Any other memorable PS1 games aside from FF6,7,8,9? :)

    Hello guys,

Growing up during the 90s could bring back a lot of memorable PS1 games especially Final Fantasy. That's why I joined the forum anyway.

But may I just ask you guys what other PS1 games did you fancy? Mine were crash bandicoot, mega man, bloody roar, etc.

I would have to go with Mega Man 8, Spyro, Driver, Tekken 3, Gran Turismo (even though I was horrible at it), Twisted Metal, Rouge Trip, and Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, oh and Metal Gear Solid. I didn't own a PS1 so I played these at other people's houses and I remember having lots of fun with the games.

Forgot how it was abbreviated, but the racing game from the Crash Bandicoot series would always end up popped in our borrowed PS1. Those were fun times

Other than that I've played Mortal Kombat, Driver, a 007 game (I think it was The World is Not Enough, and it was good btw) and there was this racing game I used to play. It was on snow, and the song that frequently played sounded very similar to Rob Zombie's "Dragula" xD
Please read the poetry from two great friends of mine. May they find peace.

    Bust A Groove

Frickin loved it, still got it, still play it.
(sadly the sequel never generated the same hype..)

Aside from that in my pile some standouts/memorables would be .... Silent Hill 1, MGS, Syphon Filter, Tekken 3.

Man I still got all these old CD's tucked away in folders, thinking I should whip these babies out more often.

My brother bought a new laser lens from ebay the other day so we can hopefully fix our old PSOne, it's by far my favorite console with both quantity and quality to back it up, one of which N64 lacked. As for my favorite games...

    Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere
    Colin Mcrae Rally 2.0
    Dino Crisis 2
    Discworld II: Missing Presumed...!?
    Final Fantasy VIII & IX
    Gran Turismo 2
    International Superstar Soccer 2
    Medal of Honor: Underground
    Metal Gear Solid
    Panzer Front
    Parasite Eve 2
    Rayman 2: The Great Escape
    Resident Evil 1, 2 & 3
    Silent Hill
    Spider-Man & Spider-Man: Enter Electro
    Tekken 3

... and many, many more including some of my guilty pleasures like Digimon World 2 and Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout, truly a legendary console.

GT: Final Bout was a great little fighting game.

Fighting Force was a stand-out title for me. Because it falls neatly into the category of being so god-awful it became amazing to play. The premise was a 3D Streets of Rage clone and it failed miserably.
Quite a few games that have already been mentioned, Chrono Cross and Trigger although I prefer the SNES version for Trigger but also Front Mission 3, a sorely underrated and overlooked mecha-RPG by SquareSoft. Can't forget the amazing platformer Pandaemonium and the RPG that spawned the Shadow Hearts series, Koudelka. A very rare game and I'm fortunate enough to have a copy.

Xenogears is the answer you are looking for. You may not realize it, but in time you will. Also try Vagrant Story, Suikoden II - which can be quite expensive - & the two Breath of Fire games for the PS1.

I really like Spyro the Dragon, as well as the other Spyro games on PlayStation. The same can be said about Crash Bandicoot PlayStation games. Though I've never finished either one, I like what I have played of Tomb Raider and Tomb Raider II.

I was up to the 2030 (or later) season of WWF Smackdown!. I had everything unlocked, the extra characters, outfits, everything. Metal Gear Solid is still a game I play now. That, and Rugrats: The Search for Reptar.

Nothing else really strikes me as memorable. All I have to do is look behind me to see my PlayStation games, and most of what I have is Final Fantasy games. The rest I have either mentioned above, or are a bunch of car games (Gran Turismo, Driver, Twisted Metal, F-1 World Grand Prix, Nascar).

Oh metal gear solid!!! I remember that I used to make fun of him hiding in that box. Intense and fun game to play, I wasn't that stealthy so I didn't have much success with that game. hahaha.

Same here, I would also play at other people's house until I got my own cause I got too addicted )

I think playing Bust A Groove as a kid led me to develop skills for a proper tempo. Kinda helpful right now being a musician. And yess Syphon Filter- felt like I was James Bond while playing the game

Digimon world 2 has also been my guilty pleasure. The training ground becomes very nostalgic to me and if you just poop around everywhere, your digimon becomes a sukamon. haha!

Mickeys Wild Adventure, Hercules action game, Guardians Crusade (such an overlooked RPG), monkey hero, silent bomber, R Type Delta, Tai Fu (wrath of tiger) Gex: deep cover gecko, LEGEND OF DRAGOON, Vagrant story, jackie chan; stuntmaster, micro maniacs, Kula world, Anna kournakovas smash court tennis, TEKKEN 3, Worms Armageddon, Rage Racer, Azure dreams (Cmon, this has to be one of the best dungeon crawls on ps1), Wild arms (looking for a new copy atm).

If I can think of anymore ill edit them in the post.

edit: WOAH, How could i forget Digimon World 2! Now that was one hell of a game. I loved upgrading the buggy thing and going over all the different domains. Training the digimon was one hell of a chore since levels capped out 2 at a time after dna digivolve, but hell it made it so much more worth it in the end when you finally get the mega evolutions.

I dunno why but I didn't play legend of mana.. Resident evil was very fun for me though- very classic when it comes to the zombie scene. And yeah, Chrono cross was also my favorite game!

Only game I can think to add is SaGa Frontier. Some people hate it, but I personally loved it. I didn't really like SaGa Frontier 2 though.

My memorable PS1 games other then FFVII would have to be Digimon World 3, Tekken 3, Wild Arms 2, and Digimon Battle Arena. These are all good games, and if you didn't play them, I recommend that you do, if you can.

Digimon World 3 (2003 for my fellow Europeans) is one of the worst games I ever played, and this comes from a huge Digimon fan and someone who very much enjoyed the first two. It's one huge grind fest, hard to believe but even more severe than in Digimon World 2. Digi evolutions make no sense whatsoever, again far worse than in Digimon World 2. The backtracking in this game is ridiculous to say the least, for every step forward you have to take two backwards. You're always looking for something or someone, though it's never clear who and where exactly so you end up searching the entire word, often tedious and long process, and it's always in the last place you expect. I'm glad at least one of us enjoyed this game.

Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, and Valkyrie Profile were my favorite PS1 games. The Megaman and Megaman X games are always awesome, though not ALL of them were PS1, many were, and I loved them all.
For Our Lord Sheogorath, without Whom all Thought would be linear and all Feeling would be fleeting. Blessed are the Madmen, for they hold the keys to secret knowledge. Blessed are the Phobic, always wary of that which would do them harm. Blessed are the Obsessed, for their courses are clear. Blessed are the Addicts, may they quench the thirst that never ebbs. Blessed are the Murderous, for they have found beauty in the grotesque. Blessed are the Firelovers, for their hearts are always warm. Blessed are the Artists, for in their hands the impossible is made real. Blessed are the Musicians, for in their ears they hear the music of the soul. Blessed are the Sleepless, as they bask in wakeful dreaming. Blessed are the Paranoid, ever-watchful for our enemies. Blessed are the Visionaries, for their eyes see what might be. Blessed are the Painlovers, for in their suffering, we grow stronger. Blessed is the Madgod, who tricks us when we are foolish, punishes us when we are wrong, tortures us when we are unmindful, and loves us in our imperfection.

Chrono Cross is one of those Perfect games, everything about it is amazing. You can get so lost in the game doing random stuff. I swear you get to see Chrono talk as well.

Legend of Dragoon is amazing too and I've only gotten to the end of disc1.
