Another Hipster Game Thread from Rhapso

Last time it was Touhou, but this game is way more underground. Same scenario for me being interested, however. I've seen very little of it, and heard even less, the only descriptions of it being "Genuinely disturbing," and "Dude it was creepy as **** I never played it past the third dream," so naturally, my interest is piqued.

The game is called Yume Nikki and it's about a girl who won't leave her house. The point of the game is to go sleep and explore the strange, bizarre worlds inside of her dreams (Read from Wikipedia.) Now, before I dive right into this steaming pot of nightmare fuel, I want to know if any of you have heard of this or played it/could give me a decent review on it?

Spoiler video sort of, but it's an example of the shit I'm about to be playing, unless someone convinces me it's not a game worth playing.

Played some of it, it's pretty tight, and cool, and stuff. I don't think there's an end to it though, as the game isn't complete? It's something fun to play with the lights off... haha.

So far, I've found four effects: Neon lights, the hat and scarf, Umbrella, and blonde hair. I also got a couple of scares... Also, stupid big nose girls makin' me start over... ><

Pretty neat. I like what I've seen. Lots of interesting designs for things in the background. I'm not sure if it's for everyone, but it has a charm to it. If you dig exploration and trippy effects, give it a shot.

Played some of it, it's pretty tight, and cool, and stuff. I don't think there's an end to it though, as the game isn't complete? It's something fun to play with the lights off... haha.

Follow up, I've downloaded it, and I can assure you there's an ending, Soldier. Just... It makes me almost wish the game was incomplete.

@Dodie You should try finding either the Knife, Bike, or Stoplight powers to help with the bird girls. I hate them too, though, like if you're really far into an area and one of them shows up from nowhere and warps you to frickin' black and white world.

Woah! Didn't think I'd find another person who has played this game, lol. This game was pretty freaky and I jumped a few times, but I don't think the game is trying to creep you out or anything. The setting is in a dream after all and dreams do get crazy! I can say for sure that the ending was pretty depressing.

There's a story behind it, but it's all up to interpretation depending on what you think about the different characters she meets.

This is the second game I can think of that made me feel like an asshole for completing it. That red maze can go die in a fire though. That thing was horrible. ><

Ive completed teh game and actually got the "good" ending too! It's definitely worth a try. The sprites and trippy graphics reminded me of Earthbound. Good stuff! ^^

Wow, this game looked pretty unique! I like games that have creativity to them and draw you into an unfamiliar world and fill you with intrigue and curiosity. I may give it a try one day.
