Its the Gestalt gauge that you need to drive up. So kind of like to beat Shiva with Snow it wasn't about actually kicking the crap out of the Shiva Sisters, their Gestalt gauge increased more rapidly when Snow defended as a sentinel.

So its the same idea. Chaining bonuses and healing yourself and Hope will help big time to make the gauge fill faster. So having the paradigm War and Peace will help, as Lighting will attack (getting chain bonuses, filling up the gestalt gauge) and Hope will heal Lightning and himself (again, filling up the gauge quicker as its one of the things that Odin is 'weak' against).

Not sure if I've explained that correctly!

Edit: Ying and Yang could help as well, as that would have Lightning be a Ravager and Hope as a Medic.

I can't take credit for this, but here is another strategy:

A good strategy is to use Lightning as a healer and keep Hope as a ravager whenever Odin is in attacking mode, or when you see that he is getting low on health. Then, whenever Odin takes a defensive stand, or when the health bar in both Lightning and Hope is full enough, use them both as ravagers. Considering Odin will alternate between attacking the two for unspecified periods of time, another good strategy is having the one he is not attacking be a Ravager and attack Odin continuously with magic while the one is is attacking does the healing as a Medic, then switching the roles when he turns his focus onto the other character.

I didn't avoid fights either when I did this but I definitely had issues.
