Well looks like it happened again. Came to check out the new threads on the forums and to my surprise there was a thread posted by my account yesterday in the visual/media area at 8:00AM titled Thread: I used to encouarge the peop;e i CAM ACROSS ,(Syr cap).. where they would hold ****ingeounsly activ
I did not create the post, yet it seems to have nice intentions, it has the grammar of which reminds me of bot-like behavior. "Appreciative your patience"? It's close to my politeness but it was definitely not I whom wrote it... The password I use for this site isn't even used for any other website and it is the 2nd time this has happened here. I can not be the only none that this has happened to. Any suggestions?
After viewing the "bogus" thread will a moderator please delete it?
[EDIT] also I'm seeing that whatever it was gave a like to one of Rowan's Movie reviews back from 03-29-2012, sorry Rowan but that was not me that went back into old posts and gave you the "like" You're a cool guy, it just wasn't I who supposedly gave you that around 8:00AM yesterday
[/EDIT]
Interesting, I've never once had any issues... is your password secure? If not, you may wish to change it before the bot/hacker does it for you.
Also, is there a chance that you left your computer open and someone else used it? Or accessed the site on a public computer and forgot to log out?

yeah I noticed that... Well theres one way to find out for sure. Track the ip addess from the time the computer was accessed when the thread was posted, and see if it was from the same machine that is always logging on (the familiar ip, some people log in various devices) or if its a unique ip. That way you can determine whether you have some sort of spam bot on your personal machine (I consider this highly unlikely) or perhaps someone jumped on your machine and posted something.
Let me get home to my computer and I'll do exactly that. I don't know why that slipped my mind the other night. Usually I'm on top of those things.

The good news is, the IP that posted the random thread there is identical to the one you had when you made this thread.
The bad news is, either someone else hopped on your computer when you had company over, or you were drunk (or someone else was?) and posted without remembering it, OR there is the small chance that you've got a bug in your computer that's rummaging around. Bots aren't going to post from your IP address though, so unless it's something you accidentally downloaded at some point, I would look moreso at options one and two there.
Now, if the location where you made this post from is ALSO a public location (library/school computer, etc.) then it's definitely a matter of forgetting to log out first. I have sent you a PM with the IP information.

you guys are great, thanks. Turns out was more the likely that I kept the password saved on this site. I was thinking my personal computer was compromised. Only question I have is: why the guy that decided to troll kept it at a mannerist level? I've made the necessary adjustments and have to question the people I hang out with. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Sometimes you never really know what's going to drive a person to do something random like that. Honestly, it may not even be worth the inquiry to your group. Like my option two mentioned... if there was alcohol, who's to say anyone will even remember? The typing definitely seemed more influenced to me than it did bot-like. (Though, the connections to poor grammar are both the same!)

I would advise changing you password everytime you buy a new jug of milk or 24 pack of water, this keeps the consistency of changes to a high and ensures that your never leave to long of an open space in between, sounds dumb but its effective and works wonders I promise you!
