The horror revisited

Doma Castle – It is the end of day two in the restless empire of Doma, the search for truth is vastly underway. The day’s search for answers has yet to yield any real evidence as to what happened to the people that once called this beautiful place home.

As the day began the castle and surrounding fields where broken up into grids, as researchers in the castle explored the outer parameters moving inwards the researchers outside the city moved outwards away towards the abandoned Empire base.

Both the castle researchers and the field team researchers have been unable to find any clues, to what has happened. More bodies have been found lining the inner tunnel ways of the castles outer perimeter walls. These bodies are still in tact and show no evidences as to why the people here died the way they did. Several researchers feel that the way the bodies have been tossed aside and how they where not given proper right of passage is disrespectful and adds insult to injury. Many have volunteered to excavate the bodies from their make shift tombs and give them the proper burial they deserve.

On a surprising note, one of Emperor Ghastal’s former top researchers has shown up to aid in the research and to bring closure to the events that occurred here. Dr. Cid was escorted to the researcher’s base camp where he assumed control of the investigation.

Progress was slow as many where unable to sleep during the night; possibly the result of anticipation, shock, over all horrors that happened here and 24 hour around the clock work schedules that have been keeping the staff busy. The sounds of screams were heard through out the night as many experienced strange dreams, which involved 3 small children and a monster of unknown origin. Many claim the monster would not let them wake and claimed to want to take their souls. Is this an odd coincidence or is it something greater?

Due to the disturbing dreams all workers have been ordered to sleep in the castle since the dreams where experienced in the city it’s self. Night watchmen have been ordered to stand guard over the staff as they sleep so that if any one seems distressed, they will be able to wake them with out bothering the others.

Rations have already run low, as the shear number of researchers is almost double what was expected. Dr. Cid has ordered the cities wells to be uncapped to retrieve water and a small section of the work force has been diverted to find food and prepare it.

To our surprise some of Doma’s inhabitants from the far reaches of the Kingdom have return in lieu of strong warning not to; these people are a tight knit race and had many family members that lived here during the time of the attack. There is apparently a rumor outside the city that there has been life found here, outside of the research team we have yet to find any. These false hopes have caused some of the citizens to lash out violently as others return to the homes of the love ones they lost and weep in utter sadness.

One lady named Danica, a citizen of Doma, came to me today and told me the story of her sister that seemed like a legend, it was about a woman named Elaine and her son Owain. Elaine came to Doma to find love in which she did. She married Cyan Garamonde, retainer to the King of Doma. A year later she gave birth to her son and lived a fairy tale life until the day that Doma was attacked. She has not heard anything of the three since and came here in hopes to find a glimmer of hope. She spent part of the day walking outside the city, looking through the hundreds of bodies that were being laid to rest, to her dismay she didn’t find what she was looking for. She has agreed to stay and join the research teams; seeing she has visited the Castle frequently she feels that she can be of assistance as a guide.

Nightfall has set upon the city again, the inner castle and the far banks are the last places to be searched for clues and the team still seems hopeful that something will turn up. Time has become the enemy, as the last day of exploration is only a few hours away.
