First console you owned?
My first one was a green Gameboy Color. My first console console was a PS1, although it was more loaned to us.
A game that holds a special place in your heart?
Pokemon Crystal. It wasn't my first game but it's the one I've played for the longest, and it was the main one I played when we first moved to NZ in 2003 so it got me through a lot of changes.
Favorite video game character?
Naked Snake from Metal Gear Solid.
Least favorite video game character?
That's hard.. I can't think of a character that's been really unlikable.
Favorite game genre?
RPG's, Platformers and Beat 'em Up/Fighting
Video game character you’ve had a crush on?
I've never had a crush on a videogame character but I've always thought Nina Williams looks pretty good. She's not all boobs and butt like her sister Anna. Snake's pretty handsome too.
First video game you remember playing?
Pokemon Blue, which came with my GBC.
Age you started gaming?
Umm.. I can't remember the exact age but it must have been somewhere between 4 and 7.
Hardest video game you’ve played?
Probably Dark Souls. The fact that you can't pause the game outside of save points makes combat really hard when you have to quickly do something else irl. I felt a real sense of urgency and dread when I was playing it too, it's not something I usually feel when playing games. If I'm finding another game hard it's usually because I'm playing it on my phone and my hands are too big to hold and play it like a gameboy.
Video game you’ve spent the most time on?
I've just passed 150 hours on Dissidia Duodecim, that game really is a lot of fun to play. My first file on Oblivion is around 120 hours, and I've had files on FFX and XII that are around that time too but they were lost when my memory card corrupted.
Most embarrassing gaming moment?
I played Secret of Mana for the first time recently, and I got stuck on the bit where you get the Rusty Sword (ie the very begging of the game). I couldn't figure out how to get to it and had to look it up on Youtube. Turns out all I had to do was walk one step upwards and I would have seen the steps leading to it. I still feel really stupid about that -.-
Scariest video game you’ve played?
I don't really play that many scary games, I can't even thing of anything non-horror that I would consider to be scary.
Most memorable gaming moment?
Too many, man, too many.
Video game character you wish you could meet in real life?
Naked or Solid Snake (again). Also i'd like to meet Squall to ask him about where to get his jacket.
PC, Xbox, Playstation, or Nintendo?
Playstation and Nintendo only because they're all I've really played.
Gaming company you’re most loyal to?
If I see or hear SE or Konami have involvement i'm game it'l definitely warrant a second look. I don't tend to focus on the company too much other then that.
If you could only play one video game for the rest of your life, which would you choose?
That's hard... it would have to be something with lots of content or variability. Or maybe FFVII or XII.
Do you use strategy guides?
Only once I've beaten the game. I love to read through my walkthrough of Final Fantasy XII, even though it doesn't usually tell me things I don't already know.
How often do you use cheats?
Not that often, it tends to ruin the fun and challenge if you're invulnerable or have unlimited ammo. The money cheats are very useful when building houses on Sims though, so I don't have any problem with using that.
Competitive or single player?
Depends on the game. There are times where I'd love to give online play a try when the AI becomes predicable, but I'd pick local multiplayer over online when I can. I was pretty good at competitive Pokemon when I played it for a while.
Video game character you want to/have cosplayed?
If I grew my hair out I could probably do a decent Otacon. I push my glasses up like he does without thinking sometimes so i'd do that part pretty well
Ever go to a video game convention?
Not one that's specific to videogames but we have a convention that encompasses lots of things, including videogames, called the Armageddon Expo that i'm going to in a couple weeks.
Hardest boss fight you’ve been in?
Azazel and Unknown from Tekken 6 and Tag Tournament 2 respectively springs to mind. Incredibly cheap attacks that leave you with little room for error along with being able to block or parry your attacks nearly 100% of the time makes them a real pain to fight. I have gotten much better at fighting them over time, but holy crap they're tough sons o' bitches.
Video game you wish you could burn from your memory?
Call of Duty World at War: Final Fronts. A $70 game that I beat in next to no time even on the hardest difficulty and with pretty poor overall quality to boot. So far my first and only foray into the FPS genre, and although I have no bad feelings towards the genre as a whole, I feel like that game has sated my curiosity for it.
Favorite gaming series?
Final Fantasy, Tekken, Metal Gear Solid, Pokemon and The Elder Scrolls.
Do you skip tutorials, or find them useful?
If I'm playing the game for the first time or if I need a recap I'll watch, otherwise I'll skip it if it lets me.
Best online gaming experience?
Curb-stomping some poor sap's team on Pokemon Showdown.
Worst online gaming experience?
Being the poor sap who was curb-stomped on Pokemon Showdown.
Favorite game(s)?
Final Fantasy XII, Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, MGS Peacewalker, Tekken 5 and TES Oblivion. Oh and DKC 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Mega Man 2 on the nes. I can't make up my mind.
Favorite game from each system?
That I've owned?
GBC: Pokemon Crystal
GBA: DKC2, FFV.
NDS: Pokemon Heart Gold, Mariokart, and FFIII.
3DS: Pokemon Y.
Wii: Mariokart
PS1: FFVII, FFVIII (still need to find a copy of MGS1 grr)
PS2: Final Fantasy XII, Tekken 5, MGS 3, KH2
PS3: Oblivion, MGS 4, Tekken Tag 2
I'm going to have to split this into several parts methinks (so many questions ). These threads are a lot of fun though so props to you.
