Like Fate not understanding what "pitcher" and "catcher" meant?
Why is this a family site? I'm 24, I like Final Fantasy, and I regularly talk about it. What about Final Fantasy means I can't post "innapropriate" things? If Zidane Tribal can grab an ass, Cloud can have a threesome with Aeris and Tifa's gigantic ****ing tits, and Quistis have a BSDM fetish why the hell can't I ****ing be a pervert?
I'm every much of a fan as these "family oriented" 14 year old fanboys who have never heard some of the vocabulary I use.

Precisely. It's what Fuzz wants. If you dislike the family orientation so much, try to convince him to have it be otherwise. >_>;
I doubt it'd work.
Its not just that. This is supposed to be a professional website where people can find information on Final Fantasy and other RPGs without having to worry if a porn pop-up or genitalia-shot will show up in a sig while they are looking around.
You are free to create NSFW topics that are clearly labeled as such (and follow the rules). Opening such a topic is "at your own risk". OTOH, things like avatars and sigs are across the whole bulletin board and can be seen by people who are not expecting giant ascii "rockets" that fill up the whole screen or anime girls feeling themselves up in your avatars. I myself have had to change my sig because of the rules(specifically the one I have now), so I know it might seem a bit much at times, but it is for a good purpose.
I believe you will find similar if not more stringent rules on sites sponsored by game companies. The staff here is pretty lenient in comparison to the multitude of gaming sites I've been to, so I think this frustration is misplaced.

or just check the option to not display sigs, avatars and said images.

Guests who are just visiting the forum to get a quick answer don't have that option (I believe), nor do they even know to do it.

I see no reason to impede our guests from viewing all the other wonderful sigs/avatars people come up with just because a few people want to break the rules. That's hitting a nail with a sledgehammer.
Didn't mean this thread to be so literal, and actually wanted to spark a debate on the demographics of fans.
We've had polled threads before that asked what the age of the majority of users here was. I haven't seen them anymore, but the last one I remember is that a majority are in the mid-late teens/adults.
There's not really many registered kids here anymore. If there are, they never stay very long because they sign up just to lurk/read about what they came for and then just leave.
But anyways, just because there are hardly any registered here, doesn't mean they don't come and visit. This is a professional website. (Or it's trying to be, anyway...)

Well said, but what should be deemed appropriate and not for the users of this site (even if they leave after getting what they want)? If they're using the internet, shouldn't they be old enough to already be prepared for ~most~ things they come across?
I would say common sense governs it, but everyone has different perspectives on that. So it's not really as clear as I would hope. When someone says it's "Not Safe for Work" then that's a pretty clear indication that a line has been crossed. I don't do it often, but I do check the forums on my lunch break. I don't often, because I'm always afraid of what I might accidentally find on here and that's been caught yet.
If you're boss or teacher saw you looking at something or seeing something apart of what you're looking at and it would get you into trouble. Then it should not be here. But we also tend to dial that back further. While swimwear is considered socially acceptable to wear, we still will tell you to remove it. It may not be underwear, but it is still not appropriate for the forums.
As for the forum's population. Our member size does not stay constant. The same people are not staying here and it is not the case that no one else continues to join. People join all of the time. So even if long term members have grown older the site is unable to grow with the members because we're not an exclusive site. New younger members will always continue to enter and join. FF games are, for how much they tease sexuality, games with a teen rating. So we'll always have 13 year olds appearing even if the veterans are older now.
This ends up being one of the reasons why the older members end up leaving or being disinterested. They've out grown the site. They wish to do other things rather than staying around here. It is not a site for adults. It is a site for all ages. And because it is you have to lower the allowed content down to an appropriate level. We certainly aren't down at a Disney level of restriction, but with being for everyone you have to limit yourself.
It is not the place of the site or staff to make a determination of what people of X age should have already been exposed to and are able to accept. It is also not our place to expose people to such things if they have or have not already been. People can seek that out in their own way and time. TFF is not the place for that. That has been an established rule for us since Fuzz created the place.
Curious? There's no limits but your own imagination.

Uh... I'm sure there's other Final Fantasy sites which'll allow you to post sexually explict cosplay pictures of yourself. I know you want to here, but rules are rules.
I think the rules are considerate to younger audiences, and older ones who do not wish to see swinging genitalia or what have you while they look through the forums. Also, that type of display would attract unwanted attention from people we don't really want influencing this board.
If the games had higher age ratings, then it would go up also. I think Final Fantasy games are like rated 15 or something? Probably lower. If a twelve year old types "Raising chocobo's FFVII" in google, and comes up with a FF site full of porn and trolls, will they want to stay around long? Just a thought.
Keeping it family friendly allows a larger group of people to come here. As mentioned above, you can make NSFW topics if they're clearly marked, and that the content obeys a few rules. It's not really a big deal.
Considering most of the current regulars seem to be 'bros', why not?
Do you really need to cater to an audience that barely exists on TFF anymore?
I mean seriously, they've shown they can easily get away with spam and trolling, so why not accommodate them further?
If I ever have kids I'll certainly be making sure they stay well clear of this place at least until the point they're a legal adult.

Silver, you're the most troublesome troll of all because you don't even think you're doing it. Stop.

Actually I was well aware.
It's just I no longer care.
Heh, that rhymed.
And even if I am trolling, is what I've said wrong?

Yes. It is. The "spam" rules here are more lenient these days, but I have not seen anyone trolling other members with the exception of you.
Those that do are warned. And you are not an exception to that.
