Thats not actually a half bad idea, Id love to see that put to use.
So this is not actually a problem I have, but sometimes I'm a bit confused as to the person writing a post is male of female. Sometimes I can figure it out, but sometimes I'm really not sure about it.
I hope this hasn't been suggested before, but what about symbols behind the username which show if the user is male/female?
I haven't been long here, so is there any reason why it isn't existing in the first place? xD" All the other forums I've been to had those symbols...

I agree with this suggestion. I have trouble figuring out whether to refer to someone as "him" or "her" half the time, especially with new members. Plus, some people get offended when you call them the opposite gender, since they'll think that you think they act like the other gender. And I wouldn't want to use the wrong one. This would save me the trouble of asking.

This has been suggested several times already, alnd was always rejected. I think it was because some people do not like to disclose their gender, or something like that. I wouldn't mind if there was a section in everyone's profie for gender, but I would not want it to be next to everyone's username. I don't want to see these gender symbols in every post. It would get rather annoying.
Thanks for your answer, Treize! I've also wondered why nobody's suggested it yet. xD"
Well, there's always the option to pick some kind of "neutral" as your gender, so that no one knows it.
It'd of course also be okay if it were only in the profile.

Well, you could always have the unisex symbols like on Artgrounds when someone's gender is unknown. I don't think it would be annoying at all. We already have a lot of crap in our avatars as it is, it wouldn't hurt to add one more thing.
Maybe under join date there could be a gender identifier. Not so much as symbols but simply the words "male" or "female" and there could also be a 3rd option that is "undisclosed". That would reallly make like easier and in turn with the third option could leave things open.
Just a quick thought on the subject.

Some of our males prefer to be perceived as female, and the same goes for the opposite.
Since this is the internet, we all know that every girl is a 40 year old man anyway.
But honestly, so long as no one is intentionally misleading someone into something naughty without consent, I don't see why gender needs to be an issue here. Besides, I've seen it often enough working for a gaming retailer - a lot of men don't respect the opinion of women when it comes to discussing a traditionally masculine pasttime.

Yeah, to be honest i don't really see the point in having a gender symbol, will it really make anything different in the forums
