^ Still, makes no sense why they'd do a collectors edition in lil' ol Australia though, and not the States.
Drooooool.... I wish this was in Australia. Japan only.

Actually I'd be happy for PS3 Master Chief fans everywhere.
Personally not the type of game I prefer, but whatever.
I'm not so sure, at least not in Australia. I can't talk for the whole world, but here a lot of the RPG crowd migrated to 360 and a lot of twitch gamers went over to the PS3. I can't think of a great RPG the PS3 got here that the 360 didn't get at the same time if not considerably earlier. I know I hated having to wait for an imported copy of Demon Souls (possibly one of the best games this generation as far as I'm concerned) and though I'm enjoying White Knight Chronicles considerably, it's weak review scores were justified.I think Final Fantasy XIII could have sold more as an exclusive, than on both systems. Playstation owners get excited when they here an exclusive is coming to a store near them. Do you think 3 Million people bought Resistance: Fall of Man because it was just such an amazing game? Hell no. They bought it because Microsoft and Nintendo don't have it.
Maybe XII turned them off? I mean it was a good game but it killed my illusion that FF games would remain higher than any other game series to me.I know so many friends who aren't total fans, but completed X and XII, are totally disinterested in XIII. I wonder why.
I also wouldn't be surprised if VERSUS gets ported as it seems to be something SE keep doing of late. Granted if it's like their 360 to PS3 games people might be waiting the better part of a year, but meh. Although on the other hand the 360 to PS3 ports make more sense because of the ratio of PS3 users to 360 users in Japan so that speculation is weak at best.
On the topic of the PSX ports someone mentioned, 3 was never ported to a non Nintendo console and the PSX versions were often inferior especially with their longer load times. It was almost painful to go from SNES to PSX and you really noticed when grinding.
Being a console fanboy is one thing (I know I can be, even if I do play all consoles), but feeling happy or positive about someone missing out on a game just because they didn't buy the same console is terrible. Enjoying an exclusive like Demon Souls or Lost Odyssey I wish the game wasn't an exclusive just so everyone could enjoy it.
Oh and international people without a special edition, you have an alternative if you feel strongly about wanting one. Most games on both consoles seem to be open region these days. Just make sure it's the case with FFXIII and import a special edition.

ViviMasterMage: "You smell nice!...I do have problems!"

I would think Versus will eventually be ported. As Silver said, what's there to lose? SE seem to like the idea.
The only reason they might not, is that Kingdom Hearts is supremely more popular in Japan and given that it's made by the KH team, they mighten bother.

I'm not sure what the Collector's Edition in South Africa comes with but I've pre-ordered it because I want all my covers to match...is that weird?
You are entitled to your wrong opinion.
The UK PS3 Collectors edition comes with the soudtrack, a guide, 3 art prints and a brand of the l'Cie decal. I've pre-ordered mine from Gamestation, which comes with postcards too. It would have be cool if we could have gotten a calander like you Aussies, or even better, a limited edition Lightning PS3.
I'm hoping this game will live up to it's hype. I was quite disappointed by X and XII. X I found had a quite good storyline but I hated most of the characters, and I didn't like the levelling system much. XII was fun but it's plot somehow swizzled and popped off somewhere, and I hated 3 of the 6 playable characters (I hated Vaan, Penello and Ashe, and even the 3 I liked didn't have that much depth or background), and seemed to be lacking an arch-nemesis.
Fang looks like an interesting character in this one, and Sazh seems like a good laugh. I'm not even a kiddy person and I think his kid lookes super cute!

^ I don't know wtf is up with that. What a slap in the face. Maybe Japan/Square are shitty with the harsh US reviews. XD
Australia, NZ and a host of small other islands surrounding them will be the first countries to play this game, due to having the eariliest Timezone. Suckers to everyone else! 1 day to go!

Oh hell yes.
And the best bit is though I have to work Tuesday night, I get wednesday and thursday off. Couldn't have happened at a better time.
BTW I plan on doing a direct comparison between the two versions using a few displays to see just how much the 360 version suffers. I have heard that the 360 version is the same resolution as Halo 3 and that's the actual game, not just the cinematics so I must say I'm expecting a notable difference at this point. Playing will tell.

i was recently on ebay to see if their were any available FFXIII collectors editions and one seller from AUS had 1 posted and said it would work on north american PS3's, is this claim true? im not to sure about the region numbers or anything, anyone out their who may have some helpful info?
I assure you, 100%, that the PS3 is completely regional. I own 3 North American PS3 games that work on my Australia PS3. It plays all regions, from Japan to South America.
Anyway just picked up my collectors edition guide and game. The guide looks sick. It's a really thick hard cover.
See everyone in a week!

Both can have region protection though I don't think I've heard of many PS3 versions utilising it. The 360 is more hit or miss, but if you do a little googling there are a few lists online of games tested to be region free.
The bonuses are pretty sweet for a FF fan.

Im starting to love my collectors edition. Excellent picks for the soundtrack CD and despite the decals being fairly generic the artbook is just perfectly presented and has the perfect balance of colours. One of the better special editions I have picked up.

sweet ill def have to do some research thanks everyone!
well within a half hour of research, i am pleased to say i will be able to get my hands on a collectors edition game. it will be coming from the UK.
aha thanks, yea its much needed to complete the collection ykno, got to have all the right pieces.
i think it was in this thread someone said that SE can only make so many collector edition games or something well with that being said and the PS3 being mainly region free they were kind of smart in the sense they didn't have to release it in another country (US being the only one LOL) and whoever couldn't get it regularly could just pick it up VIA internet y'kno. saving money and cutting back, but still making it very available to acquire and play.
We do have the strategy guide. It's available for £14.99 (Paperback) or £19.99 (Hardback) in GAME. They're not doing any deals from what I saw in store though. You could get it cheaper online if you're feeling tight - the Piggyback guide was about £11 last time I checked (with free delivery).
Research, my friend.
I have the limited edition of Final Fantasy XIII. The game, the soundtrack, collectors Eidolons cards (x3, double sided), limited "Brand of l'Cie" decals (x2) and a hardback art book.
See as I'm loving the game and the soundtrack, and have some collectors items, I'd say (for me) it was worth the £60 I paid.
I got a funny story to tell. So I purchased the Collector's Edition guide from Wal-Mart (collection purposes) since they were selling it for $19. I think it was the day of the FFXIII's release that I was browsing the gamefaqs board for FFXIII (PS3) and I came across a thread talking about Wal-Mart cancelling all orders for the Collector's Edition. I went to check my e-mail to see if they had cancelled mine; low and behold they had sent an e-mail to me saying that they had cancelled the order. I was pretty bumed out about this; I presumed that Wal-Mart saw their pricing error and cancelled all orders (they have a policy online saying that they can do that whenever if there is an error). I come back home from playing FFXIII at a friend's house and what do I see sitting on the kitchen table? A package for me, a package that a collector's edition guide could fit in. I open it up and voila my collector's edition guide was in there and the invoice had it listed at $19 still. It makes me wonder what happened; did Wal-Mart get too many angry customers or did this just slip by? I'll be checking around the interweb to get the word.
EDIT: Just checked my email and Wal-Mart sent me an email today (Friday) here it is:

You know what else is weird? I ordered the CE guide from Barnes and Noble and...I got an email about the order being delayed. Not canceled, thankfully, but still. Kind of an odd coincidence since they're selling it for about the same price as Walmart. I got the email on the 10th, though. Haven't heard anything else yet.
