Can anyone tell me anything about Lightning? I've never played FFXIII so I don't know anything about her. What is she like (personality, character traits, etc) and what's her background story pretty much. All I know is that she's like a female version of Cloud? (might be wrong)

The reason I'm curious is because I'm interested in potentially writing a story in the future using her character.

I wanted to write a Final Fantasy story. How would it be plagiarism and unimaginative? If someone writes a story using Final Fantasy characters, don't they usually keep them in-character?

Well, it's not like there's an issue with doing that for fun. Not at all. But personally, if I were to write a story, I'd get more enjoyment from creating my own characters.

But I still find it odd that you want to emulate something you have never seen the original of.

Probably. I'm quite an odd person. I just wanted to try it so I'm trying to know more about her.

He pretty much summed it up.

But closer to the end she starts to get better. Starting after that whole Odin fight.

She is a soldier, so she leaves her emotions out of the battlefield. She may seem cold and calculating, but this is because she rationalizes each situation before making a decision. If things are not going as planned or if there are unexpected snags within the group, she is not above leaving people behind, since she is all about finding a way to survive after the l'cie incident. I think since she joined the military at a young age and the lack of peers after joining, she has a difficult time relating and communicating to others, which is evidenced by her slapping a couple of teammates, and by her sister keeping her l'cie brand a secret from Lightning out of fear of what she would think. Other than that, I think she's pretty direct in her motives, once she makes a decision she sticks with it.

Regarding her friends, though she may be a tough bitch, she really is like the concerned mother of the group and will do whaterver it takes to protect them. She keeps a strong front to keep her team's morale up, but she does admit moments of weakness at times (Snow/Lightning scene right before Taejin's tower comes to mind).

From anyone else who played, did I cover most of the basics? Anything I should of added?

I know this may sound a little off kilter to what you are asking for but even if you don't have the game you can always youtube clips of her and make up your own perspective on how you think she is.

This way you don't have to use other peoples opinions on the issue, you can use your own.

Then again, Rocky could be spot on with his interpretation of the character, I myself have yet to play XIII.

Actually, it was a pretty good idea. I was watching a FFXIII walkthrough on YouTube (the person pretty much had everything including cutscenes) so it was like I was experiencing the game without even playing it.

I still appreciate the help though; I guess I just wanted multiple opinions on the subject.
