit of effort. Both have fantastic stories too...
I'd get Red Dead Redemption out of my system first. You can march through that story in less than twenty hours, and bang out some online. Save Ni No Kuni when you're up for a longer experience, and are happy to spend more time nurturing an RPG.
Thank you UK, exactly the scope i was looking for, mucho appreciated
And ugh, thanks also Mr Loaf
I havn't played red dead redemption (kinda interested now) but Ni No Kuni is a great JRPG and certainly memorable. I'm sure you'd get great enjoyment from Ni No Kuni.
Red Dead Redemption is in my top 5. I find it better than GTA because it's just so damn good.
The story, the characters, the atmosphere, the music.

RDR is great, though I enjoyed it mostly for its story. The gameplay was solid but felt a bit "trapped" by the usual Rockstar staples. Think it could have been less repetitive without the same overall structure and more immersive without the out of place HUD and menu, or different ones.
