Final Fantasy versus XIII as a title is unimaginative.

Hello, I hope that FF versus XIII will be a great game and all that jazz. The one thing that really bugs me is the title. I have to wonder what the developers were thinking when they came up with the title, it is really unimaginative when it comes down to it, it could at least have a subtitle or something like that. Who else agrees with me?

If they just used a subtitle, I think that perhaps it would have confused some gamers that aren't "in the know" or whatever. They probably would have assumed that it was a sequel/prequel to FF XIII proper. I think that the word "versus" in Versus XIII was used to illustrate that there was a different approach to what FF XIII did.

Agito befuddles me though... I have no idea where that word came from. I could look it up, but I'm lazy right now.

Well, i guess that you have a point there. I have to admit that when i first saw the title, i had this feeling that the main character goes against 13 of something. At least, that is the feeling that i had. I really don't know anything about the game.

So yea haha still like huh with the idea of the title but there must be a lot of moving or rousing going on in the game. Def an interesting title to the entire series except for the traditional Final Fantasy XIII title. The whole series is interesting but I look forward to playing all the games as I do every other Final Fantasy.

It sounds like for Agito we might get our world map, and there will be less linearity.

Dodie's idea of what "versus" would be, makes sense, and sounds cool, like it would be from the point of view of either a fal'cie, or a normal person...

@ Padraic- Well, I meant it being more along the lines of different gameplay elements, design, and story. I don't think that we'll be seeing anything from the fal'Cie's perspective, or any other character that was established in FF XIII reg. From what I've seen, it's a completely different story than what FF XIII reg. put forward, but it does still have some of the same elements, which is why it's a part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis series.

The Agito game is about an Academy of students....my guess is it's some journey. Moving on or something, really don't know anything about it except that is has 12 characters.

Actually, the title suggests that the main character goes against thirteen of something which in this case would be the fal'Cie, who knows. I use this idea for my story called the Prince of the Night Versus XIII, it is in the literature section and if you have time, please check it out.

the only relevance XIII has in the title is that it is part of the fabula nova crystalis, where every game in that group is paired with the number XIII, that doesnt mean that the number XIII plays any role in the story.

I think that you are right about that fact. That was, after all, the first impression that i got when I first saw the title, I hope that this answer is satisfying to you.
