    Borderlands

Couldn't find any other topics about it... hopefully I'm not doing a double!

Has anyone played this? My guy has been freaking OBSESSED with this game since he got it, and after not doing too horribly in Halo 3 I decided to give it a whirl. I actually really like it! I suck at FPS normally, but I've figured out that I'm much better with a sniper rifle or melee combat than the shotguns.

I'm playing as the Siren, Lilith. Naturally.

My guy has beaten the game plus the DLC as Mordecai, which I think is an assassin? I'm still not too good with the ins and outs of the game.

If you are playing, where are you at? Don't worry about spoiling me as I already have an idea of the game from my OH playing it so much. Would love to see your stats!

I've only played bits and pieces of this game casually at a friend's. I like it in small doses, but if I play it for too long I get the "Diablo effect" where I feel like I'm just looting for the sake of looting and start to get bored.

I played as the soldier. Turrets were my friend.

    Until now!

That's part of the reason why P likes it so much. I guess the chests are random so he'd always be jumping back in to see if they would give something better. He did that as well with Too Human. I HATED that game after awhile, with only like 4 levels or so... I think? Anyways yeah, something like 4 levels and he'd play them incessantly.

    Argh.

The Phasewalking has saved my ass a few times because I was able to get out of somewhere really quick (your speed is upped while Phasewalking) and do damage when I came out of it. I'm not good at FPS's at all, and I have a habit of getting myself surrounded by too many enemies.

    Woot! I suck!

I have yet to play it, but it looks like a very good game that I could easily get into to. A few of my buddies have played it and all of them said that it was a very good game, and they said that they all enjoyed it very much.

I beat the game on normal mode, and started to play a second game but quit. I played as Lilith. <3 Phasewalking.

I dunno. I cracked out on it for a few days and I didn't see myself ever stopping. I was so addicted to getting that next gun, and seeing the next zone. Then after I beat it and got about 5 levels more on my second playthrough I quit and haven't even loaded it back up.

It was definitely fun, I just wish there was more too it. Some kind of gun customization thing would be cool where you can take the guns apart and piece together your own.

Che, did you do the DLC? Jakob's Cove or something like that with the Zombies? P freaking LOVED it, and said it was designed to be tougher than the regular playthrough stuff.

I accidentally jumped there not realizing what I was doing (I'm still not far enough in the game to activate the teleporting or whatever its called) and went to go see the Claptrap (side note: I freaking LOVE the Claptraps!) and I fell off the side and died. N00b!

Nope, never bought it. A friend bought me this game on PC after my PS3 died because he felt sorry for me. I'm not sure if the content is even available for PC?

And yes, the claptraps are hilarious! I love when they dance. "Oooh look at me, check me out!"

I have never heard of this game. Could you tell me about it?

    And what category has it?

What's the main point in the game?

    How about the characters?

    I'd like to know.

I'm dancin', I'm dancin'!!! LOVE the Michael Jackson crotch grab too!

Um SD, you might be able to get more info if you google Borderlands. There's a Wiki that has all that info and can better explain it than me! I'm still trying to figure it all out.

Played the game and loved it. I got through the first playthrough as a soldier, and it was literally the only game I played. Then I started the second playthrough and... I don't know why, I just sort of lost interest. I'll probably get around to it again eventually.

Then again, I say that about everything that's been gathering dust on my shelves for years.

    Here you go.

It's sad how many times I have to do that. How has someone not heard of this game?

    Until now!

What's even more sad is the fact that someone is too lazy to google the game or look it up on IGN, or one of the millions of other, quicker, and easier ways to figure out what a game is all about.

I've played Borderlands, and I thought all the chest and drops would be completely random... I was wrong. There's the same thing in the same chest every time!

Although, i'm not finished yet.. (just killed Krom) and things might be different later on.

It is a very fun game though, and the assassin is fun to play as. Haven't tried the others. Except Berserker. crazy fist - man!

How did you come to this conclusion? My friend (PC version) said he kept logging in and out at chest locations to reopen them and find different loot. He farmed the orange items this way.

The chests ARE random. Although some chest might always have repeater pistols in them, or a skag pile that always has Mods in them. But what you get is always, always random. My OH farmed Orange items that way too.

    Current Gaming Status:

Just hit Level 29. Been Co-oping with my guy so I've been trying to do other stuff during the day. We're just about to head into Krom's Canyon (story-line wise). I'm now doing Jacob's Cove. It isn't THAT hard, but that might be because I'm playing as Lilith who has SMG plusses, plus the purple Double Anarchy SMG, plus the Mod that I have that amongst other things has +11 SMG Ammo Regeneration. I'm partway through the "Braaaaaaaaains!" quest, and am continuing the Storyline for Jacob's Cove.

I would highly recommend this DLC! There's a shitton of stuff to do, and is well worth the points to buy it. My only complaint is that there isn't any Fast Travel there... but I'm levelling up like mad because I'm constantly fighting my way through the areas.

They don't seem random to me

Then again, I could be wrong, or just have terrible luck

What are you playing as? I know with the Hunter there's a Mod that you can equip to have a better chance at finding rare items.

Yeah, i'm the hunter... Assassin person. I'm better at sniping than i am with rockets :3
I'm now constantly hesitant to remove my "survivor" class mod because it has a +12 health regeneration rate.
    I <3 my mods

I've only played it at a friend's house and so far I liked it. I really enjoyed Diablo 2 and with this being FPS and mainly only 4 player, makes it more fun with friends. I know plenty of people on PC who play it.

I want people to co-op with me.

Gaming update: Level 50, bitches! Finished the DLC Jacob's Cove, and have finished the "Prove Yourself" challenge in Mad Moxxie's Underdome Riot. Holy crap its tough. I ended up putting all my skill points into defence and phasewalking. So my cooldown time between phasewalks is less, I take less damage when I come out of Phasewalking (if enemies are attacking me) and it heals me to phasewalk too.

Love it! <3 Having way too much fun with this game!

Gotta say, the intro for the Zombie Island DLC was hysterical. That right there almost makes it worth the cost of entry.

    Until now!

    I know!

    "That's a swear!!!"

"Dude made zombies, okay? You aren't the police of me!!!"
The Jacob's Cove Claptrap has probably the best lines in the game too.

"Okay I'm sane now... no more possession! No more evil, no sir-ee! I'm practically Robo-Teresa over here."

And the Jacobs Corporation announcements are pretty funny too... where it talks about your help and patience during the (voiced in) "Zombie Apocalypse".

But then again I'm pretty partial to the ClapTraps in general.

Well, unfortunately my Borderlands broke. Damn you kittens and your desire to press every button, and then bite the disc so it doesn't even register as a game anymore >
